  1. BasoonPilot's response has me thinking that maybe he was some sort of beta tester. I mean, nothing ever seemed to work like it was supposed to. Of course, I do remember one episode where he specifically mailed out a coupon and waited for it to be delivered, so that would kill that theory. Maybe it's a depraved version of masochism, in which the coyote feels compelled to continuously put himself into a no-win situation. Surely, with all of his "super-genius" I think if he really wanted to catch the Roadrunner, he would. Therefore, he must be fulfilling some kind of internal need for failure. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  2. Well, there's this one hunt I went on, where we hiked a while and ended up in this public cemetary not far from Aliquippa. I thought it seemed strange at first, I mean it said something about a children's playground on the cache page, but I've screwed those things up before, so I rolled with it. Well, I got to the coords and here it was at a grave, right there in the middle of the place. I would have just given up then and there but the dirt around it was all soft and stuff like it was recently dug. So I went at it figuring I had come this far, and pretty soon I found the cache! It was the biggest container I have found yet, and wood too! What was awesome was that I was FTF, because there was a ring and a wristwatch! w00t! I wanted to trade fair but I only hade some Pokemon cards and a rubber frog. That was one of the best caches ever! I hope I get to do more like that... ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  3. Just from the fact that its retirement has spurned a topic goes to show you how much this cache was appreciated. I had great fun with Lep, QuestMaster and SlimJim in finding this awesome cache. It took you down this insane descent, across some of the most interesting terrain, to the final cache location. On a day of challenging caches, this was one of the best! I will miss it. I also agree with QuestMaster - we need more caches like this. I'd take 1 of these over 20 P&Gs. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  4. I think it's interesting how people can figure out how to insert emoticons while still being blissfully unaware of all of the non-alphanumeric keys on the keyboard. About the initial cache question: if you have two potential locations for micros, you might want to consider making the cache a multi. Otherwise, you would have to have two log books, which, as far as I know, isn't a crime. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  5. I did nine caches in Maine recently. Quite possibly, mine was one of the logs you saw (haven't checked). I really liked theBlue Hill Mountain cache. Also the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles cache was fun if a bit rough on the arms (thorns). I found Maine caches in general to be a great way to see the amazing country there. It's absolutely beautiful! Terrains tended to be rated a little higher than they are in western Pennsylvania... a three here is about a four in Maine. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  6. As the originator of the hamster cache, I can assure you that no food of any kind is placed with the animals. That would be against the rules. We wouldn't want any large predators being attracted to the cache. What I typically do is place the hamster in a cache shortly after it has had a final meal. I make it a point to log the placement immediately, just so people can have as much time as possible to be the next finder. It adds a certain element of excitement, especially in the winter months when you're talking about a much narrower survival window. In regards to the containers being airtight, as Lep had pointed out - we can't allow the cache contents to get wet. Fortunately, hamsters have a very small lung capacity, and in a 50 cal. ammo can they have enough air for almost two days. I usually try to remove some of the larger McToys if the can is too full, just to leave more room for air. I figure it's a fair trade, because people really seem to like my hamsters. When they get there in time, that is. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  7. Okay, so I didn't realize that you could pretty much do what I suggested above inside the forums. I guess I never looked at all the functionality there - at one point the forum profiles were entirely separate. Well, guess I'll go find some more loose paint chips to eat. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  8. Since you're retooling the site anyway, I thought I'd suggest a feature. I'd like to see a friend list on my personal cache page. Just like you can watch caches, it would be cool to have a listing of friends. The reason I'd like this is often I want to jump to a particular profile to check against their most recent caches. This is really useful if I was caching with someone and want to write logs for caches they have already logged. Or, sometimes I know someone is just shy of a milestone, so I keep checking to know if they hit it. It also makes stalking that much easier. While I'm yappin', things are looking good on the new site changes. If you can make things more efficient and work better as a whole, I'm all for it. Thanks for all of your hard efforts! ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?

