  1. Its always just me and my 2 sons (7&8) out in the woods. And I don't even own a cell phone. No difficult hikes or rock climbing (over 3 feet tall anyway) or anything like that. Sometimes I start getting the heebee jeebees (sp?), but I just talk myself out of it and keep on trekking.
  2. I was rather thinking the same thing Ekitt. Well, first of all I was thinking how scared witless I would probably get in the woods in the dark... but then I started thinking if peoplea re actually allowed to go hiking around at night.
  3. Did no one else see that picture up there??!?!?!? Forget knives and matches and sticks of dynamite.... if there are geocachers out in the woods that look like that... *shudder* ... I'm giving it up right now. That is much more damaging to my precious 7&8 year olds than any blippin' multi-tool!!!!
  4. Well, we just got started too, and we are planning on caching in wooded park type places. We pretty much take the same kind of stuff, but always include a plastic bag to carry out any trash that we see lying around.
  5. Well, we only did it that way because I knew exactly where the place was and I read the clues and all. I'm hunting for another one for today.
  6. We don't even have our GPS yet -- WHY oh WHY did I chose the cheaper, slower shipping method? -- but we went out today to try to find a cache hidden on one of our semi-regular hiking spots. We found it! My sons started dancing around and screaming "Treasure! Treasure!" and were overjoyed with their plastic trinkets. I'm so excited, I just had to share! I'm jonesing for another cache!
  7. Well, can't you just make one user name and post the finds under that one? You'd only get one log though, I guess. My user name says Team, but we're not really a team - just me and the kids. Should I have not used the word Team?
  8. The EAM Team consists of me, M - 32, and the mites, E - 8, and A - 7. When I described the sport to E yesterday, his eyes got so big and he started yelling "I want to go NOW! NOW!" Not even out yet, and already addicted.
  9. I was thinking along the lines of Hogosha -- instead of a film canister, why not just a ziploc type bag with garbage bag & plastic glove inside it? You can put the CITO label on the ziploc easy enough.
  10. Thanks I haven't even gotten started yet and I'm already addicted!
  11. Umm... central. Mercer Cty. Thanks for the help.
  12. I have happily just ordered my GPS and will have to wait a week or so to get started, but I can't wait! I have a question though. Is it possible to figure out all the caches (or if there is one) in a particular park or parcel of land? Do most cache pages tell the "start here" coordinates and you just have to locate them on a map before you get going to know? Thanks for the help! A week! Argh - I don't wanna wait!
  13. Hey fellow barefooter. I was just thinking the other day how great it would be to hike barefoot.
