  1. Great news! I was wondering yesterday whether they were back yet. Last year I got a great view twice of an osprey on the nesting platform near Dyfi Junction. Still trying to get over to do the cache tho!
  2. This is beautiful. The nicest design I have seen ina long while. Are there any still available and how much? Well done!!
  3. A friend (cacher) went to great trouble to acquire an ammo box for me and even delivered it to one of my local caches for me to collect. It was stolen complete with contents soon after being placed. It was very well hidden so only a cacher could have known its whereabouts. It was intended to be a TB trade point for visitors to leave/pick up TBs on their way in and out of the area; fortunately(?) only my own little Red Kite was resident at the time. All future caces will be micros
  4. I put a disposable camera in my first ever cache, in a sealable plastic bag with instructions. However by the time the film was full, the camera was so wet it was not printable, due to folks not putting the lid back on properly and SEALING the bag. Has anyone found a way round this, or would you recommend not leaving the camera in the cache until the whole film has been exposed?
  5. I'm thinking of placing a skip as a cache, and putting in it all the items I have bought over the last couple of years for placing new caches and trading as swag. So many of my caches have been muggled I am losing interest in swag and swaps now, and lining some thieving toads' pockets
  6. AHEM!! Matrix - Aber cachers are not based in South Wales. We are on the mid-west coast. Thanks for the plug anyway We welcome all visitors to our site and can arrange to meet up with any visitors who wish to discover our beautiful countryside and hunt tupperware. You can contact us via the website or our profiles on GC.com. Lampeter is not that far from our base in Aberystwyth so if you fancy a jaunt up here I would be pleased to help out if I can.
  7. Fan bloody tastic!! I particularly likes this bit of useful information : Although the speakers are waterproof, it is not advised to go swimming wearing these shoes! ROFLMAO
  8. Guess I had better get on and do it then, I seem to be surrounded!!
  9. Congratularions Art and Meg, on a very well-deserved 2 Having hit a few caches with you this year I know how hard you will have worked for them
  10. Grahams collection takes up 20 pages!!! I've just remembered to retrieve mine and then saw this thread. Thanks for the reminder anyway.
  11. YAY!! Well done Scott. All together now "Whaaa do you build me up....!
  12. Will try to get to this one, last chance for a get together before winter sets in. Making my way there by public transport so any info on buses etc from Adlington Station would be helpful. Thanks.
  13. Yep.... GCWTNY Is a MUST do cache while in the area!! I AGREE Saturday assistant in Boots, Hitchin, was my first job, started two days after my 14th birthday. I worked there for three years. Fun times
  14. {The need for a forum appears luke warm at the moment.} That's bound to happen. When Abercachers first started we had loads of visitors and activity, now it seems to have cooled off a bit but we do get the odd topic cropping up when one of us has some news or a new cache is published locally. I have looked in other forums and nothing of any consequence seems to be going on, it's just another way to chat.. which I guess is what they are for .. I don't think many of the Welsh cachers use this forum so it might be worth contacting them through their profiles to see what interest there would be.
  15. QUOTE(Eclectic Penguin @ Sep 1 2008, 09:27 PM) I don't want to jump the gun though - this is a potential Geocaching community project for Welsh cachers. I'm more than willing to invest time and the modest expense required to set any of up this (I'm even excited about it) - after all, it's what I do for a living too - but ultimately it's for the South Wales / Wales Geocaching community. Bearing in mind also that we have our colleagues on the Aberystwyth site too to consider. Quote: Absolutely, and yes I get excited and go and say things like "We can do this, and this and that..." but it will only be used if the community want it. What does the community want? End Quote Well this member of the community hasn't much idea what most of this techy stuff actually means But if you want the opinion of someone who would need to be involved please contact forcesofnature through his profile and discuss it with him. He is the owner/designer of the Aber-cachers forum and would need to be consulted on links etc to the south Wales forum and vice versa. I am all for linking the two if it keeps us all informed of events etc.. which can be a bit hit and miss if you don't read the forums on here or keep up to date through the weekly blurb from Groundspeak.
  16. I have tried four shops in different areas and no joy whatsoever! None of the places I went to have any promotional material or any idea when/.if they will be getting any coins. It seems like Wales (or this part of it anyway) is out of the picture. I would be happy to release a coin in this area if anyone has a spare they would like to send over. I did discover a Big Ben coin at the gFAB event last weekend, so thanks to the person who released that one
  17. Are psychics usually of medium build? Funny you should ask!! I know a rather large chap who visits our local spiritualist church. Whenever they call him a medium he says Thats funny my clothes all say I am XXL
  18. It sounded really funny hearing it on the radio. I have to admit it was VERY heavily edited Anyone want my autograph?
  19. I bought an ammo can specially to turn it into a TB hotel for visitors to drop off any TBs they wanted to enter or leave the area. It didn't really get as many visits as I thought it would and now somebody has nicked it!! Needless to say, with a three mile uphill cycle for maintenance, its not being replaced. Cachers loss!
  20. How much do we have to pay for those photos not to be published ? Nah - he looked very smart! Alba15 and Decci (both appropriately dressed) I never realised Dave has no legs!!
