  1. Sheesh, I apologise to anyone that might have been offended. Yeah, that sounds sincere. See how I used the "rolleyes" smiley? It means I didn't really mean it. Combine your use of it with starting your "apology" off with "Sheesh" makes it look like you're sorry you got reported, not that you called someone dumb and categorized all blondes as such. ...Especially after this added to your edited post: Making it a smaller font doesn't make it any less offensive. Not surprised at all why it seems you don't get why someone is upset you've posted spoilers to their caches.
  2. I also see that. Or rather, I don't see the Report button. Oddness. MrsB I agree, I noticed it a few pages back. Go look at the locked thread in the UK section, since the "Quote" & "Multiquote" buttons are gone, it's even more broken, it looks like the next post is part of their signature! I suspect that they have some broken code in their own sig line that makes this happen. In the meantime, since I can't report their post for calling someone "dumb as a box of blondes" I'm reporting this post. C'mon, now. Not knowing that the TOU don't allow insulting others (in this case, both the poster and all blondes that might be participating in the thread) means that you must be... Unfamiliar with the Terms of Use.
  3. I don't think that word means what you think it means.Yes I do:In that case, your sentence needs a verb.No... an adverb would need a verb. An adjective would need a noun. The noun is "trait". Please don't bless me for that, Frank. Actually, the sentence is missing a verb, but it is a common turn of phrase, where the verb is implied. When reading that, it really should read "It is a trait fast unbecoming..." This is, of course, ignoring the larger typo (unless he was really calling being decent unbecoming). I believe, to satisfu all the grammar fiends, it should have read more like this: "THANK YOU for standing for decency! The lack of it is a trait unbecomingof many an American, sadly!" Of course, I'm running the risk of putting words in his mouth, something Granny reminds us isn't right.
  4. I watched the video you linked to. From the info in that video please tell me what cache that is. If you can't then it's not a spoiler. At worst if you find yourself hunting a cache and that location looks familiar you might remember having seen a video of that place, but that's the only way it could spoil anything. You cannot watch that video, identify the cache and go find it. Groundspeak made a request, and assured him that they had no recourse. They did not threaten to close his account or take any other action. Lots of hype in this thread, not many facts, despite the Groundspeak request and follow up being posted here for anyone interested in the truth to read. Funny thing, that video. He could post the GC# for that one and be fine, it's one of his own caches.
  5. While I don't necessarily disagree with your logic, I am concerned about your getting mad. If it makes you mad, why bother getting out and signing the log? Is it really worth it if it makes you mad? I rarely find someone who is qualified to say they are not a newb actually saying it. Trying to be courteous is the right thing to do, and to hide behind "I'm not courteous because I don't have to be" is a very poor attitude to take if you plan on getting along with others.
  6. No kidding, but I do find it strange that it's taken you this long to realize that it's next to each of your posts.
  7. Wow. Just wow. Please tell me the "" means that you don't really believe that.
  8. Make it a puzzle based on a Russian Cipher and call it "Tнз Мотнзяlфдd гяфм tнз Мотнзяlдиd."
  9. ...with the full blessing of Groundspeak. They know that such a system is subject to abuse, yet did it anyway. Do they at least show names for the votes?Just because Groundspeak is using the thumbs up/down system that they are does not, in any way, mean that they are giving "full blessing" to those people who are indiscriminately giving "Thumbs Down"s to any challenge they read. Imagine, if you will, an ice cream stand. The owners have decided to make it self serve. The ice cream is pre-packaged into different sizes and customers pick the size they want and drop their money into a mail slot in the wall. There is great potential for abuse of this system since the stand goes for long periods of time completely unsupervised. Does this mean they are giving a "full blessing" to anyone who wants to take the ice cream without paying? Of course not. To suggest they are is foolish. Oh, I chose ice cream because this is a real life example, not because it's Toz's favorite metaphor.
  10. Why should I be threatened with a suspension for expressing my opinion of the situation?Does this ring a bell? Perhaps you should revisit the Forum Guidelines:
  11. I'm going to answer the question posed in the title of the thread: ...but I'm going to answer it with a question:Why does it take so long for cachers to post Needs Maintenance and/or Needs Archived logs on a cache that is "definitely" lost? If your fellow cachers had brought this to MadMin's attention back when it first was suspected to be missing, perhaps it wouldn't have been an issue. The fact that prior to the string of DNFs, there were 78 finds and only 1 other DNF (and that was because the group wasn't prepared for the terrain) indicates to me that it probably is gone, but a NM back in May would have given the cache owner more time to check on the cache. So, don't get upset at the reviewer, get mad at the cachers who wouldn't pull the trigger earlier when it was obvious there was a problem!
