  1. You guys have almost a hundred finds and DON'T HAVE A GOS!!!! You should be giving a seminar about what you are doing RIGHT!!!!!
  2. Oh, I love to go with other people! My wife LOVES geocaching much, much more than I do and it's a pleasure to be with her or my daughter when they find a cache! I do often go alone or with the dog. He's kind of a knuckle-head though and chokes himself the whole time so that's not always fun to listen too for long periods of time. My Partner is a good friend and the guy who got us into Geocaching to begin with. I guess that we really are not good caching partners though sine I tent to see finding the cache as a reward at the end of a journey and he tends to see it as the reason for the journey. And i HATE having to kill myself finding a cache (that's not rated as difficult) once on site.
  3. I was wondering what the general consensu is about going out with other cachers. I am fully anoyed with my geocaching partner. He makes finding the cache a competition and insists on re-hiding the thing in such a way that it will be imposable for the next guy to find it. I guess he "wins" more that way. He "believs" in the numbers and is getting ready to celebrate a milestone even though at LEAST three of his "finds" are caches that he already FOUND but "over two years ago so it counts as a new find". WTF? Um.... I think he;s cheating. He likes to "win" while we are watching TV too.
  4. Found the solution: thinner socks! I had a pair of thin, totally wool-less socks that I bought years ago for skiing. They did the trick. I spent a LOT more time on ym feet today than I had planned on and NO blisters! WOOT!
  5. I want to see my log entries for more than 30 days ago. How can I change this setting?
  6. His natural environment! Sadly, he must leave the house from time to time and he gets......enthusiastic about helping his little furry wilderness friends get their exercise to!
  7. How in the world can you "cheat" at Geocaching? It's not a competition it's a recreational activity. I suppose that you can LIE about finding caches but.....why? I suppose there are people out there that have to "win" even if they are just watching TV but not me. I have signed countless logbooks over the years and felt no need to share that with a bunch of strangers on the internet. I typically only log finds when my wife is "into" caching or my buddy who I like to go with preasures me into it. I have found WAY more than 22!
  8. I have been wearing LL Bean socks which seem to be "good socks" and sneakers or (more often) some LL Bean boots that I got a few years ago that most closely resemble these ones from the current catalog or even my 511 work boots. The Beans are 8 wide (my size) and the 511s are 8 1/2. Same blister. Same spot. now, I have heard of Moleskin after you HAVE a blister but never to prevent one. I'll have to try that out! Oh, I should mention that I am old, fat (+40 lbs) and out of shape and carry a thirty pound or so pack (baby) when I'm out there.
  9. I keep getting blisters on my feet, in the same spots, even hiking just a few miles. I tried different shoes and socks but the blisters come back. Any tips or tricks to keep them at bay? The last time I did any "hiking" I weight 50 pounds less and was wearing combat boots and I rarely got blisters and they were random when they did occur.
  10. Hello. I was wondering what you guys might be using to tie your dog out in open spaces? In most situations it is not allowable for Cooter to just run around if I'm looking for a cache or doing something else. In the woods I can usually find a tree to tie him to but if we are in a field or other open space what can I do? I am thinking some thing like a tent-spike with a snap-ring on it or something. I can't tie him to anything portable since, even though he's just a Jack Russell, he dragged a 65# kayak a couple hundred yards once to get to his people.
  11. Fair enough. How do I open a location (waypoint) that I down-load from Geocaching.com in the same window as a list of other way points/ The only way that I can figure to get the new waypoint on an existing list is to open it in it's own window and cut-and-paste it into the window with the list in it. There has to be a better way.
  12. Oh boy do I ever remember my first Cache! We went out with a friend, a seasoned Geocahcer. He had a little placard that he would mount inside his front window when he parked anouncing to the world that his vehicle was engaged in "Geocaching Activity". Wow. He picked a good one too. We hiked out into the woods and we had to dial in the GPSes and follow the trails and then, ultimately find the cache itself. Freebird! Wow. I was tired and excited. SO much so that I dragged another friend out to do it the next day. A Muggle! He and I were both prior military men and if we knew nothing about Geocaching we knew about Land Nav. We gathered a list of local caches that were in a nature park and off we set. We got out of the car, set our azimuth, picked out our land mark and off we went. Over hill and dale, through thicket and swamp, we stayed on track and zoomed in on out target. We did this several times over that day and only after tearing our pants and filling our shoes with mud and a small fish or two did we realize that there was a trail passing very close to each and every cache that we found. We were doing it the hard way. I guess my point is that you really do get out of this what you put into it. Any of those finds would have been a pleasant hike in the conservation area but we made each one a conquest. Those hikes are out there. Those conquests are out there. And the easy ones designed to run up your numbers are out there too. Let's not disparage all of those road-side caches though. While you or I might find them to be less than challenging and not particularly interesting, there are lots of folks who aren't willing or able to get into the woods and bushwack and hike. Those silly little parking lot finds allow those folks the chance to get out of the house, spend time with their families or friends and have a sense of victory in finding a tinny little magnet with a scrap of paper in it to record their glory. Personally, I like the hiking kind but we went out and did a bunch of roadside ones last week end and it was actually more fun than I thought. Getting out of the house, away from the computer and spending time with friends is never a bad thing!

    EasyGPS

That's the crux of the problem. I see that the designer has a map on the sample screen but I can't for the life of me access this Map menu that the RM refers to or figure out how to get any kind of map whatsoever on the screen. I also can't figure out how to add more than on e.log file without opening a new window and then cutting and pasting. HELP!
