  3. Today is your last chance to submit offers on these coins. I will be accepting offers until midnight pacific time. Final notification to winners will be made no later than the 2nd. Thanks again for looking.
  4. A week to go. Hope everyone is having safe and happy holidays.
  5. For some reason I can't edit the original post any longer. There is now an offer on both of the Pursuit of Caching Pie Coins. I will be updating those who make offers if someone else makes a higher offer. Would it be helpful to have the current offer prices posted (not who the current high bidder is), or would most prefer to have the bids be sealed?
  6. Post and list has been updated with better details about this sale. Thanks for your questions and helping me get the kinks worked out. Happy Holidays!
  7. Thanks for the info keewee...I've corrected the list and added more information about the terms of sale.
  8. Hi Everyone! Sadly I haven't been able do to much caching in the last year. I am finishing up graduate school and my family has decided to move overseas (nothing official yet but may be moving to Japan). As we have begun the process of deciding what will come with us and what won't....it's time to move my geocoin collection along. I'd like to offer them up to those of you who have collections and are active here instead of selling them on eBay. I know that most/all of these coins are sold out and some are quite rare. I do not know the value of many of these coins in the current market but I will entertain any reasonable offers. I have attempted to sort the coins by manufacturer and list the metal finish. I can supply photos of coins that you are interested in prior to purchase. Activated coins will be transferred through the adoption feature. Additionally, if one of these is a personal coin in this list that you would rather have released into the wild, gifted to someone, or returned to you please let me know. Thanks for looking! TERMS:BEST OFFER BY January 1, 2012. All offers and communication will be handled via email. Please specify the coin or coins you are interested in and your offer price for each coin. Please include your email or geocaching name where you would like to be contacted at. You will be notified if your offer has been rejected or accepted and what the status of your offer is throughout the process. Final notifications of best offer will occur no later than January 2, 2012. Buyers will pay actual shipping based on weight, destination, and service selected. Items listed in Blue have offers recorded by at least one party. Items listed in Red have been sold. 9. I spent the past few days working and away from my family for the holidays. My clients were grumbly to say the least and I'm exhausted. I got home today looking forward to having tomorrow off. On my table is a black padded envelope and a mysterious coin. After the past few days this was truly a great pick me up! Thank you Geo_Bandit... Coin #63
  10. I've attempted to contact Tasia through email multiple times. She responded in September that she would check on the status of the birthday mission that we are missing from Q3. I sent another email to follow up a few weeks ago as no response had been received. While I realize that computer problems happen and life often intrudes into our fun times I've hit my limit. I feel embittered and frustrated by the lack of communication and the lack of follow through by the person responsible for the mission. Tasia, thank you for trying to do something fun for the community but it looks like this one has just jumped the tracks. To the cacher in New Zealand who had the mission for DBSO Monkey (From JULY)...know that your lack of honor in completing the mission has made for a very sad monkey. With the other Monkey's birthday just over two weeks away with no names for Q4 yet we are going to withdraw from participating any further. Best of luck to those who remain...
  11. On the compass screen press menu to bring up the sub-menu and then choose calibrate compass. Be sure to hold the gps level and you get to spin in a few circles and your done!
  12. DBSO Monkey's birthday mission hasn't been received either. Tasia was going to try to get an update but we haven't heard anything. I too have a feeling that the package wasn't shipped and likely won't be. It's a shame that some people sign up and then don't follow through on their end of the deal. I'm currently debating on if I should drop our second mission for Q4 and just moving on to something else.
