Please help us welcome Elin to the Bay Area (GCJHHV)
Just an informal get together to greet "EMC of Northridge, CA" who will be mega-caching the bay area this weekend. (Elin is one of the pre-eminent SoCal cachers.) This way we can slow her down and get her off the streets (don't draw any implications) at least for a few hours.

There is a new trail coming to Pleasanton this fall.
In today's paper there was an article that a new 3.5 mile hiking trail will open in the fall around the new Callippe Preserve Golf Course in the south part of Pleasanton. About 1 mile is already done and it will be 40-60 inches wide and will be natural surface (dirt- no crushed stone or asphalt. The golf course is located near Happy Valley Road and Alisal Rds (I can't find a map for it)
Look forward to finding caches there this fall!
A wonderful opportunity. Since you are local, please place 34 new caches (1/10 mile apart). Leave the two ends for Marky to place secret trailhead caches. Thanks

This is a new subject, what happened to the geocaches in Alum Rock Park? I'll probably go hiking there this weekend & was doing my usual cache check and it came up completely empty.
Don't let me spoil the fun and please keep it a secret, a new one was placed there just today..........................

........... My vote for the best cache of 2004 is the CCGC CITO Picnic. Hats off to CBN and his amazingly patient family (for putting up with us). Great activities (fun to hear the stories), great food, and great companionship...............
Agreed!! We alre all indebted to CBN for his fantastic effort.
It was great meeting everyone (a few for the second time) and trading embellishments.

Sorry to put a damper on this discussion, but .......
Honestly, the Fifield-Cahill Ridge hike was a disappointment. You are restricted to the dirt road, rarely is there a view of anything and the chaparones are with you at all times. There are much nicer hikes in more available parks throughout the Bay Area.

Walruz, TeamSpaz and I had quite an adventure yesterday, just check out our logs on the former Secret Sidewalk cache (GCHXNG). Thanks to Joe, we escaped with our lives, he sacrificed himself by sharing a Bud with the "owners".

Can someone please take the lead in contacting EBRPD? I will be away for 2 weeks, but I'll be glad to assist in anyway that I can.4wheeler also posted an informative item on this topic including the appropriate contact person: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=65207
We need to impress upon them that as a whole, we are careful with protecting the environment, trash out, pay our taxes and annual membership fees, etc. Perhaps we could assist by providing them with some contact names incase there is difficulties with any given caches, offer an approval process, etc. Could a petition help?
I want my $30 back! How many of us have mave made the payment for this year?

I have lived in N.Cal. all my life and have never visited Mt. Diablo.
I would like to take a drive there this spring to see the sights and find a few caches.
Would someone please share a way point that would make a good center to start planning my search? Is there a cache at the top? Can we drive to the top?

Yes, you can drive all the way to the top: N37 52.893 W121 54.824. No caches up there, but a real novel benchmark, some fantastic views and a small museum. In general, the the terrain ratings for the caches on the mountain are strenuous or even more strenuous. Contact me directly and I'll help you plan it.

In the "old" days (a few months ago), there was a site that tallied stats based on location, so it was easy to identify local cachers based on finds in your local city. I wish that Geocaching.com would reinstate stats and this great by-product feature.

This has probably been discussed before, but it is getting to be a real pain to scroll down through all the found TBs on my cache page. Can't this feature be modified to work similarly to cache posts. Just show the last 10 bugs found or the last 10 days.

Many of us would like to visit the hotel, but the hours are extrememly restricted. PErhaps you could consider moving it to a location that can be accessed after 6PM.

My Travel Bug motel is FULL, 7 bugs in there. And it is on a Major highway junction.
The only solution is to make a concerted effort to move the bugs and keep them flowing.
(I even have moved bugs to another TB Motel 8 miles away, just to move them, even though I have "found" that cache many times, it is handy to just move them.)

Hey - I need some help with a find (GC52AE Shipwreck - user Tangles)
I specifically went back to a specific location in Florida (drove many miles out of my way to get there) to get a picture with my GPS this time - now the cache owner, claims he doesn't like my picture since my GPS is a small item on a large gun and he keeps deleting my logs even though I have complied with all his rules. He won't even reply to an email.
"All I see is a YELLOW THING. .............How much trouble would it have been to do a close up of the GPS on the Canon? It's our CACHE and OUR RULES. Resubmit with an identifiable GPS for a find."
I am now 3000 miles away - that yellow thing is a Garmin Geko 201 - very identifiable (nothing else looks like it). I have fully complied with his rules, it is an original picture, my GPS is in it, I even provided him with a close up of the plaque describing the wreck. It is a legitimate find and my posts should not have been deleted.
What can I do? What recourse do I have?

THE HUNT IS ON. Carrying topographical maps, a Thomas Guide and electronic equipment, a trio of treasure seekers scampers up a dun-colored hill. They zero in on a gnarled oak tree, peer carefully about, then reach deep into a hole in the trunk. A grin spreads across Lee van der Bokke's face as he catches hold of a rope inside the hollow trunk, and gently tugs at the Doritos 3-D can dangling inside.

The summer is rapidly coming to an end and it is a great time to get together before the fall responsibilies creep up on us. The first East Bay Geocachers Pizza event will be at The Pizza Machine in Danville. As this is our first event, it will be a great opportunity to meet many of the cachers in our area and beyond. Please post how many people will be coming.

"EMC of Northridge, CA found at 5/28/2004: Came up for a long weekend of speed caching in the South Bay and, despite an interruption of plans while I dashed back to LA for a last-minute job, I managed to put in 64 hours of caching over 4.3 days, and ultimately returned with 278 finds!! I found 80 today, and was joined by bthomas, who still had quite a few left on his list in the San Jose area."
Even with the event in her honor on Sunday, we weren't able to slow her down at all.
She's now found more than 300 in the Bay Area. Should she be added to the leader board?
