The problem with navigation in Chrome appears to be caused by the GeoPrinter Chrome extension. A post from the developer earlier today indicated that this problem was due to changes in Chrome and had been fixed in the latest release of GeoPrinter, 2.45. I was having this problem (running Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87, the latest stable release), unchecked my addons, and then re-enabled them one at a time. Doing this isolated GeoPrinter as the likely culprit. Visiting GeoPrinter's support page, and using Google Translate (Czech to English) provided the answer. I removed by existing version of GeoPrinter (2.40) and added the new version from the Chrome Web Store. Navigation seems to work fine now.

Enabling the 'For list:' dropdown on the Edit Bookmark page to allow changing the current list to any of the other existing lists would greatly simplify the process of moving bookmarks from one list to another.
