  1. My TB Twisted Kitty went to England then to Australia and i managed to have the last finder mail it back home to me. It went to the town of Chidlow outside of Perth. I am related (we think) to the founders of the town. I retired the TB when i got it back to Florida. It went 32,557 miles.
  2. Thanks Crow for all your help with this. I know when i contacted the Oleno State Park they were tickled to get a cache there. Thanks again Crow and all the people that helped Altree Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  3. Don't forget only 8 more days to the Oleno State Park Get Together. Free admission to the park on that day. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  4. Update to the get together at Oleno. Left out a word in the last post. There will be Door prize tickets in the main cache. The Drawing will be at 3pm. The day of the get together (5-17-03) Is a free day at the park so no one will have to pay to get in the door. Just wanted to let everyone know that tidbit Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  5. Its a go!! It will be held on the 17th of May at Oleno State Park. Look on the cache pages for it. There will be a T bug swap too. There will be door prizes in the main cache container as a added bonus. Hope to see everyone there. Team Tree Altree and Atwitsend Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  6. Hi All, We went to the park today and the trails are finially dry. We are going to put 4 micros leading to a regular cache in in a week or so. We are going to try to have it on 5/17/03. The weekend after Mothers Day. I will post the cache page later when the micros and the cache are in place. I have to have a ranger go with us when we place them so they know where they are and can check the impact on the area. Hope to see everyone at Jax on Sat for the CITO get to gether. Altree and Atwitsend Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  7. Oleno state park is about 10 miles north of High Springs and about 12 or so south of Lake City. It has real nice camping facilitys so we might make a camping outting later in the year. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  8. Hi All, just a note to let you know that we are going to have to postpone the meeting at Oleno State Park on the 26th. The park is under water at all the trails and the picnic area. We are going to try to have it in May instead and hope that the water will be down then. We will post the event as soon as it looks like we will have access to the trails. I think GatoRx is trying to get a CITO cleanup on the 26th going in Jax. We will keep everyone posted about Oleno Park meeting. We have permission to place a cache and will work with the park people to have it in May. Thanks for the intrest Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  9. We have a 2001 Grand Prix and my Mereidian Gold works great in it. It even works sitting on the seat. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  10. So far i haven't found a wet ammo can. I sure have found wet Tupperware. I have two caches out and one is in a saltwater enviroment. That one is in a ammo can, i could guess what it would look like if it were in tupperware. The second is in tupperware and in a better enviroment that would not get it too wet. I know i favor the ammo box but will see how the tupperware holds up. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  11. Hay i can relate to this on ESPN. My wife says i would watch anytype of race if it is televised on tv. She caught me watching lawnmower races on speedvision and i thought she would never let me live it down. When it comes to geocaching i think she would watch it with me. I have watched acoupple of reality shows on tv but this one would have got me hooked. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)

We are going to have night caches two nites. There will be alot of people to meet and get to know. We are trying to have something each month somekind of gettogether or camping trip for cachers. Hope you can make it. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  13. The headlines said that the neiborhood was sad due to Mr Rogers passing. I was stunned, he did more for kids and growenups alike in his tv program. I know i watched him with my kids and who knows maybe he had some effect on my life too. The world lost a great man today. May he rest in peace, just like he was Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  14. Hi BuffaloNickle, i too am a metal detector nut that got into Geocaching. I have a Minelab Excalibur 800. I have paid for it three or four times over with gold i have found at the beaches in the water. I geocache with a Magellan gold and love it. I just placed my second cache, it was under heavy trees and the good ol magellan did not have a problem keeping 6 sats in lock. Keep up the good work Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  15. If they make tupperware with self healing plastic will the lid grow back to the bottom? And will geocaching gear have to be a saw to open cache? Just a thought Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  16. Great job BruceS!! Congratulations on the impressive stats Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  17. I agree with BrianSnat, i think ammo boxes are being fazed out. The have more up to date ways to keep ammo vac sealed etc. Gee wonder if we will have to vac seal our caches in the future? Again just my humble opinon, Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  18. They don't bother me when i find them. As stated earlier its still money. I found that they spend just as good as regular dollars. They spend way better than Mctoys, dirty or not. Just my humble opinion Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  19. Beam me up Scotty, they have it figgured out Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  20. Your right this is the place we were supossed to be beamed up at. Hay Scottie where are you? two to beam up. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  21. Sounds good to me too. There is a geocamping trip in Orlando this comming weekend and The Federation is having a gettogether the 22nd of Feb Just south of Gainesville. There will be alot of interest in a web site i think. Hope it all comes together, like the federation i don't have web site building experience but will be willing to help out any way i can. Altree59@yahoo.com Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  22. Guess in our hobby being off the beaten path the law of averages would catch up to you. A person hiding a body would look for a place just like places we put caches in. I used to work with the telco in South Fl and given the amount of houses we were going to it would come up there too, finding one of the subscribers that expired. I was lucky but one or two of the other repairman did find people that died of nat causes. It is a sobering thing just hearing how close you came then. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  23. If you are planning to be in the North Florida area let me know we have some real good caches up here that are worth visiting. Would be glad to meet up with you to do some caching. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  24. It isn't as bad as it sounds. I keep my eyes open and carry a walking stick. I have not had any bad experiences geocaching yet but you never know. I have come upon gaters hunting and have had no problems of course it helped that i had a shotgun or rifle at the time lol. Usually the caches arn't in a area that will give you problems. I have been in the swamps looking for a cache but was my fault as there was another way to get to it that i didn't know about. Just use common sense when in the woods and keep your eyes open and you should not have a problem. The spiders arn't that bad but look first befor putting your hand into a stump or opening. The bananna spiders are just big and had them walking on me on many ocasions going through the woods. they aren't agressive and other than big should not give you a problem. Again just use common sense and keep your eyes open. Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
  25. I don't mind paying the park fee, as they usually are worth the money just to see the park and its features. I have been to a number of state parks and the fees arn't that bad. Worth the fee to keep the parks open without them there would be a great number of caches that would not be accessable to anyone. They usually have a annual fee for state parks that covers all the parks in the state. (at least Florida anyway) Someone that can't afford the fee has the option to go to the many free areas there are with caches in them. It would be nice to note it in the cache discription though. Just my opinion Altree (you will not starve with a p38 and a can of food)
