  1. your NA log should explain clearly the was taken away by you, due to a demand from land owner. it is CO's job to repport logs he belive is bogus, he can also delete bogus logs, people should plain fair = more fun for all, but you are in your right to email the CO and telling him you know for sure that log is a bogus log, if there is not a little bit check and controll and possibly log delete, too many will lie and cheat and this way ruin the game for us all in the long run. another thing : if you ever get into confrontations with a mugler who is not happy, ALWAYS smile, be friendly, and just say yes to all they want and all they say, this way they end up not having any reason to be angry and the conversation ends very easy and fast, and you can cary on happy too.
  2. What Irks you most? when a hint is intentinally phrased so it is misunderstood as anything else but the right location..
  3. sometimes a NA is fair, sometimes a NA log is phrased rude, sometimes it drives people nuts when some play cache-police and NA all stuff they just dont like, Think abit.. think more.. wait.. and then act..
  4. some design caches to be mainstream, like the usual stuff, quite easy to get to, and quite easy to find and log. and such caches will also get alot of finds.. a very few caches are specially designed to be .. VERY special.. they could be located at extreamly remote locations, and YES at those locations something very rare and unique could be of big interest to the one geocacher who would love to see if it is there.. A cache hidden at such places are very unlikely to get lost, since stuff dont get lost by it self.. people make stuff get lost.. a few times a year some friends and I, we seek such lonely caches other peopel have given up finding them, some of them are even disabled or archived, but we go there and start to search.. a few times we actually manage to find the thing :-) and it is VERY funny and cool when that happens. LEAVE old caches online.. they dont harm anyone, they dont take up any space and they dont cost anything..
  5. welcome to this site, as you can see topics often change direction fast. and often only precented from one persons view. Removing a cache from its hide, results in more people spend more time looking for it, and also they look in a much wide area if they can not find it.. it is MUCH better to ask a geocacher, if he will be so kind to DISABLE the cache online, and then a week later you can remove the container. People fill up their GPS units with the info, and they are not online every day, turists spend several weeks in new contries with just the info they got inside the GPS, so if they dont know latest updates, they still come look for it, so please just tell them it is disabled, and they go again. We offcourse dont play this game to harrass anyone, no matter if the guardrail is puplic or not is not the question, as long as a person near by is not happy about it, and inform any of the seekers about it, they will disable it, and kindly inform you what they can do to help you. most people actually like geocachers to show up near their house, they scare away thiffs and rats, and repport if any kinds of wrong or bad things is going on, like call the firedepartment incase it is needed.. so it could be a very good thing to have a cache just outside your house, as long as its position is correct, and it got a good usefull hint, so people can find it.. one last thing : the : "you should watch yourself" is not the most smart thing to say to anyone, as it can be misunderstood.
  6. when you get caught up in a hot situation, it turns out it helps you, if you just keep smiling and look friendly and answer politely in a friendly tone, just say yes to what ever it is, and move on, dont start to play wise to explain complex stuff, such people allready got their two brain cells overloaded and can hardly pack more info in there.
  7. wow first time I hear someone actually got their own private guard rail he must be very happy about it. It is really not funny to have a lunatic following you, I hope the kids are ok ? and feel safe and all that ? spend plenty of time explaining them, there are a few sick people out there, but luckyly most other people are nice and friendly and it is really fine and safe to be out geocaching.
  8. >Is there any way to see them all on a geocaching map before they are published?? NO.. use the transfer to GPS feature, import the GPX files into GSAK use a clean database is the most easy way, then use the google earth macro, to show them all on a map. There is also a google earth and 161 meter ring macro, this is very usefull to show you new caches together with ALL caches in the area, select both found and unfound, then make PQ file, and import it into same database this way you save the reviewer and your self alot of double work. offcourse the multies and puzzles must be solved in the area to be really sure the locations are free.
  9. before first time I came to USA, I never seen lamppost skirts before :-) now I know all about them.. geocaching is a great source of education and wisdom.
  10. why make a cache that is only fun for 3 people in the state ? what is the point ?
  11. >What's the best you got? The honor and glory from two friends also running for the same cache. To be accepted as a fairplayer and honest winner, is worth more than gold and money to me.
  12. you can not physically be at two different locations at the same time.. I define different locations to be 161 m or more apart. This means I do accept group log, like they write ABC in the log sheet and online say ABC = Alfa Brave Charley, found it, was here in the same car, at the same time, TFTC it is PERFECTLY normal: not to have all persons in the group to touch the container and write in the logbook. and it is also normal (for more special caches), to let the container and book be touched and signed by each person for real, while the group talk abit and just enjoy the cool place and things they did to get there. it is BAD style to run two parallel groups, with the SAME group name, and seek different parts on the trail or town for that matter, I dont see any difference with this and hiring someone to find and sign caches with your name, you did not find the cache.. you did not sign it your self.. this kind of game should be banned, and all such logs DELETED !! if you know for sure this is what they did, delete every sec log they did that day, and let them complain to Groundspeak How do you prove for sure what they did ? did they say this in their logs ? or other place online ? did you hide out there and took a video ?
