  1. Ok, I have created the event. Hoping it gets approved, and hoping some people will want to join us. Hope it is half as good as the Utrecht event.
  2. I just found a place here in Johannesburg (Randburg) that is selling Ammo boxes for R49.00 a piece. I have ordered 5, and hope to go and pick them up sometime this coming week. Web Site http://www.packrat.co.za AmmoBox http://www.packrat.co.za/CatDsplItemList.a...20surplus%20box
  3. 3 Entries? Looks like there is a problem with the forum tonight. I kept on getting some SQL connection error, and resent to the server a few times. Looks like some of them got through, but not completely.
  4. We just got a new "Caching" mobile, and I want to take it on a bit of a drive. The Eucaliptus (GC1341) cache is just about the right distance away, and been on my "really got to get to this one list", and there seem to be a few nice caches in the surrounding area. We are planning to do this one on the weekend of the 28th Feb / 1 March, and camp there for the 1 night returning to Joburg on Sunday afternoon. Are there maybe any other cachers out there that would like to join us in Piet Retief for the weekend? If there are more then 2 or 3 teams, maybe we can make an event of it? Are there any good camp sites, in or around Piet Retief area, that can host a small group of people?
  5. I was hoping we could make it to the festival, but since we missed Xmas with family in PE, we will be going to there this coming Easter. Any bets on who is going to get the final one first?

    I spy

Hi Jors, Glider Slider, boris, capeccr. I see you also getting your geocaching 'Fix'
  7. WOW, that is a huge leap forward for us all. Congrats, and looks like you have perfect diplomacy. (Andy for precedent?)
  8. Wow, I would have bet it would be SA, or maybe at a streash one of the most northern countries, as they are easily accessible from Europa. But Kenya would not be on my guess list.
  9. The electrical motors were designed in SA?
  10. Looks like it! Should have stayed with the HTC! I have one complaint though with the HTC. I got my P3600 in May or June last year, and the batery already only lasts 3 days. When I got it, it lasted almost a week. The camera also stopped working, but after a hardware reset, is working again. (Typical Windows scenario)
  11. I feel the need to go camping agian, and maybe this one is the excuse to go. Once you guys have set a date, let this forum know. Maybe we will join you there. We wont be climbing, but while you guys do, we will do a few other caches in the area. Maybe an event could be made of it?
  12. Could we not have these added to geocaching.com? Are these not the same as the "Benchmarks"? I think there would be a greater acceptance of visiting them here, then if it were a separate we site. Either way I am still interested in assisting.
  13. Hmm.. almost two months since this thread was started, and he still has not logged all his retro logs. Should there be a cut off date? The mind was willing, but the flesh is a little slow....
  14. What is required to be built? What info do you want to see? I have web experience using Windows, PHP is a little harder for me. I can assist, but am busy with another "geocache timeline" project elsewhere.
  15. I am contemplating in creating a TB hotel. I like seeing where all the TB's come from, and have learnt a great deal of other countries, states, and areas, as well as interesting locations, because of TB's and coins. We seem to have quite a few problems here in South Africa, with caches going missing, and a TB hotel would be one way of making sure that most of them stay secure. But I would agree, a TB hotel does concentrate the TB's into spots, but it could help the TB's to quicker on their missions. Maybe it is up to the owners of these hotels to spread them out into neighbouring caches for others to find. I always have a TB with me that belongs to someone else, and try and put it into every cache we visit, and then upload some photos, for the owner to see. I have had some great feedback from owners.
  16. Welcome, hope your stay is long and exciting.
  17. Logging some finds and see the following: Antron 500, and Jokers Guild 200 Congratulations!
  18. Congrats to BlackJack Bailey on 400, Redglobe on 900, And Mouse_ZA on 60.
  19. There is the problem "telkomsa.net" I had the same problem with my father in law when he tried to register. The emails never went through to TelkomSA.net. When I changed it to my gmail account I got the validation messages fine. Changing back to telkomsa.net then still gave problems. I think he tried to chat to telkom, but they were not very helpful.
  20. A caching good Christmas to all, and a DNF free new year. May your GPSr lead you safely to the nearest cache, and may all the TBs and coins be muggle free. How many of you did a cache on Christmas day? We did one on the eve, and one on Christmas day. Lets hope we get one in on Boxing day as well.
  21. I have never before printed from IE, and had a look on my machine. In IE i get the "----- fold here ---" line, but FireFox it does not come up at all. I tried to manipulate the PDF file from FireFox, but was unable to even set up the printer to print 2 pages per sheet. I suppose Groundspeak might have two different PDF file formats. Go paperless. Once you have tried it you never go back. I had an old Palm Pilot, which was stolen (sight seeing), and then bought a colour Palm Pilot on bidorbuy for R300.00 and use the cachmate software ($5.00 i think it was). Best way to cache. Only time I use paper is with a puzzle cache.
  22. Maybe in a few years time.... time will tell....
  23. Our stats are: Traditional 82.8 % Multi 5.2 % Event 4.4 % Mystery 4.4 % Earth 2.8 % Virtual 0.4 % Mostly the reason is the phone I had, had GPS Tuner for Smartphone on it, and one could only load GPX and LOC files on it. There was no way to enter waypoints manually. So While caching for the 1st year with the phone we could almost never do multies, nor do puzzle caches. And at the time almost got to dislike them. Now that I have a better phone, and the better PPC version of the software, I am doing more and more of them.
