  1. How is Adoption done now, it says to go to Adoption page....how and where do i find that?
  2. Does Groundspeak have plans to make a suvenir available for caches or Events found or Attended on 11-11-11 as they did for 10-10-10 ???
  3. We have also done some very creative caches that get us rave reviews from cachers, some lasting up to a year before being taken. We have replaced one particular cache four times,"Joe's Old Boat" (GC118FB), due to it's highly active location it get lots of action and many votes for best cache found by numerous cachers. We have the attitude that "You Meet The Nicest People Geocaching!" But there will always be that minuscule number of cachers that do not play the game fairly and ruin it for everyone. So we have kept replacing it for the pleasure of those who hear about it and plan to find it some day when they get down our way.
  4. Looking for a Yellow Fire Truck Geocoin, Produced by River Cacher Geocoins. Need a Yellow Fire Truck to complete my Collection.
  5. Here on the Southern Oregon Coast we love placing caches along the Pacific Ocean so we and others can enjoy the Great Views. We placed a new Cache in Winchester Bay, OR in July of last year for an upcoming Event. It turned out to be a very popular location that had many Finds until February of this years when we received several DNFs for our Cache. We were also unable to locate our Cache, we figured that the High Tides of Winter and several Winter Storms may have swept our cache away. Not wanting to loose another container we decided to archive the Cache. After many weeks we received an email from a fellow Cacher in Waldport, OR that they had found our Cache on the beach 2 miles north of town while beach combing. They figured our Cache traveled 60 miles in the Open Ocean during the height of high winter waves and ended up on their beach, they assured us all contents including the Logsheet were completely dry. A great testiment for using Lock&Lock containers here in the Wet NorthWest.
  6. Thanx Phish bonz, everything will help, thank you for your donation.
  7. Joranda, Thank you so much, Anything will help. My address is : Steven Wilcox, 65359 E.Bay Rd., North Bend, OR 97459. We will figure a way to auction off all donated items for the "River Cacher Fund". Thank you for "Helping a Caching Friend". Steve 'n' Nancy
  8. River Cacher has become a "Caching Friend" to us when he attended our "10 Years of Geocaching" Event (GC21427) on Feb 13th, 2010. We had minted a Geocoin for our Event and due to issued over Copyrights we were not allowed to sell our "10 Years of Geocaching" Geocoin at our Event as planned. River Cacher, hearing of our situation made some contacts and after a few weeks our coin problems were resolved. Since then we have learned that River Cacher has been diagnosed with Cancer and is now going through Treatments that has drained his life savings. We would like to do whatever we can to repay River Cacher for what he has done for us. We are setting up the "10 Years of Geocaching" Geocoin - RC Fund Raiser. We will be auctioning off a 3 Coin Set on EBAY, Starting April 13th, 2010, the auction will last 21 Days and end on May 3rd, 2010, (The 10th Anniversary of Geocaching). The First Coin will be our Original design with the Original Stash Plaque on one side and the State of Oregon with "10 Years of Geocaching" 2000-2010 on the other side. Two more versions of the coin are now in the process of being minted. One Set of 3 coins will go to the highest bidder. This will probably be the only chance ever to purchase the complete set of all 3 "10 Years of Geocaching" versions together. We hope this will help River Cacher with his medical expenses and bring together the Geocaching World to help out a fellow Cacher. Send any donations for our "RC Fund Raiser" to: Steven Wilcox, 65359 E. Bay Rd., North Bend, OR 97459.
  9. Here on the Southern Coast of Oregon we love the water and often place our caches close to the water so other Cachers can enjoys some of the views we see all the time. But once in a while we place our caches too close to the water. When a cache is placed on warm summer days here on the Coast we often forget how high the Tides will get during the winter, then around January or February we start getting those DNFs and go to Check and the container is nowhere to be found. This occured again this year to our Cache...Bedrock's by the Bay, placed in Winchester Bay, Oregon. This Cache was placed in July of last year especially for an Event we hosted, the cache proved to be very popular and had many finds until February of this Year after several January Storms with extreme high tides we received several DNF's. We checked and indeed the Cache had gone missing, realizing that the tide must have taken our container we decided to archive the Cache as it would most likely "Float Away" again with the next High Winter Tide. Surprizingly this week ( March 15th) we received an email from a.k.a. Radar, a Cacher in Waldport, Oregon....some 60 miles North of Winchester Bay, telling us he found our Cacher on the beach 2 miles North of Waldport. He reported the Cache was in very good condition and all contents, including the logsheet were dry. Amazing for a 60 mile trip in the Pacific Ocean during winter when the waves are at their largest. Mark one big atta boy for Lock&Lock. Our one Big Question is: Does a.k.a. Radar get to Log this as a Find?....As long as he signs the logsheet, we say YES!!!
