  1. Hey fellow geocaching friends I have a few questions that I would like to have answered. I am new to event planning especially if it's out of state. I am most likely going back to Baton Rouge, LA in January for my winter marathon. I wanted to have a geocaching event at a nice restraint near by and meet some Louisiana geocachers what is a good way to find a place to host the event when your not from there? i am hoping that mabie some of the fellow caches could also hit some caches after aswell. i am open for tips thanks all and hope to see you there.
  2. Eariler this year i printed out a list of goals published by geocaching.com has any one else seen or heard of the 24 caches in 24 hours challenge? I have find it and cant find it any where it was sent to my email at the beginning of the year. tomorrow I am going to attempt my first crack at this challenge. if you have done this let me know how you did and how it was.
  3. I am in the process of solving my first multi cache. I read that you can check the coordinates on geocchek how would i go about doing this ?
  4. So I attended the maker madness event near me and it was awesome. Let me tell you I had a huge blast. after the amazing time i had at this event and meeting other cachers it made me want to throw a geocaching lunch event. I wanted some advice on how to do this and make it very successful so that I could possibly do this once a year. any advice ?
  5. Now that spring iS upon us, and the snow is starting to melt, the weather has shifted from snow to rain. Yesterday Today and Tomorrows forecast calls for rain where I live . I plan on going out there and geocaching tomorrow in the rain . Are there any other geocachers who will cache in the rain and is it fun to you ? Im not going to let the rain stop me from garbing some caches.

    parking

I have reached 50 caches and I am starting to venture out now. I have been places were I know parking is. my question is I am now starting to go to locations that I have never been before and would like to know how do you find parking to a cache so your car will not get towed. I have tried asking cach owners for good spots to park but they never reply back. I need some help!
  7. I don't think you can log caches on the free one .I think you have to pay the basic fee of 10$ to be able to log caches I never did the free app i paid the basic 10$ then later updated to premium so i could be wrong.
  8. I have a stupid question and I feel stupid for asking. So My first cache was published the other day and that first day someone dropped a tb off in it. I wanted to see what it was so i went to the cache site and it was a nice coin. as the co if a tb ends up in my cache am i aloud to take it and bring it to another cache as well or is it not recommended ? I have not yet done a travel bug but want to. I also want to start a new travel bug and put it in my cache.
  9. I have a question. i have been reading a lot of posts about ftf prizes. My first cache was recently published and the ftf has come and gone. I did not have a prize in the cache. I wanted to reward them with a prize would it be crazy to try and get a hold of them to try and get them some sort of geocaching prize ? and what is the best way to do so if possible?
  10. One of the reasons I wanted to see the filled spots where people signed. As Chief 301 can tell you I searched hi and low for spots that i could put a cache, and almost gave up. Last Sunday when I was walking mines falls after I made 2 caches that day i was walking back to my car and saw a spot that was calling my name. I scaned for geocaches and they were all far enough away. My only fear was the multi that i still have not figured out yet was near by. I did a coordinates check and it was cleard by the publisher. Two days ago I placed it out and Early this morning it was published FINALLY hard work paid off.
  11. Today i finally got my first geocache published. and Congrats to the first two people on first to find. I wanted to know how often should a co check on their cache?
  12. so I emailed the owner and he said to feel free and hit it anytime even though he is not there. However i am putting this one off because i want it to be one of my milestone caches. This just means I will have to go get more caches so I can get to this one much quicker. I want to make this my 100th cache.
  13. I read the page the co flies a geocacing flag on his flag pole when he is there. it is a seasonal home and he is there sometimes during the winter. The houses in the area were clearly abandoned for the winter season however the restaurant near by was open and lots of muggles kept driving by. This is the cache I went to but did not attempt. 14. February was my worst month of geocaching since I started in December. I only had 3 caches on several attempts last month. So far March has been wicked awesome for me. I attended my first geocaching event and I am finally above the halfway mark to my 100th cache. I usually work the evening shift at work and on Sundays I get out it is dark. the area I live in has no night caches so they have to be done during the day. This Saturday into Sunday is daylight savings and we spring ahead Sundays I get out around 6:30 ish. I have also noticed some not much but some of the snow is starting to melt Spring is coming! who else is exited for daylights savings ? I know i am!
  15. Today I went Geocaching in Maine. I had 8 Geocaches on my list to find. When I got to my first cache it was an EZ find, however when i got to the second cache it was at a house and there were loads of muggles. I feel like an idiot because I did not get the web page on my smart phone and took a dnf because I didnt want people to think I was trespassing. When I got home today I looked at the cache link. It says CO owns the property. Has anyone else had the same problem ? I feel like an idiot now because i did not even attempt to get this cache when i could have. On the bright side I found 5 of the 8 on the list. the first dnf was because I did not attempt it because I was uncomfortable (this is the cache i am asking about ), the second one I searched hi and low for over 30 mins but dnf, and the third was muggle central. I sat and waited for 20 minutes for them to go away! any way I just wanted advice on what to do the next time.
  16. Does the driver get credit for the cache as well? If so That's not geocaching ! It's one thing if 3 or 4 people go and one person finds it while the others are looking for the cache. However a driver was not at the cache site. They should not get credit.
  17. Haven't you already posted a cache twice but been turned down for proximity? Seems like you may be in a very cache dense area. yes. However i did spot a street by the airport that does not have geocaches near buy. the closest one it like almost a mile away. The spot i would like to put it is in a cemetery however i know they tend to have mystery caches there as well. Not sure it's relevant to your situation, but just something to keep in mind: ...and... From what i understand and have read when i did the check my first location passed. I think i am going to stick with that and hide it there. it was checked by the reviewer and it is now awaiting publishing.

  19. So i wanted to place a geocach somewehere but there are severel placeses i have thought about placing one. Are you able to do multiple coordinates checks? I saw a few places i could hide one, but i think one of the places is to close to other caches.
  20. yes any pilot can comment it is nice to see other geocachers who are also pilots.
  21. Not good! I have been so busy with things lately that I have not had time to go out and find a spot for it. Plus I plan on hiding it in a tree hole or stump because of the size of the cache. I have a small Stanley Cup that is going in the container. Unfortunately I did have a small micro hide I had permission to hide in a location then the person said no never mind.
  22. Is any one else that is in the cold weather region having a hard time finding caches? I live in New England and we keep getting berried in snow lately we have been getting 3-6 inches almost every other week. I have not been doing well finding caches.
  23. I have a question? I wanted to possibly start A geocaching club in my area. My plan would be to meet monthly at a restaurant then go geocaching after. I wanted to know what is the best way to start this club. I want to meet other geocachers in my area. This is why I would like to start this club. Does anyone Have any good advice on how to do this ?
  24. I see that you edited the coordinates for your cache sometime after my prior post, but before your reviewer saw it. So, yay for that. The next teachable moment: When you hide a cache in a nice park, and there's a four-stage multicache that begins at the parking lot, odds are good that your new cache will conflict with one of the physical stages of the multicache. I'd recommend doing the multi -- hidden by a veteran forum poster here -- and picking up your cache after you find the multi. You won't have far to walk. I have not figured out multi caches yet. I figured this location was far enough away from the cache site it would not effect anything but seeing as this hole park is turning into a night mare I am just probably going to scrap this whole idea if this site does not work out. and fyi I have been reading the guides I just miss calculated by accident I'm only human and I make mistakes. This is my first time hiding a geocach.
