  1. Nope, that's what I did the first time and tried again. No Joy. Possible that he's registered with the wrong ##? Any way to research it? Clifford BRD I'm thinking the owner would like to see him logged...
  2. I have it sitting here, but it won't let me log it. Just refreshes the page. And I hiked 4 miles of mountains today just so I could see one! Emailed the bug owner, but I'm assuming since it's on the site it is in the system. Am I missing something here? Thanks
  3. Bryan, Nope, standard Ground. I'd of expected that if I'd have chosen 3Day. Possible that a certain combination of items in the cart will trigger something strange in the shipping? I don't know if I could remember the exact quantities of what to be able to duplicate it. I've seen worse errors on websites if that's all it was. :-) Regards, Roger
  4. Sledgehampster, You're using public published rates. Depending on how you've held up your account rep and how much you ship it could be 50% of the published rate that you actually pay. That $6.33 could easily be $3-$4. I actually just went to place an order full of trinket stuff for putting in caches, he total of the order was $32. It added $14 in shipping. The largest item was a logbook. Patches, pins, etc could just as easily be put in a padded envelope and shipped USPS. I don't want to hear whines about how multiple shipping calculation is too hard to do on a website, as I deal with it every day. Needless to say the order didn't happen because I'm NOT paying a nearly 50% surcharge for shipping. It did however make me remember this thread. Roger
  5. I got burned the same way. Thought that the City Select that came with my StreetPilot would work with my Vista. Looked at the replacement, and for me Roads and Recreation was the better choice. Metroguide however are more "accurate". R&R had more of the smaller streets in my area that Metroguide did not, however there's an accuracy skew of 30 feet or so. If I set a waypoint at my front door, City Select puts it on the map where it's supposed to be, but R&R puts it about 30' up the street. R&R has more of the small streets in rural areas, plus streams, etc so I felt it was the better choice. Hope that helps.
  6. >>He says that he uses PAM non-stick spray<< And if it doesn't work you can fry them for breakfast!
  7. I vote "No Find" but who am I to judge? :-) Sounds like a lost cache, but that doesn't make it a virtual. When did the owner last do maintenance?
  8. I'm slumming it in a 2002 F-250 Short bed Crew Cab Super Duty with a Powerstroke diesel. For the trips far from home it's pulling a 32' 2002 Sportsmen travel trailer that sleeps 10. Portable hotel :-)
  9. wyoduckhunter, Thanks for the response. That's about spot on, since the coordinates are my front porch, and I know my driveway is 60 feet to the street. Wow! Looks like the streets aren't on Metroguide and are on R&R based on all of your findings and Garmin's site, so I picked up R&R today. Loaded it up and it's exactly what I wanted. Thanks EVERYONE for all your help!! Roger
  10. Alan, Thanks. Home is N39 10.568 W78 06.950 which should be the intersection of Woodrow Road and Emily Lane.Based on Garmin's Map Viewer Utility it's in R&R but not in MetroGuide. It's in City navigator, but alas that won't load in my Vista. Developments all around here, few in the mapping it appears. 1400 houses behind me and not a street on the map. It's my understanding that the Metroguide maps are more accurate than the R&R ones, is that truly the case? Accuracy meaning position I'm assuming rather than concise completeness? Thanks for all the help!! Roger
  11. Got married to my first wife. Oh, you meant GPS related! If it's any consolation she's big enough these days to probably make a Topo map! :-)
  12. Alan, Seems like the Metroguide maps only have the larger streets in my area. All of the local subdivisions that have been here 10 years have no streets on the maps.. This based on the Map viewer on Garmins site, I'm assuming that it's correct. It's a TeleAtlas issue, as Pharos maps don't have them either, although NavTech do.
  13. Thanks for all the input guys. I bought the Vista, if it matters. Now to figure out which are the best maps to buy, since my StreetPilot III maps don't work with it. Garmin says Metroguide, but doesn't even have half my county in it!
  14. Looking for a nice handheld, and don't really need the GPS V as I have a StreetPilot III Deluxe and the 5 duplicates a lot of it. The Vista and 76S appear pretty much the same, with only minor (?) differences. Is one drastically better than the other? I see that the 76S has the Quad-Helix antenna and the Vista doesn't. Or is there a better handheld unit that would be better than both of these? I'd like to stay Garmin as my unlocks for the SPIII allow 2 units, but it's not imperative if there's a much better unit out there. Thanks in advance! Roger