  10. I purchased a Geocoin on EBAY and recieved no information on how to activate the coin. It is a Geocaching on the Mother Road-Missouri US 66 Geocoin. I can not find which Geocoin Company sold it so I can get the Activation code. Can anyone help me on this?
  11. We place a FTF pin in all our caches, and have begun Putting a Congrats to the FTF Cacher on the Cache Page as soon as they find it.
  12. We have been asked by a local Cacher/School Teacher if we knew of any way to get some GPS units to use in a class project. Either Donated to the school or available at a low affordable cost, or a borrowing program. Has anyone heard of any of the GPS manufacturers or GPS Dealers offering such a school program?
  13. Wife says i spent so much on geocaching over the past year that we had no money for Christmas presents this year.....Sad but True.
  14. Dashing through da snow in our rusty cachemobile, or' da hills we go, holding on to da steering wheel. We're off to grandma's house to share some Christmas Cheer, but what do you know we round a curve and slam into some deer. Oh Rust and Smoke, da Heater's Broke, da GPSr it's OK We light a Match to see da dash and then we start to pray. Da muffler went , da frame is bent, da GPSr it's OK. We got da coords to da next cache, And it's right on da way.
  15. We had only heard of one cache before that you had to watch a specific Movie to get the coords to a final cache. We went ahead a put together a Cache (GC1JMX7) If You Hide It, They Will Come! The Movie is "Field of Dreams" with Kevin Costner. The Cache was found the same day it was published, which was a big surprise that someone actually had the video at home. Then the FTF cacher had a new Movie Cache out within 2 or 3 days Based on "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart (GC1JQ12) Life Is Good. We have a copy of the Movie and watched it carefully for the clues and off we went and were FTF and the prize was a Genuine Jimmy Stewart autograph and an "It's a Wonderful Life" Oregon Lottery Ticket. Has anyone else put together a Movie Cache or seen others? Steve 'n' Nancy South Coast Geocachers
  16. I'm an automotive technician and offen check rear defoggers for proper operation by using a laser temperature gun. The average temp of a defogger grid in only 90 to 100 degrees F so it should not be warm enough to melt vinyl stickers, Steve 'n' Nancy
  17. We were out on our usual Sunday afternoon drive on the Oregon Coast, stopped at the Coast Guard lookout as usual, which allows a great view of the ocean . While enjoying the view we noticed a white car pull in approximately 25 yards away and the driver bailed out and rushed into the near by woods. Must of had to go pretty badly we thought. He then reappears and came back to the car and was talking to whom we believed to be his wife. A few moments of chat and back into the woods he went. This strange activity peaked our curiousity. He reappeared and i spotted a handheld GPS in his hand, now what can he be doing. We finally had to approach the couple and inquire as to what they were doing with the GPS. It's Called "Geocaching" , they then explained to us what geocaching was and we followed him into the woods this time and joined in on the search for the elusive treasure box. we scoured the brush for anything that did not belong. "EUREKA", i found a white kitchen trash bag which had a Tupperware container wrapped inside. I handed it to Charlie of Charlie 'n' Sue and he opened it and removed the Log Book to sign and date his find. The box was full of small toys and items of various types, very interesting we thought. How many of these hides are there near here we asked, There are quite a few and they are hiden all around the world. Sue gave us an old printout of a hide so we would have the Websight information and could check it out online. That was over 2 years ago and 300 Finds and 85 Hides later, we do something Geocaching related almost everyday. We are Steve 'n' Nancy
