  2. Hello, I got a digital camera finally and I was able to upload 1 picture to a geocache's page and then it would keep going to a "cannot find server"page. I've tried after restarting my computer and am just wondering what is going on?
  3. How can you tell whos watching your cache?
  4. I've found it to be accurate. I like all of the features on it. It's very useful. It's pretty much the same as the more expensive ones except for lack of mapping which isn't important for me. I would recommend it.
  5. Hey, I have a Mag 315. Ont he Plot screen where you can see your track, it says that it can have like 1200 dots or something before it starts recording over top of the old stuff. How long (kilometers or miles or meters etc.) in distance would your track log last before overwriting itself?
  6. How long can you expect your GPS to keep working well as long as you use it properly(not dropping a lot etc.) Thanks.
  7. The reason it won't go down into smaller digits for question #3 is because of your version. I bought my 315 with 3.15v on it.
  8. I also have a magellan 315. 1) To see the secondary coordinates you have to be on the position screen. Push the arrow button(round one in middle), push it left or right and it'll bring up a page that has both your primary and secondary coordinates. Just press left or right to get back to the position screen. 2)The thing that replaces the EPE is the position averaging mode. I don't think you can remove it from your gps in any way while your stationary. When I'm stationary and would like to see the EPE I just move the GPS a couple of feet side to side in my hand so it'll reappear. The EPE will only show up when the reciever is moving. 3)When your outside of 100 meters of the landmark it'll only go down to 10 meters. One your within 100 meters it'll change it's format and count down right to 1 meter. If it doesn't do that on yours within 100 meters then I am not sure how to change it. Hope I helped a bit.
  9. Anybody know a web site where you can get satellite images of CANADA? Can't seem to find any...
  10. What can you use to attach a gps case to a shoulder strap of a pack?
  11. okay, I got the info I needed. Thanks.
  12. Sorry that this is off topic but I figure somebody here knows a lil something about ropes so... About how much weight could this type of rope hold?(it will not be used for climbing) Thanks...
  13. I know this is a stupid question but...other then climbing, what can carabiners be used for?
  14. I need some help. Last couple of days the magellan 315 I own isn't picking up satellites. I'm lucky if I get one! It's only about 2 months old (christmas present) and has never been dropped or mistreated. I dunno what the heck is going on, there is a sunny blue sky outside right now and it won't work. #2....If you reinitialize your unit will you loose all of your landmarks and stuff?
  15. Is there a web site on the internet where you can get free topo maps that you can print off for Canada? Thanks.
  16. I have the north finder tech. on my mag 315. It dose work and is very simple, i use it all the time. When on the compass page, there will be a sun and a moon icon. When standing still, if you can see the sun, just line up the sun and the sun icon on your screen and it'll tell you which way your facing, same thing with the moon. It won't work unless you know where the sun is at, it's not as good as one of those electronic compasses in some gps's but it works just fine for me.
  17. Thanks a lot. Do you know the exact name of it?
  18. #1-Sorry if the links aren't working, they work for me. #2-No need to post replies... #3-It's not for geocaching...
  19. Sorry that this is sort of off topic but I figure somebody here might now of this. I am wondering if it is possible to get a book that has only topographical maps of Nova Scotia or maybe just a county or something. Is there books you can get that have just topo maps?
  20. Hello, I would like your opinions on the two following compasses and which one is better. I know they aren't as good as the real fancy ones but I'm just kind of getting started with all the compass work. Compass Number 1 Compass Number 2
  21. Yes, I had the lines a couple weeks ago but havent had them since.
  22. Got my first GPS reciever ever. A Magellan 315. Been using it already quite a bit today. Works real well, pretty darn accurate so far, locks on very quickly and have had no problems at all so far. I also am getting those strong engineering screen covers for christmas but they didn't arrive in time to get under the tree today. Same with a carrying case, either the ultimate one or a camo one off of basspro-shops.com. Not sure, person just said it was either of those but it still hasn't arrived.
  23. I went to look at their leather carrying case for the 300 series and I noticed that the hole for the antenna is on the wrong side. Anybody know what's up with this? Magellan 300 Series Leather Carrying Case
  24. Where the deer bucks? Because as most people know the rut is during the fall and this is when most deer get hit because the bucks are chasing the does right onto the roads and the buck aren't even thinking about cars, they have other things on their mind so that's probably why you seen so many running around the roads.
  25. Those mag lite ones that you twist the top to turn on. I have a couple here and it says "Mini-MagLite on it. They're about 6 inches long. Very light to carry. Seem to last forever, very tough. You can get a harness for them to put around your head. I take on with me when I go hunting. I always wait til after dark to leave the stand and you'd be surprised how much light these little things can give off. Not expensive either.
