I would suggest the Garmin GPSmap60Cx not CSx. Do your research, find the differences. You will find that for $100(or however much more) for CSx will only give you a couple of features. You decide whether those features are worth the extra money. Personally, I don't think so.

I've been making one ever since this thread started... and I am constantly adding to it, from here and other cool caches I see along the way! Not sure if it's public or not, if not I'll change that right away. The bookmark is called "Really Cool Caches". Have fun!

Hmmm, maybe? Sorry, I just couldn't resist myself

A muggle thought my cache was a bomb

Could it be wildlifebear rather than beast? Or bears.... -

Can anyone read the the website at the bottom of the log? It starts out "wildlifeb~~~~" I can't read anything after the "b", but I can tell that there is a ".com". -
I was reading comparisons between different GPSr and noticed "RoHS version available:" as one of the features. Can someone please explain this? Thanks in advance!

Did anyone else notice that the cache link that OP gave was logged before published?

The Cx and CSx are identical except for the compass part. They are both still available, same chipset, same altimeter, but not an acurate compass bearing ONLY when your NOT moving. When you are moving, the compass is very accurate. P.S. I do think that the CSx does have a barometric something or other. Not sure about that....

I don't like to read really long posts, nor do I like to 30 posts when I haven't read any of them, so forgive me if this has been posted (by the OP, or by someone else). On a serious note, if they actually made this member feature available, would it be to much to ask for the ability to search archived caches?

Well, I got a new Palm and tried putting CacheMate on it, which worked fine, but then i try to register using the same code I got the first time, and it says it's invalid. Is this because my sync name is different the the old Palm? It's the same make as my old one, and it has been used before me, so I couldn't change the sync name on MY first sync to what my old one was. Any help? If it's as easy as chanding my sync name, how do you do that? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I did a zipcode search of your area, and came up with this result. That's 4098 within 50 miles of your zipcode.

Oops It WAS helpful though.... wasn't it?

How come somebody hasn't made one of these for searching archived caches? I love greasemonkey and all of the features it provides to Geocaching.com, but I have no clue how to write my own (yes, I have read on how to but it's a wee bit hard) otherwise I would. Anyone know how to write greasemonkey scripts? If so, wanna make one to search archived caches?

Well, you could always just buy a Palm for 30 bucks, CacheMate for 8 bucks (38 bucks), download a pocket query in a GPX file, and never have to print out another page again......

What is this all about?: It's about a bunch crazy people that love looking for camo colored Tupperware in the woods , you can find more info at Geocaching.com. At the main web page you can do multiple searches on Geocaches. search your zipcode, or your coordinates. you will most likely find thousands near your home. make sure you are logged in, then you can see maps and get coordinates to the Geocaches. What did I find?: Well, after what I just told you, you should know by now , it's a container that hold at a bare minimum, a logbook. It sounds like you found a "small". There are 5 basic sizes, Micro, Small, Regular, and Large. A micro is a 35mm film canister (or something of equivalent size, or even smaller). A small, is what you described. A regular would be something like an "ammo can". and larges are 5 gallon buckets or anything that is bigger. Is there more to find?: YES. LOTS. There are currently just under a half million caches world wide. And most likely hundreds within a few miles of your home. How do I know where to look?:Like previously stated, do a search of your area and find different listings. Each cache page has a set coordinates at the top, these are the locations of the caches themselves. If you become a premium member ($30 a year) then you can download "pocket query's", these allow you to mass download cache listings, and then load them to your GPS from the computer instead of hand entering. A good program for this EasyGPS. Well I have no more time to talk, hope this helps!

I was wondering if there is a way to mass download benchmarks like you can Geocaches. I know that there is a download button at the top of a benchmark search, but it only comes in LOC, can you get it in GPX?

Honestly, I have no clue. I don't own an iPod nor do I own a Mac. I simply did some research, found MacCaching.com, and did some "snooping" on their site. That's actually where I got the screen shot too. If you want to learn more, Google is just a click away...

Since I don't have a PDA, but I do have an iPod, I have begun using my iPod to store all the notes associated with caches of interest. It doesn't store the logs, but the cache information, including hints, is there. This is very convenient, especially when traveling away from my computer. How in the heck is this accomplished? Been trying to figure it out for some time now. I'm stumped! MacCaching.com. Here is screenshot. Notice the "iPod notes".

I own a Gilson for may Garmin GPSmap76 and it works GREAT! It's really nice for in the car... just stick it to the roof, wire it inside and hook it up, you get all 12 signals and most are as strong as it gets.for outside, it's not to handy, there really isn't a way to hold it and you GPS at the same time. I don't know of any good portable ones for carrying.

I completely agree that this is the absolute best mapping "thing". I say "thing" because it's not software like google earth, but it can run off other maps. Whatever. Queried Devil's Tower. Zoomed in and held my mouse over the center: Looks like it did a pretty good job: link to Geocaching Admin Terraserver Viewer of the same coordinates. Check out these pics of flash Earth. Here is bassically the same pic that Google Earth provides: ...And this is another pic, but zoomed in: If you use google earth and try to zoom in this far, it's gets blurry.

Also, on the "Pocket Query" page, near the bottom is an option to search by state.
-
The "hide and seek a cache" page has this option.

For the OP: What problems are you having with EasyGPS?