  11. I agree pretty much with what Lep said - it can be difficult trying to navigate around the city because nothing intersects at a right angle. So if you're looking to avoid driving around too much, the cluster in North Park is probably your best bet. There's a nice grouping of relatively easy caches there that are fun to do. It sounds like you want to keep things simple and close to town, so I think Lep's list is pretty much all you need. Good luck, I hope you enjoy your visit! ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  12. Hey thanks everyone!!! Lep - I'm afraid you must be suffering from the ill effects of the heavy water I use to fill my Camelbak. Nothing refreshes like deuterium... mmmm!! Since Jim turned me on to this hobby / game / sport / obsession / cash vacuum, I have had a lot of great adventures and met some of the best people I know. Shout-outs to: SlimJim28 for driving all over (and sometimes under) Creation not to mention finding a sizeable share of the caches we've done together, The Leprechauns for mentoring me early on, giving me many tips and advice, insulting me regularly in IRC, and making the whole thing just that much more fun. Quest Master for placing some of the best caches in the area. Do them, all of you! GeorgeXXIII for showing me what not to do on a cache hunt. All of the hard-working people that run this site - you put up with way more than you deserve. Everyone on IRC, too numerous to name. I hope to meet you all someday in person, no matter how craftily you cloak your real identities... [insert creepy music here] My brother-in-law for the discount hamsters. Anyone that's placed a cache I have found. I realize that by now 100 finds is no big deal to some of you, depending on where you live, people can pound that out in a week. But for me, it's been a series of great experiences, a bunch of excellent people, 2 incredible events, bitter cold, deep mud, a very wet Jeep, clouds of insects, scary illiterates with firearms, rain, very slick bridges, and bad roads. And I had fun the whole time! Thanks again, I can't wait to see what the next 100 brings! ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  13. You're flaming people and calling them names because they are not being 'nice' on the forums. The logic here is so flawed that I think it's time to send you off to the organ farm. Someone with something to offer society could probably make better use of those kidneys. As for the people you single out, they are more helpful and have contributed more to Geocaching than you realize. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  14. Well, when I write logs, I like to post a bunch of weird in-jokes and obscure references that are funny maybe to two people. I sometimes throw in the occasional non-sequitur when I really want to mattress the bifurcated onion talon. Sometimes I even include funny anecdotes that relate to the actual cache. Well, I think they're funny. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  15. quote:Originally posted by T-Storm:...that a nasty person had put an ugly word on her picture. I'm not actually nasty, but I sometimes smell that way. I want to apologize for offending you. I intentionally used an image with which I assumed everyone would be familiar - that was the point. I grafted the word "DOOTS" on the container because of an unrelated post in the same thread. In hindsight, I can understand how you could find it offensive. It was unintentional, and I am sorry. 16. People are so unoriginal these days. Whatever happened to individuality? I'm going to start a new club - the Individual's club. At the first meeting we can design uniforms and work out the words to our theme song, which we can sing in unison at the club rallies on Thursday afternoons. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  17. quote:Anybody who would steal an avatar is scum. I couldn't agree more, unless you went on further to decry the bane of Top 40 radio and shoelaces that fall apart after the first 5 years. What I mean to say is that it is completely wrong to steal someone else's image and use it as your own. Anyone doing so should be fed his own toenails. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?

  19. Actually, if ya don't mind, I was thinking about remarketing the 'Doots' concept. Not everyone can commit financially to an entire bucket, and I was thinking of shooting for a 'younger' angle. Something you might be able to get in a movie theater, perhaps... ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  20. Craigsville on the Hill is a 5-gallon bucket, but it's been temporarily deactivated. Why, I don't know, because there were 2 NF's and I don't think either one was anywhere near the actual cache. Good luck with the fireman! ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  21. Don't trust true north! Just because it's "true" doesn't mean it's true all the time. Sometimes it lies. And when it does, it leaves you with that hollow, bitter feeling inside. But it's not your fault! Oh no! You must look within and know that you're better than some two-faced compass direction. You can stand on your own two feet, and learn to be your own source of guidance. And then, only then, will you be truly free! ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  22. Okay, so what if I'm three months late? So what if I only have two ornaments? So what if it this sucker's deciduous? I don't care - it's my Christmas tree, and I like it! Who wants nog? ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
  23. I don't bother leaving lighters because the road flares I put in caches are self-lighting. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?

  25. quote: One more reason to not post coordinates for parking spaces All a potential crook has to do is watch this web site, and find the easy places to find a car. Now, no offense, but that seems a bit silly. I mean, it's not uncommon for a month or two to pass between finds on caches around here. I can't see a thief being that patient. ------------------------------ Have you had your house checked for Rae Dawn Chong?
