  1. palmOne Tungsten E2 in a hard case with GPX Spinner, Plucker and GSAK with a Magellan Meridan.
  2. I created a pq and just as I hit enter I realized the parameters weren't set the way I wanted them. I then created another pq with what I had intended the first time. Now I have two listed and I would like to get rid of the first one, however I can't find any reference to how to do that.
  3. Well, now you've done it. If the political correct kooks read this thread they'll want to pass a law that no more in the majority can take up the game until all of the minorities catch up. For those disadvantaged that can't afford a GPS, a tax will be added for each one sold so they can be given to welfare recipients, who will then get all the FTF awards because they will be out caching while the rest of us are working. Then Algore will pull out some more pseudo-science because everyone is burning all that fossil fuel looking for geocaches and poking holes in the ozone layer. Eventually there will have to be separate web sites for Irish Americans, Italian Americans, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, English Americans, French Americans, Indian Americans, not to mention Christian Americans, Jewish Americans, Muslem Americans, Hindu Americans, etc. etc. etc. Time's up, I'm sitting down now.
  4. Hmmm... Perhaps I missed it, but I looked all through the web page and these postings and nowhere could I find the location for this evert. From the Hotel listings I assume it's in Michigan somewhere.
  5. One of the best sources of information on paperless caching that I have found is at Geocaching U at this location He explains how to upload pocket queries to your Palm PDA using GPX Spinner and Plucker. I found that you can also upload individual cache pages (gpx format) using the same programs and procedures. If you wanted to load some Geocaching pages into your PDA before getting your pocket query request back by email, this would be a good way to do it.
  6. My other hobby is riding and touring on my Honda Gold Wing.
  7. I think Waymarking will be a fun companion to Geocaching and am looking forward to when there will be catagories for most locations. It does seem to me however, that the rules and regulations for starting a catagory must have been written by a congressional committee or maybe the IRS. I may be missing something but with all due respect, and recognizing the work and time expended, it looks like a rather simple proposition has been made quite complicated.
  8. I copy the pertinent infomation from the geochaching.com page of the cache I'll be looking for into WordPerfect and save it. Then I take that page with me. I usually take 2 to 4 pictures at the cache site. When I get home I paste those pictures into my saved Wordperfect page along with the date found, what I took or left, etc. I've numbered them beginning with 001. This give me the description plus photos of each one. This seemed like a good idea to begin with, however, as I add more and more I can see that it will take up a lot of disk space, and ink if I ever print them out. I've also created a data base, "Found" in GSAK and add each one to it using the same numbering system and just saving the photos in a separate directory as 001CacheName.jpg. I will probably end up using the latter and stop going to all the work the former takes, other than the initial printout of the info I need for the hunt.
  9. Miswrote and can't figure out how to delete edit. Disregard.
  10. What do you put in the 'pitchers' you draw?
  11. This is one of my favorite caches, simply because of the cleverness and effort it took to prepare and place. This is a micro worth while.
  12. I am just glad there are folks who will take the time and energy to serve as reviewers. As far as cheating goes, in the final analysis anyone who cheats has to live with the fact that they lack a certain amount of integrity. My thanks to all those who review and approve caches so I can enjoy finding them.
  13. 2. You only get 200 page views per day from the network KML described above. Also, the coordinates are intentionally made "fuzzy" by 100 feet or so. To get unlimited views and accurate coordinates, open a GPX file in Google Earth. (File ==> Open ==> then navigate to your GPX file after selecting "GPS" from the file type options). I also like this the best because I can customize which caches I view by filtering the GPX file. My favorite use of Google Earth thus far was opening my "All Finds" file and seeing every cache I've ever found: I must be missing something somewhere. I have done as listed in 2. I can see the caches in my area but I cannot find the GPX file in Google Earth. What am I doing wrong.
  14. Are there any readers in the Great Bend, Kansas area that would be interested in starting a GPS/GeoCaching Club?
  15. When I was trying to decide which one to buy I did my research on the internet. You can find the specs on each one in your price range. I found in comparing features it would be a compromise of what fit my needs the most. Before you buy also check prices at the various internet stores. I bought a Magellan Meredian Color Pack from FactoryOutletStore.com and saved over $200.00 compared to local retail prices. That included the free shipping and not having to pay sales tax.
  16. I have just recently gotten into geocaching and was wondering if there were any clubs in the Great Bend, Kansas area. If there are or if anyone in this area is interested in starting one, contact wdh7@email.com
