  1. Try using a dental floss threader (available in drugstores next to the floss or from your dentist) to get the lanyard through the tiny hole. These are used to thread dental floss through the gaps in braces.
  2. It's a one person operation. If I recall, there were some health issues in the owner's family.
  3. I'll be visiting Newport Beach on vacation this week. If I only have time for 1 or 2 caches, which one should I search for? Anything within a five or ten mile radius of Fashion Island is fine. I'll have a car. I'll be with some folks who may have a low tolerance for caching, so a hunt that lasts less than 1-1/2 to 2 hours would be best.
  4. Clams cannot be trusted! I suspect that clams muggled my unique cache in Cape Cod Bay. DES PALOURDES MORTES
  5. Nostalgia bump! Now that summer is here, I get nostalgic about last summer's vacation in Seattle. It was one of the best vacations my family has taken. My high school aged daughter wants to move to Seattle for college and beyond!
  6. Geocaching makes me warm and tingly inside.
  7. It's probably Deadly Duck: Envy. ID 1, reference# TB1, released August 30, 2001. I wonder what's the oldest active travel bug? "Active" = placed in a geocache in the past six months.
  8. What's next? The video game based on the movie based on the newspaper article?
  9. Here's another NYT article about a puzzling house owned by Doug Carlston, CEO and founder of Broderbund software (makers of the game "MYST")
  10. Easy Foil Fish 1 or 2 whole fillets of your favorite fish. I like Artic Char or salmon 1 tablespoon butter 1 fistful of cilantro, minced 1 small onion or shallot, minced juice of 1/2 lime salt and peper to taste heavy duty aluminum foil Cover fish with pats of butter and all ingredients. Wrap in foil "envelope". Grill over medium heat for 2-3 on each side. EDIT: too late to win, but it's an easy and tasty recipe.
  11. $8.5 million purchase price. 4,300 sq. feet $1.29 million renovation
  12. Bison tubes, 3 for $3.75 at American Science Surplus Lots of other containers at American Science Surplus
  13. Everyone always asks what's the oldest cache. I searched the forum, but didn't find the answer. What's the oldest event cache?
  14. I saw a clip of Snoqualmie Pass today on CNN. Snowing!
  15. I don't know much about Norway. What I do know: - Fjords are beautiful. - Norwegian cross country skiers are among the best in the world. - A joke among Swedes and Danes is that Norwegians are "bumpkins". Beautiful coin! Thanks for the cointest!
  16. Occasionally, I make finders pins. If you choose to start making buttons, be aware that not all button making supplies are created equal. Even though they're both the same size, the Badge-A-Minit blank disc and pinback sets tend to work better than the Mr. Button sets. About 1 in 10 or 12 Mr. Buttons fail for me and end up being thrown out. Virtually all of the Badge-A-Minit pins I make turn out fine.
  17. I have to wonder at that advisement. I can't think of anything a 24 hour wait would help except their ability to put off having to deal with a problem. The rep probably gave that advice because he knew the next day was his day off!
  18. Sawyer Military Style Clothing Treatment?
  19. Garmin Vista HCx bundle for $259 at REI. Regularly $349. and take an additional 20% off if you are an REI member and buy it before the end of the annual sale (May 11) Vista HCx + plus case + US Topo software for $209!
  20. I placed a cache (two-stage multi beginning near the marker) near Massachusetts' population center -- "Center of Mass (GCNAT6)" See the cache page for links to other articles about population centers.
  21. That would be my "Selective Availability ON" (GCNBC7) cache. There is also the similarly themed Magellan ON (GCZC77) cache nearby.
