  1. We did something like this to record our holiday in New Zealand earlier this year. It seemed to take forever to drop the coin in, retrieve it and post a few photos - and we only had about 60 caches to log. We decided it was easier to release the coin into the wild and just watch its travels and if we are lucky we will even have a few photos uploaded. The coin has now travelled over 42,500km to the UK and is now in Germany - lots of fun.
  2. Nice looking coin LoriDarlin, and it would be nice if everyone could live by the message to
  3. Gee this is a great looking coin to spread the message.
  4. Hey this looks like a great personal coin - well done

  6. I would love to assist if you would like to send some coins to Australia, which obviously fits the category of outside of North America. In this instance as the coin will already have a hole in it to attach something, I would prepare a laminated card to attach to the coin indicating the coin name, tracking number and that the coin is trackable at geocaching.com. The card would also state the owners name and coin mission so that anyone picking up the coin knows whether they will be able to assist the coin with its mission. The card would further indicate that the coin is a traveler, it is meant to move not to be kept and that if it cannot be moved along, please don’t take it. Where the coins do not already have a hole to attach the coin details, the laminated card and coin would be placed in a zip lock bag. I'm not sure if I will need to include a bike awareness message but if I did, what would come to mind is: Look left, Look right, Look Bike (for Australia that is because we drive on the other side of the road to the US!)
  7. Hooray, we have received our mission 1. Participating: 5/10/08 2. Received Name: 30/10/08 3. Mission Complete: 4. Package Received: Now that we know which country we will be mailing to, we can gather the goodies, package them nicely and send it on its way. Thank you for all the hard work Butterfly-lady, or rather Santa's Helper.
  8. Hi gardengorilla The plant in your first picture, in Queensland, is called either a grass tree or a black boy (if you see much taller plants, you will notice the stem of the plant is black) - hope that helps. Grass trees are very slow growing, approximately 1cm per year. Unfortunately I do not recognise the flower in the other picture. Robyn
  9. Have a great trip Jodi - even we haven't managed to visit Tasmania or Western Australia yet You should find some beautiful places to visit
  10. Wow! All the photos posted look so professional! Mine are a bit ordinary, but I would still like to share. While attending a CITO event on Fraser Island, we were visited by a small goanna. We had the Big Red London Bus TB along for the trip so I decided to take a picture and placed the TB in the path of the goanna. Unfortunately for me though, as I crouched down to take the photo, I almost spooked the goanna and gave myself the fright of my life! Now you don't usually have too much trouble with a goanna so long as you don't get too close or make it feel threatened - but if you do it is not pretty. A goanna will usually just amble by, but when they need to, they run very fast and climb trees with amazing speed and agility. With their claws, you don't want them confusing you for a tree Some other photos from the weekend include a nice little lake Champagne Pools Turtles in Lake Allom and sand, sand and more sand
  11. Wow! You guys get to have all the fun - what with Geocoinfests and Mega Events and you also seem to have mystery coins fall into your laps Great looking coin that we will probably never get to see in the flesh Keep having fun.
  12. Wow! All those 4x4s look so nice and shiny. We have a Toyota HiLux 4x4 which we use for some of our caching trips. Earlier this year, we organised a CITO event on Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. Pictures taken during the weekend (not by us though) can be found at http://www.edriver.com.au/geo_img/ Our vehicle is the last one on page 4 with the bags of rubbish in the back. The relevant cache page is GC19BAM And another image from the weekend is: And this is what it usually looks like after a normal day of caching:
  13. If only the exchange rate wasn't so bad at the moment These coins would really be good to place in caches.
  14. Is anyone else having difficulty accessing the document? I have received the invite via email but when I click on the link, I receive a message indicating the page cannot be found and that the page I am looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. I would dearly like to be able to participate in this initiative if at all possible. Cheers from Australia
  15. Well, if it isn't actually logged into the cache yet I give them time to log it into the cache. Our usual practice is to log the trackable retrieved when we log the cache find. If the trackable hasn't been logged into the cache, we would first send a message to who was holding the trackable reminding them to drop it off before we resorted to grabbing the item. This usually works and keeps the miles travelled accurate. Due to a number of our own trackables having gone missing, if we notice one listed in the inventory for a cache is not there, we will send an email to the owner of the trackable to let them know we didn't notice it in the cache.
  16. Great looking coins, but the picture at the beginning of the post would also make a great coin - perhaps a micro coin.
  17. We would love to participate This will be our first time participating in a mission and look forward to it. 1. Participating: E-mail sent Oct 5 2. Received Name: 3. Mission Complete: 4. Package Received!:
  18. Just confirming we are still actively caching and wish to remain on the "World Release Register". Thanks for all your efforts Andrew. Cheers Just a Trifle
  19. Hi Steve I know of the carving you seek and will see what I can do to help you in your quest. Cheers Just a Trifle
  20. Hi If you still need help with moving your travel bug on, we can assist. I work in the Brisbane CBD if that helps at all.
  21. Hi swtraven If you will be in Brisbane, or anywhere near the Sunshine Coast, we could make some arrangements to help you out.
  22. These coins look great and we hope to be able to purchase some when they become available. We would appreciate being added to any list if one is being created (although from the interest which has been shown, it looks af if there will not be enough coins for everyone!)
  23. It would be appreciated if we could be added to your register. We note there is already a Queensland cacher listed however it was this person who drew our attention to this site. Caching name: Just a Trifle Location: Elimbah, Queensland, Australia Our caching activities are mostly in SE Queensland, however we periodically venture interstate and overseas.
