  1. Hello I have three Geocoins that I bring along with me to my cache finds. They are my coins, and I do not intent to let these ones into the wild. If I meet up with another geocacher at a cache or event, I will let them log a find on the coins. So here are the questions. Can I log a "Visit" for my coins to the caches I visit? I notice others mentioning that they bring coins along, and log visits to caches like this. I have tried logging a visit by dropping then when I log the find, and then picking them bach up immediately. Problem is, the KM's are not mounting up. Maybe because I am only logging a note, not a visit, because I have already been to those caches, and was just visiting for the purposes of logging the coins visit. I also generate a whole lot of chat in the email notifications when doing this. So is there a way to just log the coin visit, clock up the KM's on the coin, and not have to go through the drop/pick up tasks? Also, how would a fellow ceocacher log the find for the coin? Thanks Davud
  2. Hello I have some geocoins that I would like to share with other geocachers. As I am in Australia, and had to buy all of these from the USA, there is a fair bit of value in them. I am not ready at this stage to let them roam freely, as I am affraid that they will be "lost". I have read too many stories in these forums of lost and muggled caches/geocoins/TB's. So my idea is to create a multi part geocache. The first part would be to a microcache, with a piece of paper with a secret word on it.. When the geocacher finds that, they will use geocaching.com to send me a message with that word. I will then send that geocacher the co-ordinates of the cache with the coins. Any thoughts on this? Is it a good idea or not a good idea. The way I see it, this gives me a way to track who has been to the cache, and makes it a little harder to find as it is a multi stage cache. It is less likely that these geocachers who go through this process would be a first time cacher who just takes the coins and is never seen again. The potential is still there for a previous cacher to return to the cache at a later stage and take the coins, but this cannot be helped unless I move the cache after each find. Unlikely... Oh, and the mission of the coins would obviously be to stay in the cache... The alternative is that I just keep the coins here in the house, which is a bit booring. Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. Hello Is it considered bad form to retrieve a travelbug from my own GeoCache? I am new to Geocaching, and am still learning the rules. If it is bad form, I will drop by and have a look at the TB, if it is OK, I will pick it up, record the find, and move it on. I have never seen a TB yet. Thanks David
  4. Heard about GeoCaching about 2 years ago. Got a GPS about a year ago. Entered co-ords for my first cache find 2 days ago. Found our first cache today. I am the gadget geek, and the one who found Geocaching. My wife was very keen when I told her about it, and came along. She actually found the cache, after I got us there. Funny thing is, we have walked past that spot so very many times, as it is on our usual walking path. We are looking forward to our next cache. We both like walking, this just gives us different routes, and a new focus.
