  1. Did he sign it and log it as found ? 365 $ for a cache is not the most expensive Some of us do, so no big deal. But i would just bring one of my geo-sticks And sign it without climbing that tree, Or get a permit to climb it, if that is easy to get.. But it must be mentioned on the cache page.
  2. how do www.cacherstats.com, figure out someone is # 34,838 in the world. I guess the info is actually avail some how ? it could be very interesing to know how many: Total users signed in = 5 mill Newer found one = ?? Just tried it = ?? found 1-10 liked it = ?? found 10-100 adicted = ?? found 100-1000 crasy about it = ?? found 1000-over Activity, how many users: found at least one, last 365 days = found at least one, last 30 days = found at least one, last 2 days =
  3. me and my wife on a way to a cache, in scuba gear :-) surface team in little boat with GPS to keep position fixed, me in the red dry suit yes we found it. Night and water and tree climb combined
  4. I just say the guideline actually ask you as a CO to check and delete logs you belive to be spoofs.. I also dont check log dates, since the guideline dont require a log to contain a date or the correct date for that matter, it does how ever require a NAME, is that name there, I am happy.. is it NOT there, and I can see all numbered pages are still there they might just have forgot to write in the log, no matter what I can rightfully delete their log.
  5. I be happy not to bother the CO with all the edits I make all the time, I as a CO will for sure not want to receive mails every time people edit the logs they make, they system add a nice little edit note with date and time, if i feel it is important to see if they changed something I can always look there.
  6. idea: hide a container at stage 1 put a LAMINATED paper there with this text : IF YOU FOUND THIS CONTAINER; YOU DID NOT READ THE CACHE PAGE AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A MULTI IS, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL CACHE, THIS IS NOT THE LOG BOOK YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
  7. >My credit rating did not improve when I hosted a CITO. YES it did.. you hidden number did go 1+ did it not ?
  8. exactly redsox that is what I ment :-) To Cezanne I think we must just learn to accept the competive part of it is what make the kicks for many/some people
  9. wow again, another even cooler picture from that rock or mountain is what I call it :-) we really like the oh-scarry effect of height and such, and offcourse a cool view.. People keep posting amazing pictures, and how about add a GC number so we spend less time asking about what and where, and spend more time just to enjoy the pictures :-)
  10. >I am not seeing how their lie makes it less fun for you? >This is only true if you are playing a game against someone else. I answer both of you at the same time since this is related.. this game is hardly a one man game, might be for 1 out of 1000 but in general it is not, there are ways to hide your stats details, but not your total find or score if you want to call it that, then there are ways to simply not log anything online, do it in a pocket book or your own offline computer, THEN you can play your own game, offcourse you also must not read anything about what others do or dont and you must stay away from any kinds of challenge cache types, and you must stop to compare anything you have done with anyone else.. in real life it is impossible to stop to compare.. We are designed as compeditive persons, it is actually a good thing then people try harder and improve their skils, this is why we stopped beeing monkeys.. Back to this game.. We all play by the SAME rules, ok here they are called guidelines, fine, but still it is possible in the long run to ruin the game, if too many people cheat and lie. if you play this game, you also call your self a geocacher all others also call them self geocachers, so this means we are all called the same, if more and more people are alloved to cast a bad light on geocaching due to dishonost lying behaviour, it will also fall back to the honost players. I prefer to be able to call my self a geocacher with a proud feeling, we belong to a honost group of non lyers
  11. >All over a silly challenge cache. That's fun? a lie is a lie, and a person who do this is a liar, he did it, not the person who reveal it, ALL types of games are much more fun for all parts, if all play fair and all play the same game after the same rules or guidelines.
  12. PLEASE log whet ever you do, and what ever you feel is fun or usefull to remember for your self or others, this apply to finds and DNF and all other sorts of stuff too...
  13. if there are no rules or regulations or people who check and complain - then too many will cheat, and in the end ruin the game for all fair players, so if you feel very sure someone cheat, ask, check, complain, and even delete logs.. this way you are a little minor part of the ones who help keep this game more true and fair and in the end more fun..
