  1. Good News: After several discussions with our accountant and the local tax office we now found a solution to skip the VAT for export into USA/Non-EU countries. What does that mean for our customers? From now on all invoices to USA / Non-EU countries will no longer include the 19% VAT. In our shop system you will recognize this after you have logged into your personal account, provided that you have a delivery address in USA / Non-EU. Since first quarter of 2008 is already booked, customers can directly contact the German custom authorities for any refund. (Unfortunately we ourselves have no chance to get the money back for first booked quarter). For invoices from second quarter, please contact us via e-mail until June, 13th latest for refund of payed VAT. We hope this is a solution for all benefit. If you have questions, please contact us via e-mail: info ( A T ) geocoinshop.de with your invoice number and the date of purchase. Best regards, Your Geocoinshop.de
  2. You are in principal correct. The question in doubt is, if invoice and bank transfer is accepted as "the export document" which proves that the goods have left the EU. We thought and even think 'No', but we will find out. Surfing through all the tax forums did not make it clearer until now. We have to contact our lawyer. Regards Your Geocoinshop If 12.67 Euro (quoted above several times) (Approx. $19 USD) to ship a handful of coins doesn't cover registered and insured mailing, that's highway robbery. Whatever documentation you get for $20 shipping should be enough to cover proof the coins left the EU. TMA Thats not highway robbery, that is the unfortunately expensive German Postal (>500g = 12 € only for stamps without any documentation etc.):

  4. First off - I thank you for taking the time to respond to this thread. I really appreciate it. To me, it makes no difference where the money goes. If I am not obliged by law to pay it, I don't want to pay it period. I understand you don't wish to be seen as money-hungry and so you are clarifying where the money goes. I think those of us in the US (and probably everywhere with any kind of tax system) understand that. I hope you will indeed check with your accountant and/or legal advisor to clarify the need for this charge to overseas customers. I will be very anxious to get clarification on this matter as well. I would love to do business with your company and once the issue has been resolved to our mutual satisfaction, I will consider making my purchases with you. Thanks again for your post. Thanks for your constructive reply ! We will exactly do what you are saying, namely check with our legal advisor. Be sure, we are also fighting for the VAT free solution, cause it would make the geocoins more attractive. Hopefully the fast reaction of other sellers is legally correct and has not be skipped. Our understanding until today namely was, that you can only skip VAT outside the EU, when you can offer an official export document, which is not the order, nor the invoice, nor any bank transaction. Let's see what we will find out. We keep you informed. Your Geocoinshop
  5. Please let us the Geocoinshop try to make things clear. In 2007 we were not bound to pay VAT to our state, therefor our invoices did not include VAT and you didn't have to pay either. In 2008 now we are bounded to pay VAT (the same as all the other shops) to our country. (to make it clear: the VAT is not going into our pocket, but has to be paid to the country.) Until now, our laywer told us, that we have no chance to get rid of it. Therefor our customers (even outside the EU) have to pay and we have to forward to our country. Nevertheless we see and wonder that some shops skipped their VAT. Presently we think they are acting not correct. We are going to check, if their is a chance to skip the VAT. If yes you can be sure to get a refund for 2008.
  6. The Polished Silver version is Sold Out yet!!!
  7. So he makes you pay for the few coins you get even if at cost and he pockets about $1300 off the sale of your coin. I thought he was at least giving you a few coins. At least with the geocoin store you are GIVEN 100 coins with no out of pocket cost. (This is from their page) Team Sand Dollar Hello, before shouting you should: 1. read carefully what the geocoinstore.com offers: ...30 coins for unlimited production rights 2. what they require: ....artwork must be relatively finished 3. recognice: ...we a not obliged to accept it for production... Of corse this is a fair offer and we don't want to say it's better or worse compared to others. But what geocoinshop.de offered to Bat-Bubba and princeshoku was just different: We did not receive a design, we received only a concept. We made the design, went force and back with proposals through several stages trying to meet their wishes. There is no limitation in this process. We will never stop, until our customer is happy with our design. In addition to that, both had the chance to buy the complete series of coins for a competitive price. Our philosophy is, to offer interested people their personal coin including doing the design for them for a relatively low price. Thus we really do not know why you are set up. We hope this helps to clarify things. Best regards Geocoinshop.de
