  1. Yes, the bug was dropped in the Geobash. Croc has not been on his email in so long, if you wrote to him, he never got it. I (his mom) apologize for that. The bash is next week, and it will move along soon!
  2. I hope virtuals stay a part of geocaching.com, also. I have so many on my watchlist from out west. I am looking forward to one day travelling there and finding them. So many of the virtuals are harder than finding a keyholder on a guardrail. As with any cache, if you don't like the kind that it is, just don't do it! I can deal with the locationless caches going over to waymarketing, even though I really enjoy them. But I hope the decision will be made to keep virtual caches a part of the game. Thanks
  3. When you have a travel bug go missing, you still own the travel bug number. Instead of leaving it in the travel bug graveyard, you can reincarnate it into a new bug. You can keep the same theme, or change the name and the kind of bug it is. Just use the copy, or as I am doing, make a new tag with the TB number on it. I had one bug travel 49 miles before a newbie took it and kept it, and another travel 10 miles before the TB hotel it was in got stolen! They are going to be started again soon with their new tags! This way you get your monies worth out of the the TB tag you bought!
  4. Be sure to hit the Ogle Cache GCD97A. It is right downtown and has had 300 visits. It's a must for a trip to Gatlinburg. If you are going to do caches in just one area, the Douglas Lake caches were very nice. We did a loop and came back to Gatlinburg the back way, and that was fun! GC258A Start at this one and go to nearby caches. There are a bunch. Hmmmm, there a lot more than when we were in Gatlinburg last year. Honey, I think it's time to go to Gatlinburg again...
  5. C. R. my geocaching 8 year old says: A travel bug would say " Please take me where I want to go. Don't take me in the opposite direction. Don't keep me for too long, and don't lose me!" If I were a travel bug I would want to visit Antarctica because I want to see a lot of penguins.
  6. I do agree that on a regular travel bug, there seems no point for faking the mileage. When he actually travels, then that mileage should be all that counts. Virtual Victor is a special case in it's own http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=22973.
  7. I participated in the Virtual Victor Travel Bug, and I thought it was a hoot! I don't know how long he will go on, or what will happen when he reaches his 1,000,000 miles, but I sure am curious to find out! I wouldn't want to see a bunch of them pop up, though. He is unique. And I guess I can see where the former leader might be a little offended at Victor taking over the top spot. Maybe I would be if it were me. Still, it is fun to see Victor do his thing!
  8. When we go out as a group we all try and find it seperately. Whe anyone spots it, they just move on as if they are still looking, and then you could kind of mention that they have found it. It gets comical when you are still looking and you look up to see the others looking at the trees instead of for the cache, and you know you are the big dummy that hasn't found it yet!! (Usually me) If it is a really difficult cache to find, such as covered in snow, and we are about ready to quit, we just say, if one finds it, we have all found it! Then we have one of us sign the log for all with our "took this and left that".