  13. Just a note to say that my Follow Your Dreams coin arrived today. Thanks again!
  14. The following is a personal opinion based on some first hand experience. When searching for a mint that I could work with to make my own coins I found information hard to find other than the "middle-vendors" listed here. When I was at GeoWoodstock last year I met quite a few coin vendors. One in particular had made some coins that I liked quite a bit and struck up a conversation with them about the process, how they got started in minting coins etc. They were happy to answer my questions. However, when I asked which mint they used I got a nasty look and stone silence. They told me if I wanted to mint a coin that I could pay them to do it, shoved some brochures in my face, and made it clear I was no longer welcome at their booth. I had already purchased quite a bit of their coins while I was there and given that reaction I would have forgone the purchase if this conversation had happened before I turned over my money. The mints that these "middle-vendors" use are held like a secret because this is how people make their money. When I was attempting to find out the mint location for an upcoming trip to China (thought it would be fun to get photos etc) I was contacted via PM from a cacher who had worked directly with Jian Pins (one of the larger mints in china) and they provided me with contact information and tips for working with them directly. In a course of conversation it became clear why this is such a closely held secret. They had minted a 1.5" coin, 2D, enamel filled, (no tracking), and in a small run for a total cost of less than $5.00 per coin. In fact the shipping cost of the coins was more then the cost to have the minted. They submitted very course artwork and the mint revised it for them and was willing to make additional changes until the customer was happy. I've seen the results and they are beautiful. Now if you add in the cost of custom icon, engraving, and tracking numbers you would still be able to mint a coin at a reasonable cost where a markup to $10.00 or more per coin turns quite a profit. To be clear the larger companies that work as "middle-vendors" do provide a service and as such have every right to make a profit from the designs they work with. I hold no ill will to anyone who is trying to put food on the family or start a business that produces art commodities for this community. And yes, some coins will be more expensive to produce due to a variety of reasons so not everyone is making tons of money by doing this. Due to the slim margins many would choose not to share who they mint with because it keeps competition down and prices up. Basic economics. After all if everyone who wanted to mint a coin decided to work directly with the mint and offer their support services to others the market would flatten out and many of the current vendors may not find enough profit to continue doing custom coins. Ultimately it is up to the vendor if they wish to release information about who they use to produce products for the end customer, as it is their business. However, I would prefer to see the information more available as it will hopefully encourage others who may not be able to afford to pay for the additional services of the vendors to have a personal coin done at a more affordable price.

  16. Wow! as a friend of various avian creatures I'm really impressed by your new coin. Congratulations!
  17. Sorry that the mint couldn't make it happen the way you wanted. Sometimes it's the little details that are frustrating. The coins are indeed quite beautiful and I'm happy to have them in the collection.
  18. I have to start by saying that these coins are in fact VERY Beautiful. I am quite pleased with the purchase but do have a few observations. As noted above they don't stick together. They are recessed by a very small amount by they don't really nest properly. Due to the faces of the coins being slightly convex they just slide on top of one another. Given the cost associated with this set and the "special feature" in the design not really working, I do feel slightly disappointed and somewhat mislead. I am not saying that this was intentional but when the coins don't actually do what they were advertised to do I can help but wonder if this project should have spent more time being reworked by the mint. Alternatively, it might have been better to go with all three being trackable and having the back designed instead... Again, beautiful coins with a great theme...just didn't live up to expectations.
  19. One of our good friends completed this challenge and shared her coin with us this past weekend. Very well designed coin and a fun challenge from the sounds of things...thanks for creating a unique caching related challenge coin.
  20. OOh, a coin on the list I want and that I can afford Email sent! Edit: Email Received, Invoice Received, Invoice Paid (all in under 12 minutes!)
  21. The following email was sent to those who had reservations on 8/19/08: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pursuit of Caching Pie Coin Reservation Holders: Thank you so much for you patience while I await the final coins from the mint. The initial batch arrived this week and there was a printing error whereby the mint mistaken shipped all of the regular edition coins with the blue base. As you know, the bases were intended to be done in all the different colors of the pie pieces. I am working with the factory now to have the coin order re-done on a rush basis and still expect that they may arrive as early as this Friday. At the very latest, I expect to be shipping these out next week. It is for exactly this reason that I did not invoice anyone ahead of the actual coin arrival. As soon as the coins arrive (hopefully Friday) I will start sending invoices via PayPal and get your coins in the mail to you. Thanks again for your patience - this is a really cool coin and I'm sure you'll love them when they arrive! Sincerely, Applewomyn (aka Jarrett)
  22. Some beautiful butterflies arrived in Oregon today. Beautiful as always! I don't plan to activate them anytime soon...anyone know what the new icon looks like?
  23. Naomi: No worries about the delay. Found out what happened and actually kind of find it funny. However now that you have outed yourself, DBSO is jumping up and down with excitement! We will be sure to post when the package arrives. Sorry to hear about your mission, that's a bummer. Warm Regards, The_Geomonkeys
  24. DBSO Monkey's birthday was on July 10th but she has yet to receive her package. Since tomorrow in August would it be possible to get an update about her mission please?
  25. As long as the colors are flush and the pattern isn't broken by something else it should work. I'm very interested in watching this project come to completion. I was planning on something like this but am still working on some personal coin designs so I'm glad someone will beat me to it!