  12. ... But mine beat yours in title accuracy. Thanks for the update. Perhaps a moderator should merge the topics.
  13. The last two owner notifications I've gotten on caches had no cacher names in the email, and the link to their profiles was http://coord.info/PR0. The body of the email is as follows: Both notification emails were either Notes or DNFs emailed after 9 pm (Eastern Time) tonight. The last Found It Log, sent at 6:10 pm, has the names and proper links included. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, is it happening to all logs? If you go to the cache page you can see who logged the note, it just seems to be a glitch in the email notifications...
  14. Yep! A lame attempt to copy Facebook, Twitter, etc. How is this better than listing the date? Anyone???? Bueller?????They keep trying to be all those other sites. I would not be surprised if they are trying to move away from a hidden container type of game. Is the traditional cache an endangered species?Due to a lack of caring on the feedback site, I propose we all send our complaints to complain2gof@gmail.com. While I haven't heard back yet, my past complaints have gotten prompt responses!
  15. Not sure about the overwriting, but I' pretty sure the maps have to be in a particular folder in the GPS's internal memory to be recognized. I'd test this out if I had my GPS handy...
  16. You mean IGD ≠ International Gatorade Day?
  17. No inside info. Just what's been posted in the other thread and a bit of educated guessing. Educated Guessing is best done from an informed point of view. Your statement that Jeremy said that "new challenges don't have a listing page" isn't true, so the very basis of your assumptions is wrong. What Jeremy said is: In the context, all he said was that a cache page listing is not the same as a Challenge listing, so the form isn't the same. For all we know, the cache page listings may look restrictive in comparison to the new Challenges.
  18. I meant web site wise. If you can't create a listing to describe the challenge there must be a restriction on the kinds of challenges you can create. So far the only type of challenge I'm aware of is the "take a picture of yourself at this spot" type. The fact that the new challenges are not a replacement for challenge caches means something is restricted somewhere. How do you know the the challenges are way to restrictive? Do you have some inside information that the rest of us don't have?If he had inside info, it's because he's one of the Beta Testers for the feature, in which case, I bet he just broke the TOU for the Beta Test. Sadly, this means the only way to see if he's right is to see if his account is locked. Edit: Not locked yet...
  19. how is that when all "challenges" must have the word "challenge" in the title?...unless is misspelledRegardless of what the guidelines say, if you look at that bookmark, you will find you are missing out on challenges if you only search for the word "challenge." Perhaps those challenges that don't have the word in the title predate that rule?i found one misspelled and one missing the word "challenge" in four pages, hardly a reason to dismiss searching by that key word i also found some that are ridiculously against the the guidelines, i wonder how those got published I'm not dismissing using the keyword, but if that's the only method they use to search, they will miss out on some of the challenges. After finding 5 w/out the word in the title and still being a short distance through the list, I decided to go straight to the Massachusetts section, since the question was originally raised for challenges in that state. Out of 22 listed MA challenges, 4 didn't contain the word. So, if you live in MA and rely on searching by the word "challenge" you will miss 1 in every 6 caches. As to the guidelines, I am not a reviewer, and neither are you.

  21. Assuming you're talking about challenge caches (as opposed to the new "challenges", which are unrelated): All challenge caches are listed as mystery caches and should have "challenge" in their name, so look for that. I've looked in your area, and the only non-PM challenge cache I could find is this: http://coord.info/GC2KAF5 Limiting your search to caches with "challenge" in the name will skip over quite a few challenge caches. Frogcooke, you might check out this bookmark.
  22. From what I've read in Jeremy's posts, you are either grossly oversimplifying or just plain misrepresenting what the new Challenges will be.
  23. That does sound fun! I will run that one by my daughter and see how she likes it if it is OK with you and your daughter! If we do it I will give you credit for the Idea! I will also try to send you a link if we do it and it works out! If you are anywhere near my area we wont do it but I don't think you are. What about adding in a few different color sharpies so the cachers finding it can make the shirt pop! -WarNinjas That sounds fun, especially if you could borrow it from the cache temporarily and wear it an event.Very cool idea! The question is, if you wore the shirt to an event, would you let people sign it there? Would they be able to claim a find on the cache if they signed the log?
