  1. Keep in mind that Approvers are volunteers and have to balance the rules of placing a geocache with the wishes and intentions of the cache hider. Given that he did approve some others of yours, It leads me to believe that the cache in question didn't meet some criteria. When the approve said "he didnt have time," he probably meant to re-review the cache again. Would you mind posting the comments from the approver when he denied the cache? This might bring some more insight into the situation.
  2. Can you provide a link to the cache page? Or cut/paste the url for the cache page?
  3. Never heard of it before....but it sounds like a great idea. Im sure its been done before at some event cache somewhere.
  4. "Powers that Be" or The Big Cheese of Geocaching.com. If one of them doesn't post today, you can contact them via contact@geocaching.com or contact@Groundspeak.com.
  5. I am not familiar with the unit, but does it come with mapping software for a PC? If it does, your best bet would be to check for updates on the software web page.
  6. If those are Yucca plants I see, I wouldn't stick my hands in there. Those spines are evil. Given that, I vote the little cactus on the ground.
  7. Jeremy: Are Jeep requests still being fulfilled, or are they all gone? I send in a request almost exactly 24 hours after you posted the info. I received an email receipt confirmation from Jeep 4x4, but I didnt hear anything after that. Do you think there is any chance I might still get one?

    Wow !!!

    Yeah...its pretty quick!
  9. There really aren't any set "guidelines" or "rules" for this sort of circumstance. It is generally up to the owner. I have heard of owners allowing the cache-finder to log a find before, but it is not common. Personally, I wouldn't want to log it as a find, because I DIDNT find it! Caches are muggled everyday and it is part of the game. The owner is challanged to hide it well enough where it wont and the finder is challenged to get there before it does dissappear. So, its whatever you and the owner decide together. If you log it as a find, nobody is going to "punish" you. It just depends how importand an accurate find count is for you.
  10. I am having a hard time making BaldEd's link work, but here is a good article: Paperless Caching
  11. The Badge & The Butterfly probably meant editing the email account on the current profile. No need to re-register with a new name.
  12. Walmart had an amazing deal. An etrex for 64 bucks. Thats only 32 each. I dont know how long the deal is though. Also check ebay, you can sometimes get one for almost a steal.
  13. I think the biggest question is whether they are a geocacher or not. Just ask: Geocaching? If they nod, say: may I join in the hunt? If they looked puzzled: I guess just say nevermind and be friendly anyway. Works for me.
  14. Yeah...if you own the bug you can either attach a laminted card with the tracking number (stating its a travel bug on it) or just attach your copy tag to it.
  15. "marking bug as missing" simply means you dont know where the bug is. It doesn't "deactivate the bug." If, by some chance, it turns up somewhere, the cacher who finds it can just "grab" it. I would "mark the bug as missing" because it is. Your bug is probably the victim of a seagul cacher. (Definition: These are cachers who appear on Geocaching.com shortly after Christmas or with the publishing of a local newspaper article. They buy the GPS, find 4 or 5 caches, place 1 or 2, grab 1 or 2 Travel Bugs, and then never log in to the system again. They also usually set up a dummy e-mail account for Geocaching e-mail, and never check the account again once they get bored.) There is a possibilty this cacher could decide to become active again in the future, and if he still has your bug, then there is a chance. I would wait a couple months and then re-release yout bug with the COPY tag.
  16. Many more Geoinjuries here: Geoinjuries
  17. Same thing happened to mine when I hooked mine up for the first time a couple weeks ago. I messed around with it for about a half hour and it eventually just started working. The only advice I have is to check the connection settings in both the Palm Desktop and the Palm itself. If you are connected via USB, modem, etc.
  18. Yes Walmart has a good deal too. Etrex Yellow
  19. Yeah...that seems logical too. XXXXXXXXXXX is EVIL, the DEVIL invented it! XXXXXXXXXXX is EVIL, it's the work of the devil, made to collect your souls and to turn you into brainless slaves of hell. I guess it could work for almost anything. A practical joke I guess.
  20. On the software you use to load coords to your GPS (EasyGPS, GSAK, etc.), open a new page and "receive all" waypoints from GPS. It should say something like "XXX of X number of waypoints received." Theres your number, just close the program and dont save. (I dont have an etrex legend...so i dont know if there is such a feature on it)
  21. Wouldn't upset me...only if the cacher moved it would it get to me. I think most here are talking about people who feel a container or location is "not good enough" and take it upon themselves to upgrade...even though there was nothing really wrong with it in the first place