  13. >for archiving the largest number of caches in a single day. I think each CO can easyly do that.. funny how people think their way is the best way :-) Clearly it is possible to pump up your number fast and easy, and so what, if some do that ? many other games is also possible, use your imagination and come up with new ways to take advantage of fast and easy caches, make the game your game.. or play a game you like more, plenty of room for all kinds of games, and all kinds of fun. you can also create caches the way you like them, and this way spread the word about your own ideas.. please do
  14. any CO say ok, to check cache logs, and is expected to check for, and delete logs he belive are bogus See CO rules..
  15. Hi clan, you just reveal you did not read or understand anything about this project, I will be happy to explain any serious questions phrased as such.. >in uninspired locations, have you been there ? caches are located along a route called: http://www.naturstyrelsen.dk/Naturoplevelser/Beskrivelser/Margueritruten/ sorry the text is in danish, I suggest you use a translator here is a short snip I translated.. Welcome to Marguerite! Sit back and enjoy the ride ... What is Marguerite? Marguerite is an automobile route that shows you the way through the most beautiful places in Denmark. Here you will find a gateway into the digital map, where you can find the route and the cultural and natural sights around the country is located near Marguerite ------------------------ >with copy/paste cache pages, intentionally done this way, since there is a technical limit of how large files can be in your GPS and still work fast and smooth, and we dont really expected people to read the cache pages ------------------------- >and a poorly developed maintenance plan, the caches are made of 26 CO's they live alog their part of the rute, and they are specially selected as active CO's who actually care. ------------------ >All that litter in such a nice country- shame on you when the project is done, all containers will be removed and collected. Dont know where you are from, or just started geocaching ? or even just started looking a bit out the door ? anywhere you go you find liter, and for every cache you can find, you find 1000 of kg liter, caches are taken care of, people play with them, sounds like you have a problem with geocaching in general. Geocachers actually COLLECT liter, try to goto a CITO, you see geocachers actually every year remove liter other people throw in the nature, this way we as geocachers feel proud and fine about leaving a few geocaches in the nature, we know where they are located, and we care about them. ------------------ >And the geo-trail damage and carbon emissions- what an unthoughtful environmental crime People who geocache, will do it anyway, more caches dont make more geocachers, and dont fool them to drive more or less, they might go this way one day, so far they had 26000 other caches all over the contry to play with. People who drive to and from work every day, drive millions more km every day, so no matter how you try to put this, the extra CO2 is not going to be measurable not even in teory.
  16. sorry, no filmcans, just plastic petlings with screw lit, they handle to be walked on, and are very water tight and rugged, got them all for free via a sponsor.
  17. what part of this, did you not understand ? this thread is NOT a discussion about likes or dislikes, plenty of threads for that, please go there.. People with an imagination have allready found several new funny games they can use this PT for, no need to talk bad about caches you dont like or not understand.. just dont seek them, then and please spend your time creating caches you like, and spread the word about what kind of cool things you can do..
  18. >Does that mean the lame American ways of doing a powertrail such as leapfrogging and container swapping is not acceptable ? leapfrogging and container swapping is not acceptable !! thanks, I add it..
  19. >I feel sorry for those who have notifications for Denmark caches sent to their phone. YES, we did offcourse warn all people about this, so they could turn off notifications for the time of the day for the release. we also made bookmark lists, so people can get them, or find a nice easy way to put them on their ignore list, it is perfectly fine if some people dont like, or understand, or find fun in caches like this. this thread is NOT a discussion about likes or dislikes, plenty of threads for that, please go there..
  20. >2000, the rumor on the street is another 500 is coming you talk about ET.. and I talk about world record of mass release in ONE day.. if you keep add caches, sure the ET will be the biggest PT however not the one with most caches released in ONE day :-) until you release another 2174 or more the same day :-)
  21. Such things is why we made the 0000 info page.. so there is ONE place to find all important info, we can offcourse not update so many cache pages, and we also wanted to use as little as possible bytes on each of them since each byte is 2kb in the total file on your GPS.. and a large file on the GPS = slow and buggy GPS
  22. >Will they be maintained? YES !! at least that is the plan, they are made by 26 different CO's along the rute, each live close to their part of the rute AND each CO is carefully selected after their stats, low NM and quich maintanence, and also we have defined a stop date.. so this project will not be a newer ending story..
  23. ET highway was not released same day ?!?! right ?? our trail is 909 kilometers = 565 miles at least, I dont really know the real distance, since there are a few places you can swap abit arround also the release party quickly turned into a MEGA event : http://coord.info/GC481VX see the pictures if you cant read the logs.. many other caches was also released, so far all people was entertained plenty the entire day, I was out from 800 to 2200 I still feel really tired
  24. still no one able to tell if this is a world record ?
  25. We have been working together closely with the reviewers, about how to make their work as easy as possible, we even created a pc program to make GC link lists, from our GPS files, so they be more happy, and we make less errors from creating them manually. Anyone know how many caches ever released at one time ??
