  1. Glad to see I'm not the only one, nothing works in browse on Chrome or Edge. I tried both on two different computers, probably has something to do with the archive problem on some other threads??
  2. I am also wanting to buy a tablet. I also want to be able to load my gps from the tablet. I'm glad I found this thread. Since reading it I am thinking I can kill two birds with one stone. Upgrade my iphone4 to a Note2. If I can, I have a question, I see AndyT1 loaded his oregon via his SD card, can the PQs just be copy and pasted to the gpx file on the gps? (I am currently using the SD card for my backroad map). If I can't upgrade my phone yet or I decide not to, I am interested in the Nexus 7, there is an earler post saying that in theory it can be done but nobody has come on here saying they did it. Has anybody used their Nexus7 to load their gps yet? I have a Garmin Map62S and a Oregon for backup. thanks......
  3. I was surfing the forums looking for something and came across this thread, very interesting. You have a challenge cache that has been archived but people want to adopt it and the reviewer will not allow it. I see pages of people wondering why it can't be done. Well it has been done,I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but just go to GCG2VM or GCB5BF. Also go to the reviewers website wizardofooze.com and read about team KFWB. They are legendary on Vancouver Island. They started doing very complex and interesting caches at the very start of geocaching. Like GG , they got fed up with Groundspeak and earlier this year archived over 300 caches. There was such an outcry that Groundspeak unarchived some of them and let people adopt them. I think it depends on the cache, the cache owner and the reviewer, if they don't get along there could be a problem and than the "RULES" are enforced. I know I am comparing over 300 caches to 1 but they all are unique and mean something different for everybody, just my 2 cents........
  4. I like doing unknown or puzzle caches. This one looks like fun to do, just a little driving to find the correct spots, not to boring, if you want to see a " work hard for a smiley" than check out this one GCAAE8. You can see why it is now going on seven years since it was last found.
  5. Yes there is a cache there, just not the plaque. There was also another cache up the hill not far from the original when we were there a couple of summers ago.
  6. I see that google has some new "testing" features on their map page I always use google maps to see where I am going to go caching for the day, weekend etc... and than make PQs from there. I think their drag and zoom feature is a perfect way to make pq's. The more caches you do obviously the farther away you have to go from home. Where I live on Vancouver Island some of the closest caches to my home coords tend to go across the water to the mainland, this drag and zoom feature would be perfect so we could manipulate the area that you want to do this. I know this is just at a beta stage on google but check it out and see what you think, and I'm trying to get the bug in Groundspeaks ear early.... mulligan

    Firefox?

I don't know if it's my computer or Groundspeaks update. I use Firefox as my browser and it seems since they updated their site , when I log in to the google map feature to find caches, it comes up but it just searches for caches and never finds them. I flipped to explorer and even loaded google chrome and they both find the caches fine. I just don't want to use the other ones. Anybody else had this problem?
  8. That's what I thought but somebody who had found it said they had to figure out the new coords and than they found it, had me puzzled, thanks for clearing it up. As to the person who asked me what GPS I had, it is an old Magellan explorist 100 I bought 4 years ago. Time to upgrade that too. I also have a blackberry with cacheberry for paperless caching, thanks again.....
  9. This is probably a newbie question that can be answered very quickly by all the wizards that are on this site. My gps can't project waypoints and I would like to learn the old school way anyways. I am at the final stage of a cache and the clue is 55.9 T I assume this is 55.9 degrees true north? If it is, how do I add that to my north setting? I know it's probably very simple but I need to learn this. Also can anybody send me a link of a site that gets into more detail on this......thanks in advance.....