  14. a CO is expected to check for and delete logs he belives are made intentionally wrong, read the guideline, and perform your work as requested.
  15. if someone ask me for help or a hint or a full reveal I give them exactly what they want, I make caches to make people happy, their way I expect only me to play the game my way.. but yes, I will be a little bit more happy if people used the system the way I expect it was designed like to log a DNF if they went to GZ, searched and found nothing, it is not that hard to do, some log nothing, some log all they can, some too little, some too much.. not my problem. but it helps me a bit, if people did it right.
  16. to 4wheelin_fool !!! WOW what a picture !! the first one, you standing up on that clif top :-) to GEOvloger you got to use that one on the first page !!!
  17. I had the idea my slumb was big.. you beat me :-)
  18. tree climb the muddy hole another nasty hole. a really big one with the kids. we got like 700 pictures in our gallery, have a look :-) you can use anything you like, we also got pictures of the kids when they where really tiny caching
  19. Omalos, Crete, Greece a cave Earthcache Crete Greece. Marble at the opera earthcache Oslo Norway
  20. > If a condition, not mentioned in the cache discription, > exists that prevents me from reaching GZ, I will leave a NOTE. BINGO !! I think you should post two DNF logs, if you go to GZ two times and actually search, and find nothing, this way you tell the whole story more true to what you actually did there. surely when is a search worth to mention ? 1 sec or 1 min or 1 hr, that is offcourse up to you.
  21. some new and cool puzzles attract people from far away, we see NOTES posted like : FIRST TO SOLVE, thanks for the fun.. but NEWER EVER A found it log.. for that peole MUST sign the physical log book in the cache. a CO is expected to check and delete spoof logs, see the guidelines
  22. if you can't safely hide an Ammobox (or other good quality container), the location you picked is WRONG. wow jasta, Plano brand tackle boxes that one looks like good quality, how much are they ? and where do you get them ? one thing that always come to my mind is this: all outdoor containers made for proffecional electronics and such are NOT made 100% water tight, since that just dont exist, water will ALWAYS find a way to get in.. (some even geocache when it rains) they designed a moisture vent into the container, so it can get out !! look up GORE membrane vent http://www.gore.com/en_xx/products/venting/protective/protective_vents_telecommunications.html more here: http://www.gore.com/en_xx/products/venting/protective/protective_vents_telecom_why_vent.html?isAjax=true the screw in vents can easily be mouinted in many geocaching containers: http://www.gore.com/MungoBlobs/837/325/GORE_PTV_ScrewIn_Vents_en.pdf the much simpler adhesive vents can be used on smaller things, just drill a little hole and then stick it on http://www.gore.com/MungoBlobs/946/999/GORE_PTV_Adhesive_Vents_QA_en.pdf
  23. if all you do is fun ? what is the the problem ? call it what you like.. you choose to run out and seek that FTF it must be you think it is fun, think about it : if there is no risk to get STF or worse. there whould also be no joy when you get FTF. no fun to play and win, if the only one in the area playing is YOU.
  24. if the one logging a wierd DNF log, clearly state what he did or not did, I can use the information and maybe learn a thing or two about the area, cache, hide what to bring or what to expect, if I want to try it, and maybe care a bit more to find it.. I prefer if people use: DNF if they got to GZ and started to search, explain usefull details. NOTE if not possible to get near GZ, state why, explain details, if ran out of gas 10km before, no need to post useless info. NM if they found the cache and feel it needs service they can not handle them self, explain what CO (or others) needs to bring. NA if they found the cache, and it is directly against the guidelines in such a way you are sure it will cast bad light to the hobby or cause other problems, explain details. FOUND IT, if they found the cache and signed its log book or log sheet
  25. geocaching dont need to specially dangerous or hardcore before it is fun.. offcourse the more hard stuff it is more safe and also more fun to do together with others, you pick your own challenge, and accept the risk in all you do.
