  1. Nothing in the files by name either,, I even tried changing the reference point to Ca. with no luck. bummer! rk
  2. I clicked on the "check all" box on the search page after intering zip code of where I'm going and sent them all that way to easygps. And like I said it works fine for local caches. Thanks for the reply. rk
  3. I deleted all the local caches from my etrex because I am going to Ca. in the morning. I have been trying to download caches from Ca. so I can go caching there. None of the Ca. caches will load to etrex from esygps. I went back to the local caches and they loaded as usual. Is it possible to load caches that are in other states?
  4. I was trying to log a TB i picked up and ran into a snag. It seems there are 2 different numbers attached to the bug, one that is printed on the bug and one on the web page that says to use it in reference to this bug. I am confused on this matter,,please help me keep this bug moving.
  5. Possibly already hashed over but here goes. After reading most of the replies in Pxtysons thread about what you would like to see in a cache and the dislikes of mctoys, dirty golf balls, worthless junk from the bottom of a kitchen drawer or any paper material that is ruined, be it from water or just old and ripped up, I have a question, Is it ok to clean out someone else's cache for them when it is obvious the cache is not being attended to?
  6. This may be the start of a new thread and possibly already hashed over but here goes. After reading most of these replies and the dislikes of mctoys, dirty golf balls, worthless junk from the bottom of a kitchen drawer or any paper material that is ruined be it from water or just old and ripped up, I have a question, Is it ok to clean out someone else's cache for them when it is obvious the cache is not being attended to?
  7. Not really sure but may simply mean that when you go to find icon it leads to a screen that has things such as waypoints, exits , cities, recent finds and "geocaches".
  8. The only version I could find was on the cd for trip & waypoint manager, it is 3.0. Is there one for the gps itself also? Base map info is marked Jan. 2001
  9. Do I have a problem or what? My etrex started recalculating continuously when map was up. The scale that shows the % would start at 0% and as soon as it started moving up to 1 - 5% it would start over, I tried to shut it off but it changed screens so fast was impossible. I might add I was moving ( on a bicycle) at the time and after I stopped it would settle down. It did this a few times during the day but I have noticed it in the car a few times but never to the extent where I couldn't even shut it off, I was about ready to pull the batteries to stop it. thanks in advance and sorry for rambling on. rk
  10. My question is weather or not all SD cards are created equal, is one brand any better than others or just go for the best price found?
  11. don't know if it will help and i think it is what Knight was refering to ,, go to FAQ at top of page and click on sputniks57's for secret codes to reset unit. is a combination of key to push while powering up. hope this helps. rk
  12. I'm fairly sure I have seen it before and if anyone knows the thread please direct me. My question is how do I setup gps to follow lesser roads such as county and state roads instead of always directing me to an interstate ? I have tried fastest and shortest but seems like I'm always sent to major highways. I have also tried offroad but that sends me as a crow flies.
  13. Of the caches I've found that the log book has been wet or even damp it is sometime because of cachers putting a pen or pencil in the baggie with it and in doing so a hole getting poked in the bag. It may be a better idea to leave the writing instrument outside the bag to prevent this. any thoughts? maybe a better plastic bag would help too.
  14. seems to work like a champ now,,,ty vm,,rk
  15. you sure can i do all the time. get your pocket query to GSAK. then export to magellan explorist. works great. good luck ric I loaded the GSAK and I'm getting an error also that it can't download Comm 1 and tried the other com3 still same response. Tried other USB ports and still no luck. There must be some software that is easy to use.? Was diong fine with EasyGPS until it stopped working on me. I have Garmin eTrex Legend Cx......how do I use for this unit? on my cx i check the caches i want ,,,download them and open,, in edit select all (or the ones you want) and then in tools send to gps. works for me easily...gl....rk
  16. everytime i open the geocache page the on screen keypad pops up as if i am supposed to enter a name or something, all i can do is scroll to the "ok" and enter it to remove the keypad. my question is why does the keypad pop up and is there a way to prevent it?
