  1. Just yesterday I found my first benchmark in Puerto Rico near a cache and when I went to log it on the benchmark website, couldn't find it here anymore. Where did it go? I use it frequently by way of nearest to caches and now it only shows it as a waymark!
  2. Are there any plans for any new locations for the GPS ADventure Exhibits for this year?
  3. Don't forget that when you add a waypoint for a lab cache that coordinates have to be entered as well. Just found that out.
  4. Yep same here, also for some reason I can not 'edit' any of my trackables, like can do the edit but when hit the submit button it just freezes (IE). I just had issues with creating a new cache page with the website not recognizing my cache size. When I put this issue out on FB, a friend suggested that with IE 11 there could be a compatibility issue and suggested I try this: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwindows.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Finternet-explorer%2Fuse-compatibility-view%23ie%3Die-11&h=-AQGoxrY6 By golly, it worked! You might want to try it as well.
  5. Frankly, I am very disappointed that I don't receive the newsletters anymore except for one a couple of weeks ago. I used to look forward to seeing upcoming events along the east coast, because it would give us a reason to make plans to visit an area. Now if I plan a trip, the only way I find out about an event is to ask a local if they know of any upcoming events in their area. But, I liked the idea of the list showing them. A huge disappointment for me and I know a number of others. I really don't care about the newest listings since you can get them with a query. But to me events are important as a way of meeting new people.
  6. Although I do like the zombie theme idea!

  8. I'm definitely interested, but not sure how many would be able to attend, since it is a weekday. Add to that finding caches later in the day/early evening might not be as attractive to others. Just sayin'
  9. I'm still having this problem no matter which browser I use. Was it fixed earlier, because I don't see any notifications about the site going down for an update.
  10. I too am very disappointed in the new format. I love to travel to events all over and used the weekly newsletter to investigate possible events to go to. As far as I am concerned, the newsletter in its present format is completely useless to me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  11. I just recenty found out about this and am frankly saddened to hear that some cachers with large numbers of finds in their stats practice this. I skews the rankings in their favor! I've put this out there on FB and the consensus is that they are against the practice.
  12. Wow!!! I had no idea of the importance of this coin! And I am truly thankful to the creator and giftor of such a cool coin! Thanks so much!
  13. I received in my mail last week in and envelope addressed to me (although my last name was spelled wrong) and the return address was the same label. The head of the coin is about the size of a pathtag, It's got Mickey ears, black nickel with some white glitter on it and the jedi sword of the front. The back has the word JEDI on it as well as 2 crossed jedi swords. Does anyone know anything about this coin?
  14. This one was a fun one. One of my favs! Sam-I-Am GC1569M. I still chuckle everytime I think about it!
  15. Yeah, there certainly is a bunch of us here on Long Island. And, if you are so inclined to attend an event, Sakiman and I are hosting a GeoFriend's Thanksgiving event in Farmingdale on Thursday: GC1YQJY. Come on out to meet all of us!!!
  16. May put in my 2 cents worth? I own 2 Garmin 60CSxs as well as the Oregon 200. Comparing both units I still love my 60CSx. Even though in order to go paperless, I had to use a Palm Tungsten E2. My current palm was starting to fail after 2 years worth of use. So, I considered combining the paperless/cache pages feature from the Oregon and the capability for Wherigo caches, and thought the Oregon would be a good fit. Well I can assure you although I'm still learning to navigate the Oregon, it lacks certain features and ease of use that the 60CSx has. I still use the 60CSx for my everyday caching and use the Oregon in place of the palm for the cache pages. Other than that and if I didn't need the Oregon for the Wherigo caches, I'd leave it behind.
  17. I have to agree with all the postings here about NYAdmin. He/she has been extremely helpful to all of us Long Islanders. He's responded to most of my emails with explanations, insights and advice which is truly appreciated on my part and I can say for quite a few others. There are a select few who seem to have a problem or two. But, when all is said and done, NYAdmin is a volunteer, who gives their time, and quite a bit of it too, to give to the game that we all love and enjoy! Here Here! I agree, NYAdmin you rock!!!

  19. Hey thanks for all the congrats! I couldn't have done this without our illustrious team mates! Congrats Brian and Matt too! We had a great time and sorry to those who wanted to join us and couldn't!
  20. I won a Nielsenc 2005 Caching Around the World geocoin at a Flash Mob event back in February in Phoenix and it came in a plastic sleev without the information on the manufacturer. I have tried to find the access code for it and have been unsuccessful so far in retrieving the actoivation code. Doesn't anyone know who is the manufacturer of this coin? []
  21. I won a Caching around the World coin at an event in February and have been unsuccessful in retrieving an activation code. There was no card or label, so I'm not sure where I can find the code. I've tried several different companies and had no luck. The coin has a nickel finish and on one side it has a simple compass rose. On the other side is "nielsenc" "2005" , a globe, "CA WA UT" Japan China Singapore UK Switzerland" and "Caching around the World." Doesn anyone here have the same coin and can anyone help me find the activation code? Thanks!

  23. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on transferring a .gpx file (preferably thru GSAK)?? I've been able to transfer the raw .gpx file using Cut/Paste to the "external" drive when Nuvi is hooked up. The only problem there is that Nuvi only recognizes the waypoint #'s and I would like to use the smart names of the caches. If GSAK can be used, is there any setup that needs to be done?? Thanks for any and all help.
  24. I found a missing TB that hadn't been found since it was logged into a LIGO picnic event in 2004. I found it just last month. When I logged the pick-up, I promptly got an email from the owner thanking me for finding it and rescuing it! It was very exciting to say the least that I made some other cacher happy! I did log it into the cache I found it and then grabbed it back. Now I'll hopefully find another cache to place it where it won't disappear again into GC space!
