  1. Laval K-9 Dear Keeper of the Missions Joyeux Noel, my tasks are done - the post has run. I am going to take a long winter's nap - until SignalMas Eve!! 2. You're more than welcome, my friend! Last night, under the full moon, was an auspicious time for planting Ammo Can Cache Seeds I am told ? JimRKY
  3. Laval K-9 I was so happy to receive another package today, and to learn that one of mine has been delivered, also. Mission 0ne Sent my info to Laval K-9: 14-11-2019 Name received from Laval K-9: 26-11-2019 Sent my gift: 3-12-2019 9534 6107 1558 9337 2871 82 My gift arrived at destination: I received a gift: 4-12-2019 9505 5141 2967 9336 1728 12 Mission two - COMPLETE Sent my info to Laval K-9: 14-11-2019 Name received from Laval K-9: 28-11-2019 Sent my gift: 3-12-2019 9505 5107 1558 9337 2871 90 My gift arrived at destination: 7-12-2019 Per USPS Tracking I received a gift: 4-12-2019 Thanks to a friend from Portugal. I will be saving this gift until Christmas Eve to enjoy!
  4. A simple search on Amazon, ETSY or EBay will yield RITR logs of every size up to 4" x 11". And other 'goodies'. Prices tend to be better on EBay but always be careful - look to see if you pay freight on top ? Keeping an ammo can's contents safe from water through numerous visits can be a challenge. I usually put the log in at least a separate baggie, if not one of the dreaded 'Throw-out' plastic containers, depending on the ammo can size for that reason, and to just make it easier to find amongst the SWAG. That just gave me a thought for an 'Evil Container'...a Missile can with successive inner containers down to a Centrifuge Tube with a log. Bwoo-ha-haaaa! ?
  5. Laval K-9 - my apologies for posting late, I was a-bed for a couple of days and mostly out of it ... but a package arrived on December 4th. It was large and...rattl-ey - it was intriguing. Knowing that things were coming from unknown places, I asked My Dear Bethie_Biker to check it out after slipping a flap for her. She oohed...and ahhhh-ed...and generally made me suffer - - and finally verified that it was, indeed, a Christmas Mission. She didn't let me know from whom it was, even, but sealed up the flap. I will open and enjoy this gift on Christmas Eve! Thank you to my, as yet, Unknown Benefactor ! I will share it (mainly as I have a captive audience!). I wish for SignalMas! SignalMas, the natal Holiday Celebration of Signal the Frog. A Geocaching Event in which every Reviewer, all over the World, sets a special cache for just One Day with Special Powers - each cacher who finds a SignalCache will obtain the prized SignalMas Souvenir of that year. Every year cachers will gather in groups, waiting for the birth (publishing) of the SignalCachen, wearing ugly sweaters and sharing exaggerated Caching Tales of adventures and Cachers of Yore, then rushing out to earn the souvenir! The day after SignalMas, TadPolling Day, each cacher who received a SignalMas Souvenir may enter a vote for their Local Reviewer - whether they were Naughty or Nice - and a King of the Reviewers is chosen by an arcane, mathematical formula. The King of the Reviewers account carries a special König Frosch souvenir for the next year. Yes, Virginia, there is a Signal - and each year we celebrate him at (!) (!) (!) SIGNALMAS !
  6. I didn't notice the main reason why we cache 90% GPSr: No Phone Service in areas ? A GPSr may give in to the 'Tree Dance', and all have issues near power lines, but they don't leave you high and dry (unless you've saved everything to the phone) when the bars drop. We do use both, but only to 'check' the GPSr as such. Very rarely do we 'go free-styling' on the phone although a lot of people do use it exclusively.
  7. As has been said, you can use just about anything. I'd strongly suggest that, unless your container is very water-tight and will not be subject to condensation, use Rite-in-the-Rain paper or logs. You can buy the paper online to print your own, or many companies, including Groundspeak, sell logs and logbooks made of this paper. It is water resistant and helps with mold, too - just makes it nicer to find a clean cache with a log ready to sign.

Love it all! These may not get out in the field for quite awhile Bethie Biker wants to thank Kini_Ont for the great package that she received - I'm a bit jealous of the 15 Year Nova Scotia Geocoin (my forbears are from PEI). I can hear in the distance...'She grows on your slowly, The first time you meet...' And I'd like us all to remember that This year Halloween is on a Thursday...so it's Ladies Night Out! To my Mission recipient Sensenschwinger, apologies if you package has not yet made it to you. If you haven't received it within a week or so please message me through the Geocaching website and I will send a replacement by faster post! Mr. Macklin’s Jack O’Lantern David McCord - 1897-1997 Mr. Macklin takes his knife And carves the yellow pumpkin face: Three holes bring eyes and nose to life, The mouth has thirteen teeth in place. Then Mr. Macklin just for fun Transfers the corn-cob pipe from his Wry mouth to Jack’s, and everyone Dies laughing! O what fun it is Till Mr. Macklin draws the shade And lights the candle in Jack’s skull. Then all the inside dark is made As spooky and as horrorful As Halloween, and creepy crawl The shadows on the tool-house floor, With Jack’s face dancing on the wall. O Mr. Macklin! where's the door? Happy Halloween!

  18. Bethie_Biker and I are a bit disabled, and also still mainly use our GPSR to cache, so perhaps we plan a bit better - we use the Logs for a cache to try and see if there are DNF's, what the Terrain and Difficulty are (if stages are missing from a multi), we use Google Satellite Map view to see if there are physical boundaries that will be impassable for us. We also started doing State County Challenges a couple of years ago so that makes us more aware of things, too - where the cache IS specifically. But if we don't try for a cache, we don't log a DNF - we didn't try. And if we didn't find the cache, we don;t expect a reward: We Didn't Find The Cache. For whatever reason - doesn't matter. I don't log miles against my trackables for DNF's, either (No Find - No Reward). We also carry Repair Items to do simple repairs to a cache - logs, tape, paper towels, etc.. Why be unable to log due to a wet/full log? Carry some to put in.Leave the cache better than you found it. Souvenirs for DNF's? If so - WHY PLACE HIDES??? Just DNF away until your fingers are too tired- or, better yet, create a DNF Bot to do the work. Tell HQ to charge Membership by the DNF LOL! We could easily get Events to Tera Attendance Levels by allowing attendance by DNF!! You can't make people not cheat. All you can do is be a decent person and enjoy the rewards of that - and Geocaching. The thrill of the hunt - the find - socializing with other cachers - placing a good hide. All First Person, Right Now - not digital or DNF ?.
  19. Oh how I hate to be the "wee, sma' voice" o' caution...but has no one thought that by relegating Browse to a secondary source point, the future is bright for costed 'upgrades' in function - much as occurred with Project GC? (I STILL can't get all of my FTF's to show up since that great day.) On another score - when will the New API be set in stone? I'm still having infrequent belly-flops from the site, especially with the Project GC interface (which I need for masny things, now) ?

I found wonderful things from The Netherlands! Egg preparing dyes and transfers, an Easter Bunny decoration which someone spent much time and care creating (!) - and a lovely Dutch 2018 Geocoin!! But - sadly, I still don't know whom to thank, personally. So, whomever the Geocacher (or cachers) are at 8XX1 nr. 17 - thank you for making my Easter so much more enjoyable!! ? And thank you, Claire and Wyatt Earp - Long may your Missions run! Happy Easter to all - and to all, a good find! JimRKY (can't wait for Halloween!!)
