  1. Check Quakemap for pre-cache trip research. There is a trial version so you can get a feel for the program. It communicates with the Geocache website and overlays tops, street, and image data so you can thoroughly research your destination before heading out.
  2. Where is the legend for the second column of icons that includes smileys and exclamation points? What do they mean and what controls them?
  3. Did you consider the 76CS as well when you were looking for another receiver. I have also been using a Sport Trak Pro for about 2 years. I've found the unit to be quite accurate but it really falls short when I mount it in my trucck and try using it on the road. I noticed the 76CS has a tide chart capability (useful for beach caches) but not a Geocache mode. What are your thoughts between the two models?
  4. I like it. There appears to be a poll funciton in this forum but I cannot use the function. Possibly the owner of this thread can create a quick poll to tally votes real quick if folks like some of the other suggestions.
  5. I have used a program called Quake Map (www.quakemap.com) and found it to be a useful tool when planning out a trip. This program will get waypoints from Geocaching.com and plot them with various overlays (streets, topo, imagery). I believe there is a $10 registration fee to unlock some of the features but the trial version is good enough to get a feel for the program.
  6. According to one site, http://www.centralcoasttourist.com/, the Central Coast stratches from Ventura to Santa Cruz. I don't feel the name is as much of a terriotorial issue as it is one of confusion. Yes, there can be more than one taco shop on the Central Coast, and I know of a few actually , but I don't look for them online. I would hate to see someone walk away from joining because they confused one name for the other and falsely assumed our group was up north .
  7. There is a great deal on the SporTrak Pro at Costco (if you have them in your area). The package includes the SporTrak pro, power cable, PC cable, clip case (like a cell phone case), automotive holder, and the MapSend software. $289 with a $50 rebate. I noticed there is a different package on their web site at www.costco.com. Missing the auto adapter but includes a canvas case vice the cell style case. I'm very happy with the package deal. _______________ Adam Santa Maria, CA
