  1. I seem to have opened a "can of worms" with my question. I have tried to follow the recent suggestions but much of the language passes me bye. I can now print the maps I require by taking a screen shot and printing the result from desktop. But I still do not understand why I cannot print directly from the searched for map and why I simply get a blank page.
  2. Thanks for the assist. It's a bit convoluted but it works. I still don't understand why I cannot simply print from the map on the Geocaching web site.
  3. I am not new to Geocaching but am new to printing maps. I want to print a map of the area I will be caching in from the Geocaching web site. I size the page to cover the area I want then click print on the drop down menu (on my Mac). The preview only shows a blank page, if I print I get a blank sheet. Do I need to switch something on, is this facility not available to Premium Members or am I doing something wrong. Any assistance appreciated.
  4. I don't know if I have missed an announcement or whether my PC is not displaying correctly but. When I load a cache page I no longer get the logs unless I request them, is this correct or am I missing something?
  5. Well I now feel a complete numpty! I have just logged into the Geocaching web site for the first time in a week on the iPad, the Hotjar message has not appeared and all the functions that were missing, access to caches from the map PQs etc, are all now working.
  6. Thanks for all your attempts to help. I did the Google search and did not understand a word of it, also I did not understand why the message had appeared on my iPad and not my Windows 10 netbook. Now that I am back in the UK I'm not using the iPad but am back on my Mac, no message here either. As Hotjar seems to be affecting the use of the iPad only on the Geocaching web site I need to get rid of it but the iPad does not seem to be allowing me any access to the program, app or whatever it is. If anyone has a clue how to solve this problem I'd love to hear from you but please write in plain English as I am a tecno-dinosaur.
  7. I have been using an iPad to log finds for over 2 years while on holiday in France; I live in the UK. In recent weeks I get a message that my Hotjar code does not match that of the Geocaching web site and that I have to change it. I did not have a problem until Geocaching introduced the new page format to log finds, also I cannot load maps of caches. How do I solve this problem? In addition I use a net book to log finds as well, I do not have a problem doing this nor do I receive the error message. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks for any assistance, MacGrumpy.
  8. Thanks for the help guys. Like it or not it looks as though the easiest way to do this is to go back to using the app. I'll give it a try when I have a few hours (or days) to spare.
  9. Yes. As a premium member, you can create a list. Then, using the steps in the article linked above, you can make the cache and map data from that list available offline. To populate the list, use the website to either search for caches or create a pocket query of caches. Or even just browse the map (this one's centered on your latest hide).
  10. Is it possible to create a list of Geocaches that you want to look for off line without using the app, which I hate? Also I do not understand how the off line mapping can work without being linked to either the internet or gps system, which my iPad is not. I had it loaded to my iPad but it was so awkward to use I got rid of it and simply use the Geocaching web site when I have wi-fi access
  11. At the moment I am using easygps to load geocaching pocket queries to my Dakota 20 via a net book running XP. I want to be able to use my Mac and in future (maybe) a Mac Book Air. I know there are many programs out there to load tracks but none seem to mention pocket queries. Any suggestions for an easy to use program. Ta.
  12. In May I will be taking part in the Great Outdoors Challenge; a 200 mile walk across Scotland from the west coast to the east coast. More details can be found at www.tgochallenge.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ . During the two week event I will be attempting to find upward of 50 caches, some in the remotest parts of the Highlands. I was wondering if there were any other Geocachers out there who will be taking part in this year's event. If so it may be interesting if we were to meet along the way or maybe compare notes after the event.
  13. I am using a Dakota 20 for Geocaching. Last night I down loaded 7 Geocache files to the .gpx folder. I checked that all appeared in the folder. Today using the Dakota I found the first five without a problem but the last two had disappeared from the Dakota although they still appear in the .gpx folder when I connect to my Mac. Any idea what is happening or if they are being sent to another file somewhere within the Dakota?
  14. A big thanks to both you guys. Not only have I managed to get rid of the files and re-load a cache but the Dakota now recognises me as a Premium member, two birds with one stone; cheers!
  15. Thanks for that. I followed that easily enough but I do not have any .loc files. I do have about 20 .gpx files which seem to be local caches I loaded individually, but I can't remember if that was before or after I became a Premium member. If I have .gpx files why does the unit not see me as a Premium member?
  16. I think that you are correct. I tried doing a factory re-set but that did not get rid of the Geocaching data. I tried to follow your suggestions but the only information I can find in the Garmin reference deleting files tells me to "Open the Garmin or SD card drive/volume" what does that mean as I cannot find any reference to drive/volume on my Mac. It then says "Highlight the file and press the delete key." But there are no instructions on how to find the correct files. Sorry to appear thick but this is the first gps I have owned which connects to a pc and the Garmin instruction book is not very helpful. I tried to phone Garmin but after 15 minutes on hold I gave up!
  17. I am using a Mac with Safari as my browser. 1) When I log on to the Geocaching web site I am recognised as a Premium member but my Dakota 20 does not recognise me as a Premium member e.g. I cannot access the description feature, I am advised to become a Premium member. How do I get the gps to acknowledge my Premium membership? 2) When I try to down load caches to my gps they down load only to my Mac, not to the gps. The only instruction I can see are to select the required caches and press the download button. What more do I need to do in order to get the caches onto my gps?
