  1. OF course I recognize you, and yes I'll be at the fling. Hey, I think it is up to you now to keep my cache count going during the school week, so get planting! I need to hit 3000 by Jan 5, otherwise the geopolice revoke my geocaching license! hahaha, ok. i'm planning to place some out and about at some cool sites. i was thinking that the farm progress show site would be cool (with pemission), what'dya think?
  2. hi mutherandsun! how are you doing? ive been watching your find count sky rocket the past few months, i dont know if you recognize my name, but i live really close to you and am looking forward to meeting you! are you going to the the "fall fling" event at spitler woods?
  3. i guess what i was trying to say, is that, if its on another site, but archived on this one, and you didnt know about it being on another site, then you could go get it just in case its not on another site. by doing this, you would remove trash, unless its on another site. and if it is another site, then they willl replace it if it si missing. does that make sense?
  4. like what briansnat said, if its registered on another site, they will replace it as if it had been muggled. so, in the end, ide play it safe and retrieve it.
  5. not sure about exact number, but one that i saw had over 300 before it was found
  6. Absolutely, what if it was filled with cash? or maybe it's holding the cache . i know i know, that was baaaad
  7. First off my opinion is not wrong.... that would be the "To me" part that I said. It's my opinion just like your opinion is yours. So you're saying, If I worked at Domino's Pizza I could place a cache near Domino's Pizza, with Domino's Pizza Hats, Coupons and Stickers?? That maybe a love for Domino's but it could be pure advertising to get people to my store. Ebay's a web based business, so there's no difference between a store of a website for them. If you allow Ebay then you have to allow Domino's, so it's easier just to have a blanket guide line that says no. That way it's not left up to individual reviewers. And yes it would be promoting Groundspeak, Groundspeak has allowed commercial caches before, but they have to do it... ie A.P.E... Jeep... So commercials fine as long as they're in control of it. There's plenty of threads about commercial vs Groundspeak and this topic in particular. My view is Groundspeak has a commercial monopoly over geocaching ( The History of Geocaching ) they can do whatever they want on their website. um, yeah.
  8. wrong. this could simply be a love for something, like geocaching. what if i place a cache and plaster it with groundpeak stickers saying "this is a geocache"? is this promoting grounspeak? or advertising for Groundspeak? i think not! and, with all the ebay stuff in it, it could just be a themed cache, like some do with DVD's and collectors items. so, in the end, i dont think you did anything wrong, you just got a snobby reviewer
  9. i recently traveled to new yorks capitol (from bloomington IL). we went through a number of different airlines and the same thing with all of them. you will no problem getting them on carry-on, but you not be able to use them while flying. if i were you, i would take my GPS in my carry-on (with batteries), and dont even bother to take it out of your bag. at least this is how it was for me 2 weeks ago.
  10. it depends on the situation if it is inappropriate or not. lets say for instance, it was a family member who was a devout cacher, and wanted one on his/her headstone, that would be fine, since technically, your family owns the property. or lets say it was a friend that cached, and his family did not, but they wanted one placed there, that would be fine. any circumstance of that nature would be appropriate. now if the person who hides this has no relation and/or there was no request to ave this done, then, yes, this is definitely inappropriate. if i were you, i wol not worry about it to much, im sure if there is a problem, it will be fixed eventually.
  11. im only 15 but i got into the movie 300 without even being questioned.
  12. hahahaahahahaha, thats awesome, so is the movie. hahahahahahaahahahaha
  13. you can also type your whole message then highlight what you wnt to be a link. thats how i do it...
  14. The only difference is that one has an electronic compass and altimeter, and one doesn't, which has nothing to do with he unit's sensitivity. so in the end, they get the reception? cool
  15. i've heard that both get good reception, but which of the two gets better, Garmin GPSmap60csx or Garmin GPSmap 60cx? or, do they get the same reception?
  16. not sure what language your trying to change it to or from, but this place works well for me.
  17. Actually, it's not the antenna, but the SIRF III chipset. I use a 60 CSx and swear by it. But the eTrex 'H' models also have a high-sensitivity chipset (not SIRF III, but rumored to be just as good), and they are about $100-$150 less expensive than my GPSr. doesnt the the gpsmap60Cx have a sirf III?
  18. thanks, i di a search on ebay but came up empty handed
