  1. Hopefully, you're talking about the "show all logs" feature, if so, that would work just fine. Thanks for the quick reply, Eswau
  2. Is there a way to list visits to caches that have since been archived or disabled? Similar I guess to The "Show" features on My Caches under My Cache Page. I'm always curious to see what happened when I notice a cache I had found turns up archived. This would just make that search quicker than scrolling through all finds. E
  3. "It could also radically improve the precision of Global Positioning System satellite-based navigation devices" That's the last paragraph of This Article However, it doesn't really explain how or why. E
  4. You know, I think if people were just a little more honest--I mean really honest, instead of just terse--in their logs about their lackluster experience, that would make hiders think twice about the quality of their caches. Another reason why a "finders rating system" might be a good idea.... E
  5. What's so lame about that - yes it was a joke (note the three smilies in the post). Growing up in Dallas, NC (pop ~3000) I've spent my whole life explaining to people as soon as I say I'm from "Dallas" that I mean NC and not Texas. I apologize to all of the Texans that I have offended my inserting my Dallas, NC cache into this topic. Surely if you could get the Texas area into another regional forum, immature antics like this would never happen again. E
  6. Here's one that shows a lot of Dallas Let's Do Dallas E
  7. I have a Canon A75 which I'm very happy with. It may or may not have all the features that the others mentioned have, but it does everything I need it to. I think I paid ~ $275 and not it looks like they are around $175. I would expect the Christmas sales will be good to anyone wanting a digital camera this year. E
  8. You can make them yorself using PMC. Its a clay that burns off to .999 silver. Not too expensive and using PMC3 doesn't require an expensive kiln. That's some pretty neat stuff - too bad I have the artisitic ability of a stump. Do they make other metals (ie cheaper metals)? E
  9. Found this topic while doing a search on tokens. Now it looks like the min. order is 500 tokens. Anyone ordered from the Token Factory lately? Maybe I'm misreading the pricing/min. order. E
  10. They will never go away, in fact in some areas it's gotten this bad.
  11. You should be able to get to Charlotte, NC from Lancaster SC within an hour. Bunches of caches around Charlotte. At the moment none I recall seem to be very historical or nature related (though many are in very nice wooded areas where nature is abundent). Search for Charlotte caches on the NC state page and hopefully someone else will be able to suggest some good ones. Enjoy your trip, Eswau
  12. Charlotte can be hot & humid in the summer, plenty of insects and a fair amount of poision ivy to be found. We are also prone to get heavy rains in the fall from coastal huricanes. Winters can be iffy - I was caching last January and it was 70F one Saturday. We can also have a decent winter storm from time to time and probably average 2-4 good snows a winter. Even though there are plenty of caches around, the area seems to have stalled a little bit. Plenty of the ones that were here 2 years ago when I started are still here, and there are still some popping up. One good thing about Charlotte is that you're 2 hours away from the mountains and 3.5 hours away from the coast. Hickory is about 1 hour away and that area has exploded with creative caches in the past year. Columbia, SC is just over an hour and it has a bunch of great caches. The Charlotte area has around 4 Geoevents a year. Check out this site for the local web site. Let me know if you need any more specific info Eswau
  13. better make that tomorrow - the mail doesn't run today (Happy Columbus Day!)
  14. I have 1 MO cache and I made it that way because it has a little different twist to it and since it's in the middle of town, I didn't want someone to go buy a GPS at Walmart and see that my cache was the closest, and decide to make it their first cache to try and find. It wouldn't be a good beginners experience. E
  15. Jacque's Walkway is smack in the middle of all of the crowds of Gatlinburg. The difficultly is avoiding the muggles. I made my first trip to Gatlinburg this summer and hit most of the local caches. Most of the ones I did were in parks or such (I usually went out caching while the wife and kids took their nap). In case your interested - we ate dinner one night at the Alamo in P. Forge and really enjoyed it. Have fun. Eswau
  16. Since you mention it's a dog park - Maybe that person has a personal vendetta against dachsunds and other short-legged dogs.
  17. Gone Caching - Please Don't Tow!
  18. Most likely paid for with a tax funded grant. E
  19. Fruit fly hatching tube incubator. OK - not everyone out there has had to order fruit flys on a monthly basis to feed their pet . Fruit flys - $6 Packing & overnight shipment of monthly fly stock - $13 Finally selling your stock of - priceless E
  20. Farthest away is 12.8 miles. I've found 9 I've hid 6 2 are Temp. Off-line 1 requires a boat (which I don't have) 2 I just haven't got around to doing them (1 reg & 1 virt.) E
  21. Eswau, can you get me a deal on some? We don't actually make batteries. We make the lithium metal and supply the battery makers with that. So I have to pay the same $$ everyone else does for batteries. E
