  1. You are right and I agree with your rant. I hope I don't get something like that. I got one too. I have a new Cache to put it in but I still have to finalize it, then finish writing the Cache Page. What part of I just got itand I did not know I was getting it. Everybody just hold your pants on. It will get out there.
  2. IGJoe That is what I plan to do unless anyone can tell me I can't. No matter how confused I am. I am taking a GJTB I was sent, take a picture of it now, but enter it in next months theme. You can only submit one picture per TB # but it does not say it has to be submitted in the same month you took the picture.
  3. Forgive me for being a little dense but I am trying to figure out if I can do this. I got a Jeep TB. I understand that you can only submit one photo per TB#, SO. I do not want to submit a picture for Discovery, this month, but I want to take a picture and submit it for September which is Freedom. Can I do it this way? Then if I find another Jeep, if people don't hoard them, I can take a picture of it for another theme and post that one in the proper time period. Is my thinking right or am I still confused? Thanks
  4. Go to the sporting goods at Walmart. Ask for bright eyes or trail marking twist ties. The twist ties are really hard to see in the daytime but show up well with a flash light. Using these things makes a trail in the dark pretty direction specific. At the cache you might want a reflective pin that is visible from all 4 directions. Other wise you might search for a long time before your flashlight hits a reflective pin. There was one near me that was recieved very well a couple of years ago. Sounds like fun.
  5. I fought mine for a bit until I got the page sequence set for me. I just use these 5 pages. If I need another one I go to the Main page and bring it up. This is simple and consie for me so I'm not searching through pages when I go to use the GPS Sattelite- when I first turn it on to see I have reception Find page- so I go right to finding what I want to look for Compass- go to will get you there anyhow Odometer page- I like to have it set to 0 to see how far I have gone Tracks- Just in case you need to back track or short cut back to the cachemobile. I also practice track back in case I really need it sometime. I liike Track UP WASS-on Off Road
  6. A tip of the hat for NERO for posting this. I was a winner in week 8. Thanks for the tip.
  7. I have just gone paperless with a 5 year old Mac. This webpage was a real help. But if you have a USB Garmin you have to use Macgpsbabel instead of Mac simple. It all worked very easy. I hope this helps considering all the Mac bashing. You have to forgive them they will just never know the joys of a Mac. Sometimes we need a work around but it still beats a PC anyday. Paperless with a Mac

  9. My thanks to PDOP's and MIRAGEE for those links. I am slowly but surely doing paperless. While I have searched for any informationn about this I have never seen those links. They helped explain a lot. THANKS!
  10. I just asked the same question to my reviewer. I could not adopt the archived cache but he told me to work up a new cache to place there. ( The original owner has disappeared ) Just what I have learned. Hope this helps.
  11. This is great information for a Mac user. The only thing different is that if you have a usb connection on your GPS you have to use the newest GPSbabel, not Macsimple GPS, to load info into your GPS Paperless with a Mac
  12. Check this post. One of the last 3 had an ipac. What pda do you use
  13. I will have to second Mastifflover's vote. Keystone is beyond exceptional. He is very easy to work with and must spend an exceptional amount of time working with cachers. I know my hat is off to him.
  14. Just my two cents. I lived in Maryland for 25 years and had a real problem with ticks. I happen to be a "Tick Magnet". We won't even talk about those nasty little Chiggers. Now I live in PA and do a lot of maintenece on the Quehanna Trail. This place is infested with ticks too. The good part is there are no Chiggers in PA. Anyhow I started using these products on my clothes and I never get ticks anymore. The repellents with Permethrin in them will keep Ticks and Chiggers off you. THESE PRODUCTS ARE ONLY FOR ON YOUR CLOTHES!!, NOT YOUR SKIN.. I wear shorts a lot of the time and as long as my clothes are sprayed and I put some insect repellent onl my exposed skin I never get ticks at all. These products have worked for me. There is also a new one at Walmart that I think is called Permanone. I never leave home without clothes that have been treated. It will also last for several washings. I usually mark the tags with a magic marker to indicated that the clothes have been treated.
  15. It's normal. Your GPS needs to be moving to know what direction you are facing. When you don't move the normal position error will change your calculated position by small amounts. Those small amounts cause your GPS pointer to flit about. Moving even a little will cause that small error to no longer matter relative to your movement and things work normally. Your old GPS could have had firmware that could tell when you were standing still (more or less) and then it just told the GPS to not update the pointer. Or maybe your old GPS was goofy. Your GPS though sounds fine. Thanks for the reply. At least I know it's not bad or I has something set wrong.
  16. I had an old Legend that when I stopped the compass needle would stop. With this Legend C when I stop the needle spins in a circle. Well it jumps to about 3 or 4 spots, as it spins. Is this normal behavior or do I have something set wrong?
  17. I have a Mac and a Legend C. I have finally learned how to go paperless with it mostly through this web page. Paperless with a Mac The only thing that did not work was MacSimple. It will not recognize the USB connection. I went to GPS Babel and have had no problems at all loading waypoints into my Garmin now. I also paid for Cachemate and will use it to load pages on my Palm Zire 31. Life is good now I though I was going to have to wait until next month when I get my new Mac with windows, but I can manage without it now. I will however need the windows to load maps from Mapsource into it. Anyhow I am surviving very will with my Mac right now. Hope this helps.
  18. Numbers, numbers, It's not about the numbers!!! Enjoy the game for what it is. If numbers are your thing then go for it. BUT finding your own cache ---- Bad Number!! Unless you don't mind false numbers then go for it. Remember it's not about numbers!! This is supposed to be fun.
  19. What I can't figure out is how this topic deserves 2 pages of replys. Except for the stupid one I just made. Who Cares!!!
  20. I would like to see just what others are using and why. It has been an exhausting search trying to figure out what I should get. What PDA, with what system, PC or MAC and would you recommend it.
  21. It looks like the M 500 would work well for what I want too. To be sure about this model, it is just USB connection. I would not need any serial adapter. Is this correct? I apreciate all this help with this. Has anyone used the PalmOne Zire 31 for paperless caching?
  22. This Palm Z22 fits my budget but I want to make sure it will work for paperless caching. Does anyone use this Palm and do I need additional software to use it for caching. BTW I'll be using it on a Mac and soon an Intel Mac, which will sove many Mac problems. Mainly will it work for paperless caching?
  23. I was in touch with MacSimple and they told me that they were working on USB support for the next version. I don't know when that will be. I'll be getting an INTEL Mac in August. I guess I'll just wait until then to have my problems solved. That is all I need windows for is Geocaching.
  24. I am using a Mac with OS10.9 and a Garmin Legned C that has a mini usb hookup in the back. My problem being that when I try to send the waypoints to the GPS Mac Simple says it cannot open the serial port. Not sure what to do here. I have checked the preferences but do not see anything I can change in there to make it see the GPS. Has anyone done this with a Legend C before? Thanks.
