I've just found a bug in the Pocket Queries Generator on the site It turns out that that Pocket Queries don't produce consistent results depending on the criteria used to create them If you create a query containing ONLY your finds, the caches will not all be tagged properly as 'GeoCache Found'. Instead, only some of them, seemingly randomly, will be tagged as 'Found' while the majority will appear to be still 'Un-Found' caches. This problem does not exist when a query returns a mixed set of "Found" and "Unfound" caches. Regards, Fabien.

I'm going to have to change the stats wizard to handle this quirk IV_Warrior... About the missing caches: keep in mind that Pocket Queries dont return archived/disabled caches that you've found (yet anyways). I just found that out the hard way on some of my stats. Regards, Fabien. -
What can I say that has not been said already... These are just beautiful! I hope I come across one someday.

Rosco... I've figured out what was wrong. It's a server-side bug actually. Here's what I did to fix things: I've initialized you stats account using the web site interface by simply entering your location info. That caused the site to create the proper database records behing the scene. After that, there was no problem updating the newly created records from GPXSonar Stats Wiz.... Regards, Fabien. -

IV_Warrior... I'm glad that things are working for you Make sure to add all the PQs that you need to get a full total... I'm still working on getting mine actually... and with the new quotas, it's been hard (I'm missing about 200 finds! right now ) Also, caches that have been archived won't show in the PQs (yet). Pretty soon, the app will let you add these manually though. Regards, Fabien. -

Rosco... You need to provide the app with a GPX file containing your finds and hides. -
GPXSonar Stats Wizard is a Windows application intented to automate the posting of stats to keenpeople.com at the push of a button! How does it work? "GPXSonar Stats Wizard" makes use of Pocket Queries from www.geocaching.com referencing your finds and your hides. It crunches the numbers and posts the results to keenpeople.com automatically. All the statistics are generated by state to give you the best granularity. All you need to do is to create one or more Pocket Queries from geocaching.com in GPX format and feed them to "GPXSonar Stats Wizard" once. Of course, you'll also need to create an account on keenpeople.com for the magic to happen. You can download GPXSonar Stats Wizard here. You feedback and comments are welcome. Regards, Fabien.

Jim W... Even with an auto-load, you would still be able to load any other GPX file you want and certainly could have any number of them available to you. This should not be a problem. Regards, Fabien. -
The mirror site for GPXSonar has moved to the following address: http://home.comcast.net/~fabienroyer/ Please update your bookmarks. Regards, Fabien.

What's Up With Www.cachegear.com?
-=(GEO)=- replied to -=(GEO)=-'s topic in GPS technology and devices
Rosco... Nothing much... Somehow, I had managed to let the dynamic DNS record expire and the DHCP address of my network had changed also. I reconfigured everything, rebooted the router and everything went back to normal . -

Crashmore... Thanks for the update. I wish you had given me a warning about the change though . Don't worry about re-creating the mirror. I'll host it somewhere else. Thank you for hosting it thus far. It was much appreciated. Regards, Fabien. -

Rosco... I will. I have not looked at his files yet, but I'll post here as soon as I find out. -
gnbrotz... GPXSonar is 100% FREE! What gave you the idea that it wasn't!?!

There seems to be a problem with the CacheGear Site. Either the site is undergoing a complete overhaul or something radical happened... Crashmore?

The Geocaching Software Page on the site could stand to be updated, particularly when it comes to PDA apps! Things have evolved so much since MobiPocket, it's not even funny. So, my question is this: how can I get GPXSonar listed on this page? Regards, Fabien.
-
ClayJar... Thanks for creating this list I wish I had it when I first started working on GPXSonar... About the GUIDs vs. IDs issue: my personal preference would be to stay away from GUIDs: they're too large in the first place and require some mapping for lookups (again). Straight indexing using enums would be nicer. Jeremy... For multi-lingual support using enums, you could provide a "header" containing the equivalences between the enums and the strings to be displayed. This could be automated based on the geographical area selected in the PQ. That way, no matter what changes, the applications consuming the xml always do the right thing. Regards, Fabien.

I just stumbled on this thread... Great topic btw! A correction though: the home site for GPXSonar is http://gpxsonar.homeip.net Regards, Fabien.

Volwrath... What version of GPXSonar are you running and on what platform? I can't reproduce the problem that you reported with the 'Ignored' caches showing back up after reloading GPXSonar. No matter where I run the app from (Main memory or SD Card), ignored caches remain ignored. I'm thinking that there's something else about your filters causing the problem but I could be wrong. If I were you, I'd take a close look at the "Cache Attributes" filters. Regards, Fabien. PS: You may want to 'purge' GPXSonar from all these archived notes (by generating a report with the delete option checked) and from the "ignored caches" tags (Un-Ignore Dialog) because they will clutter the memory over time. PPS: please RTFM -
DomHeknows... Easy enough to do... Next release. Regards, Fabien.

Rosco... The 'Preferences' dialog show you which columns should be visible in the cache list. They're all checked by default.
