  1. I just noticed that when I first posted my problem all the info wasn't given. I have the 60CSx. I did do a reset but no luck. First time it does this to me. So I reported the problem to Garmin, but no response yet. Anyways I went to see for an update which there was one and it worked. That's good news, but still doesn't explain why the problem in the first place.
  2. Problem resolved with the new update. But why it happened in the first place???
  3. I have a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx and since yesterday it won't lock onto any satelites at all. Not one. Even under sunny sky. I put brand new batteries and did a reset, but no luck. It turns on and I can see all the menues etc.. but no satelite lock. It can't find em ???
  4. When I go to my track log menu and choose a track and assign it a color it doesn't show on the map. None of my tracks chosen colors show up. The only color I get is the one chosen in the Track Log Setup, which I have no bypass.?? How can this be fixed?
  5. I've got Mapsend Topo Canada, along with 4 Magellan gps units. 1-SporTrak Color, 2-Explorist's, 1-Meridian Color. The first two I was able to upload a 64mb region, but now it tells me that I have exceeded my limit of gps units or SD cards.? Is their a work around to this problem? and Happy New Year
  6. Detail map files have to go in the detail map folder of either the internal or SD card of the explorist. But the format for SporTraks/Meridians and Explorists are two different things. I'm guessing when you refer to MapSend Canada that you mean MapSend Topo Canada, but I'm not familiar with their version numbering. In the states, the last version of MapSend Topo USA was 4.20. That program was not compatible with Explorists. It was replaced by MapSend Topo 3D USA, which is compatible with both. I see on the Magellan site that whatever is the current version of MapSend Topo Canada *is* compatible with both, as well...perhaps that's what you have. In Topo3D, one has to enter the serial number of the destination GPS at the time of map file compilationg. The program recognizes the number as denoting a particular , and generates the appropriately formatted file. I succeeded in bringing up the size as you mentioned. Now what I have is the discontinued version of Mapsend Streets and Destination Canada. Not the new topo version. My friend has the topo version and no problem. As I mentioned before I can download my version with the same file extension in the detail map folder, but his explorist won't see it. I know that it worked on my Sportrac. Maybe as you said, it may not be compatible weather it has the same extension or not. To bad. I wish there was a way to resolve this, but at least he has the new topo version. compatibilities...compatibilities...
  7. embra Thanks for the info. I'll check into that at work tonight. Now I know that my version of Mapsend works with Sportracs, but I tried it with my friends Explorist and it won't find or see the new region even if it has the same extension as the ones from his Topo map?? Plus on the SD card it is in the same folder as the other ones.?
  8. Just so You all Know I did a search first, but no luck. I've got Mapsend Canada version 4.01 and it won't let me download regions bigger than 16mb to my gps or SD card reader. Why? Is there a work around?
  9. I might be interested, but I would like to see a good photo of it showing what kind of scratches it has. Also what happened to it for them to replace the insides?
  10. Quality money I'd say seriously check out the Lowrance GPS's. I had a Magellan for years that I liked, but am now blown away with my new iFINDER Expedition C.
  11. I know that Google earth is compatible with Garmin and Magellan and when I zoom into an area I can see some trails. Not all, but it's a start.
  12. Yep I'm really happy with the color and detailed Topo map. I personally find that at this time that Lowrance doesn't get the credit they deserve for such good products. Hope they can be compatible with Google Earth in the future. I book marked your web site http://www.sitekreator.com/geo-lowrance/index.html Looks really interesting. I'll definitely check it out good. I don't even know what Geocaching means and what it's all about. Seams interesting though and I want to learn about it.
  13. I have been using a Magellan Sportrac Map for 3 years and I liked it a lot, but have been wanting a new one that offered topo maps of my area. Finally it came to reality. After some vigorous research I decided to get the "Lowrance iFINDER Expedition C & MapCreate Topo Canada". I was very impressed by all the options in it's menues along with the super detail of the topo map. I did a test and went out by atv on a 4 hr ride one way with it plugged into the atv's socket and put in the inside pocket of my parka. It traced my trail super good all the way. A friend of mine had ordered the Maggellan Explorist 600 and is very dissapointed in it especially since he saw mine. His topo map doesn't even compare detail wise and the 600 which cost him quite a bit more has a lot less in the menu options. We had the chance in comparing the two and he is now ordering an iFinder as well to replace the one he just bought. Sad for him, but I'm glad I had the chance to check his out because I was tempted to get one as well, but not anymore. Any ways I love it. Now am just waiting for the nautical map to be availlable.
  14. I'm going to jump in here in another note. Are there any battery chargers for Lithium AA?
  15. Is there a program like GPS Babel that will work with Lowrance?
  16. There have been several threads discussing the USB drivers required for Windows XP to see the reader. Have you downloaded the latest drivers from Lowrance.com? I checked their web site for the drivers and found them, but it was also mentioned that it was not necessary with version 6.3. I finally got a hold of Lowrance and they told me they had several bad card readers in their packages and are sending me a new one free express mail. Hope this does the job. Cause I can't wait to see this color topo on my Expedition.
  17. I also just received the same unit without MapCreate. I purchased maps Canada topo. Two problems at the start. I have a small horizontal bubble under the view screen like a needle. Very annoying. they are going to replace it for me, plus my software card reader is no good. Two different comp. won't see it. This is not a good start.
  18. I've just received it and installed it on two computers and the computers won't recognize the card reader. the software 6.3 keeps asking me to put in the card, but it's already in and my iFinder Expedition sees it. must be a faulty card reader. The computer doesn't even see it.Oh and the USB port is version 2. And I have been trying to get a hold of Lowrance Canada for 3 days and have been on hold for ages with no luck. They seem to be assisting a lot of customers. So far my impressions aren't good, but the unit is nice.
