  1. Hello Everyone,

Thank you all again for your support and interest. I am about halfway through writing my journal of the adventure from inception, planning, day by day logs and conclusion. I will be sending the story to geocaching blog when it is complete with photos and videos.

Also, I just finished a short interview with podcacher podcasts that will air on Sunday evening! More detail will follow in my journal.

Thanks for posting the link, Chris. It was so great to talk to you and hear the story first-hand. I wouldn't say "short" - the interview was about 36 minutes of great stuff!!

Look for show 425 to be posted sometime Sunday evening. I'll try to remember to come back to this thread to post a direct link.

  4. Hey Everyone - Just wanted to let you all know that there will be another Flash Mob event on Saturday November 14th - 10:00 am at Balboa Park, near the International Cottages. This is the 6th world-wide event.

We decided kind-of last minute to have one here in San Diego again - but there are already 133+ events planned in 20 countries on the same day and mostly at the same time.

Come and join the fun! Stay after the event to enjoy Balboa Park or join a smaller group to grab some nearby caches.

  5. 2008 was a very special year for us, but also very busy - so the 2008 Official PodCacher geocoins were not finished until early 2009. They are now available for sale in antique bronze finish.

    3395614448_ac9cb6331c.jpg

The coin highlights the arrival of our baby boy Sean - there's a stork flying away with an empty carrier and Sean has joined us on our geocaching hike in the backpack.

As always, there is the glow-in-the-dark sun, sparkling ocean water, sandy beach and treasure chest. The coins are trackable at geocaching.com

PodCacher coins are always popular and sure to be a collectors item. Order yours now! Ordering Information

  7. Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to give a heads-up that the next WWFM (World-Wide Flash Mob) event (WWFM V) is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10:00 am. Last time we inadvertently conflicted with another big event because we didn't get it posted soon enough - so we wanted to give plenty of notice this time! We hope to have the San Diego WWFM V posted as an event by early March.

At the WWFM IV last November, we had almost 7500 total participants at 154 events across 20 countries. WWFM V should be even bigger. There's also an official geocoin in the works (we'll post on the Geocoin thread when it is available).

Looking forward to a fun event!

Team PodCacher (formerly iTrax and FoxTail)

  8. I've just tried to do a PQ today which seemed to run but never turned up in my email, so I tried another 4 and they appear to have run but never showed up!

    Chris

Who is your ISP? If the PQs ran, they are probably being throttled or blocked by your email provider . . .

Since I changed to Gmail, I have not had a problem getting PQs that run.

Edit to add appropriate quote and to say I'm requesting a PQ . . . we'll see if it arrives in my Gmail account.

I just came to search to see if anyone else had this problem. Just created 4 PQs for a trip (caches along a route). The web site says they ran, but they have not shown up in my email inbox (also gmail). I have never before had a problem with gmail blocking or filtering my PQs.

    Anyone have a suggestion?

  9. I am hoping to attend our local FM event. But I'm not really sure what it's all about. What happens to all the pictures? Are they posted somewhere?

Yep, here are the group photos from WWFM 2 (last November) when we had 83 events and 4400 participants:

    WWFM 2 Group Photos

Cool coin BTW. The youtube helped me appreciate it more (the bling baby!) - does it have a unique icon?

    Yes again. Here's the icon:

  10. UPDATE on the WWFM III geocoin

The 2nd round of WWFM III geocoin sales will be open on the evening of May 7th. If you didn't get your very own flashy bling the first time around, you don't have to wait until May 10th. Due to overwhelming excitement and demand, the sales will be opened 3 days earlier than planned.

Head on over to www.coinsandpins.com after May 7th to get your keepsake coin. But don't delay!! The sale ends May 20th.

We just got ours in the mail yesterday and they are AWESOME! Here's a quick video that Sonny took of the coin:

Hope you all are going to attend a WWFM III event near you. It's going to be a blast.

  11. Hey everyone,

In case you haven't heard yet, there is another World Wide Flash Mob event being planned for May 10th. This is WWFM III. It will be at 10:00 am on Coronado Island. Here's the link: GC1APEQ

This event is part of a truly world-wide phenomenon. As of this morning, there are 137 events in 14 countries around the world, and more are being published every day! (bookmark list)

WWFM I: May 2007, 20 locations, 1000 geocachers in attendance

WWFM II: November 2007, 83 locations, 4400 geocachers in attendance

WWFM III: May 2008, more than 137 locations, ????? geocachers in attendance

If you had fun at Balboa Park and/or Mission Beach (near the roller coaster), come join us on beautiful Coronado Island, with the San Diego skyline view in the background.

The event will only be 15 minutes, but then we'll meet up at nearby coordinates so people can get together to plan a caching run or to get some brunch.

We also need volunteers to help make it all run smoothly, so if you'd like to help, please contact us via our profile or at podcacher@gmail.com. Thanks!

  12. We are excited to announce that the WWFM III Event Geocoin is now available for pre-sale! Order them through CoinsAndPins.com on their pre-sale page: http://tinyurl.com/289qzg

  13. Hey guys! As you know, the World Wide Flash Mob is happening THIS Saturday at Belmont Park, Mission Beach. We have 83 flash mobs coordinated with OURS, all around the world!

Sandy and I could use a few more hands / help. The jobs are small, simple and FAST (of course it’s a FLASH mob after all! )

The WWFM volunteers are meeting at a “secret” spot, some time before the event to strategize, ‘cause once the event rolls, there won’t be any time for directions. It’ll be a well choreographed event!

If you’re interested in lending a helping hand, please write us at podcacher@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you with the “inside scoop”.

    Thanks!!!!
