  1. Great information! A decent GPS and a refined query should fix me up! Thanks very much to all!
  2. Many times we decide at the last minute to take off for a day or weekend, and run a pocket query to download the caches in the area. Very frustrating are those caches marked as "Regular" when they are truly Multi-caches.... those that say in the description, "cache is not at posted coords" ... Or they have a puzzle to complete to get the true coords of the hidden cache. It would be very nice if they were either 1) edited by the geo-gods to be a "multi" ( and while we're talking about it, what is an "unknown" cache, and why is that allowed?); or if there were a type of cache listed as "puzzle", so that we could eliminate those from the query. OR! Is there a GPS that downloads the cache description so that we don't spend a half hour looking for a cache that turns out "is not at the posted coords", or has a puzzle to complete to give the true waypoints, but the only way to know that is to have read the cache description? Not to discount these caches at all... we do love puzzle caches, and many have very interesting information about the area in which the cache is placed. Just looking for a way to download a bunch of caches on the fly where there isn't time to read all the descriptions before loading in the GPS and heading out the door. Ok, so while we're talking, I've seen caches that have been neglected by the owners even though several DNF's have been logged, but again, the Pocket Query doesn't show that. So maybe we need a GPS that shows the description and a couple of the latest logs. We'd be willing to invest in that, if anyone has any suggestions. :-)
  3. What does it mean to "bump" a request? Bahb
  4. Sorry, it's my fault. I own the TB in question and when it hadn't moved in a year, though other TBs came and went, I thought it must be missing so marked its location "Unknown". Now I've posted a note on it that it is in cache GC160JH, but I'm not sure that fixes the situation. Bahb
  5. There's supposed to be an 8-digit serial # on the back of the GPS that we need to provide to get the $50 rebate, but there is no 8 digit number anywhere. Does YOUR 60CSx have a serial number? Thanks, Bahb
  6. D'OH ! I had clicked on the State but not the Date. Thanks a bunch. I get the Weekly listing but had deleted it and the cachers in this area don't meet in these forums, so I was about out of luck. Thanks again, Bahb
  7. If you wanted to find the cache listing for an event that is happening this saturday and you don't know anything more than what city it will be happening in, where would you look? Thanks, Bahb
  8. With a dial-up connection and Yahoo maps, might as well count players in remote areas like ours out. There's no detail in Yahoo maps. And the slow server is now the mega-slow server, so planning a day of caching takes longer than most people have for play, even when they're retired. Even though the old maps had some flaws, at least it was easy to figure out where one might look on a hard-copy map to pin-point the route that would be logical. With yahoo maps, we can't even tell what city or county to look in. You also count out all dial-up players who once were able to see the Gallery now and then. It was slow, but do-able. Some day broadband will be available in our area. Right now it's not! Boy do I hate that word "upgrade"!!!!!!
  9. Make that another "yes". We're hadicapped and need to ignore terrain rated > 2. We also would like to ignore all micros but be able to sort for certain ones later. But before there are ANY new features, I'd sure like to see more servers so it doesn't take forever to plan our caching day and/or log one. Thanks
  10. Very cool! Thanks for your help! Geo caching won't be so frustrating next time!
  11. First time cachers, full of frustration. We wandered a cemetary for an hour and every time we thought we were getting close, the other coordinate was way off. Is there a secret? And is there a way to enter the cache coordinates in this GPS? thanks!
