  1. Thanks, I'm already watching all the trackables (apart from mine as it won't let me do that). I'm unable to share that list though with other people in the race like I'm able to do with a bookmark list. Cheers
  2. Hi, just wondering if it's possible to bookmark a list of trackables? I'm trying to find a way to easily view a lot of trackable that are in a race. What's the best way to do that? Thanks for any advice
  3. Yes as they did it again tonight. I know the stat is not going to be removed but just wanted to say that it is detrimental to the environment. "Carrying on my streak of 20 days" ..who gives a f*** Thank you for listening.
  4. It might be a bit controversial but I think removing the 'Current Streak' statistic would be beneficial. Many times I see cachers travelling miles and miles by car to get one single smiley only to do a similar journey again the next day to get another smiley which was 161m away! Ridiculous! This goes on day after day basically wasting fuel over a statistic which means nothing, only to the cacher. Same thing goes for FTF but thankfully this isn't a stat. So I say, remove this 'Current Streak' nonsense as it only encourages cachers to get a minimum daily geocache which I believe isn't in the spirit of the game. It's environmentally irresponsible.
  5. Hi, it was the zoom level thanks! when I zoom out I can see the land. I must say though that I have to go quite far out in order to see the map which doesn't make it very helpful to use. Thanks for the pointer
  6. Hi, I noticed when I go to hide a cache through 'Create a Geocache' page on the website, the satellite view isn't working.. The normal street map works but not the satellite view. Any ideas how to rectify this? Thanks
  7. Yes I know, but I wouldn't want to delete anyone's photos only rotate them. That's possible but a simple rotate addition to what the CO can do would be beneficial to all. It's just a suggestion for the website
  8. I notice quite a few people posting photos on my geocaches but some of them are rotated and appear on their side and even upside down! I think it would be a good feature if the cache owner could rotate these photos as well as being able to delete them. This would help maintain good looking galleries. Thanks
  9. True, but that's mostly a quirk of the geography of Panama. Yes I know that thanks, I was offering it as another question for the quiz! Thanks for the suggestions!
  10. That's true.. good for them for checking the forums
  11. Nice one, I like it! Trick question! Dave didn't place/hide a 'Geocache' Good point! ...which then begs the question, who really did hide the first "geocache"? After doing some research on the gpsstash group, I found that it was May 30, 2000 when the new name of "geocaching" was adopted. The already-existing stashes were retroactively renamed, but the first one that was hidden under the new name would have been Arikaree on May 31, 2000. Therefore, the correct answer to the above question is actually "The Kansas Stasher". Ah this seems to be not as straight forward, I might not use this one!
  12. Hi all, I'm thinking of hosting an event at a local pub and I thought that I'd add a little bit of flavour with a Geocaching pub quiz. I'm looking for questions and answers for the quiz. Looking for anything Geocaching related like: What is the name of the person who placed the first Geocache? What year was the first Geocache placed? Name as many Geocache types as you can, including Grandfathered ones. what does 'Geo' mean in the word Geocaching? That sort of thing.. anyone with any good questions they can share? Thanks
  13. That's one more post for me, thanks for starting this thread
  14. Oops oh yeah got ya Im in UK and we don't have these.
  15. Can you define skirtlifter cache for me please?
  16. That's a lot of green tupperware icons for a 4-time Geocacher of the Year. Look at all the own placed hides! Impressive!!
  17. Some excellent responses here thanks! Just to clarify, I already have a smartphone which I'm using and also the official app. I use two other apps, Geo-placer and MapMyRun (to calculate distance between new cache locations) which are great additions to help me geocaching. I can understand the need for better accuracy as I really only get 3 metre accuracy on the phone and also the durability as if dropped could potential be an expensive replacement! Think I'll stick with the phone for now but a dedicated device would be a great addition to the arsenal in the future! Thanks all
  18. Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a GPS device but I wonder what are the pros and cons for GPS devices and Smart Phones? Which is better and why?
  19. I'm using Android so had a look at the link and is pretty straight forward. I appreciate the advice, thanks for your help.
  20. Hi all, I've got a pretty straight forward question that I hope isn't too obvious.. I've been setting up a trail of caches around my area and I've been to each location and got the coordinates by using Geo-Placer to average the location. Now I've got the coordinates I'd like to (preferably) use the Geocaching App to navigate to them and check they are spot on. Am I able to do that with the App or is there another App that might be good to test my locations. Thanks for any advice!
  21. Hi not sure if it will help or even if you can implement it but a great HTML countdown timer is here: Countdown timer
