  1. The newspaper bags also make great doggy doot picker-uppers. put your hand in the bag, grab the dooty then turn it inside out and discard.....Dont hang it in a tree please Right off hand, I can't think of any other free items that we use...... 2. Looks like polls still aren't working....... I think it's perfectly fine using someone elses idea. If it's a really creative one, I would ask permission first. Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I would only do it in a different area though. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  3. I am only venting however....Please do not contact the cache owner!! A new cache popped up on our list, and we decided to take it on this morning. Someone had already logged the first find, but that's not a big deal. So we go to the coordinates on the cache page and end up right in the middle of the parking lot. Thinking we had the coords wrong, I came home and checked it out. Nope we had them right. So I logged a no find. I was a little confused however, when the first log states that "The coords were right on for this one". Huh? The description states it's a nice uphill trail........but we didn't even get close to the hill from the parking lot. Anyway, I logged it as a no-find, and then the cache owner changes the coords on the cache page, and rather than make a note, he changes the description to read "Bob found it with skill and perserverance". Bob would be the first finder. Do I have no skill or perseverance? I've attached a copy of the lostoutdoors.com photo with the old coords and the new ones. Blue is us......Red is Bob. Am I to believe that Bob searched the entire tree covered hill to find this cache? I checked out Bobs log list, and he also found 16 other caches that day clear over on the other side of the city approximately 1 hour away from this cache...... Here'sthe link to the cache. Again, please do not contact the owner or Bob as I have the feeling they are related. The cache owner is a newbie, 1 find, 1 hide, and refers to himself as Grandpa in the cache description. I don't want to discourage Grandpa from caching...... I did want to blow off some steam though. Thanks! 4. 4 years ago we drove into a dealer just to look at the Dodge Ram 1500............. 4 years later, we drove into a dealer just to look at the new Dodge Stratus RT....... As my dad would say........Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  5. Can you find someone to fill in for you? Just change the email address on your caches?.......... Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  6. We talked about this one before, but I'm too lazy to Markwell you. We have tested our van with our GPS and with one of those police radar trailers, and against a friends car. All showed our Speedometer was 3 MPH off. So we're assuming that the GPS is very accurate...........Now get out there and find some caches! And have fun! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  7. Congratulations to you and your parents Stimpy! Don't you hate it when your parents are so excited about Christmas that they can't wait until Christmas day to open presents? he he he!! Did you all get one GPS or two? Sounds like all of you have stumbled on a new addiction.......Happy hunting!! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  8. I'm too much in the spirit to markwell now....... I'll add though......... You know you're a Cachin'-Geek if for every car you see on the side of the highway, you think there's probably a cacher off in the woods not too far away. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  9. Welcome!! I would recommend getting a few finds under your belt before you hide one. It'll give you some ideas on how to hide and where to hide. Also hang out on the forums for a while to get to know what everyone else is doing etc. We have 30-some finds, and are just now getting comfortable enough with it to try to hide one........ Good luck! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  10. This is my first markwell! Go here............ Welcome to your newest addiction Netgeist! Have fun!!! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  11. There are times when I actually sit around waiting for someone to post..........I'm pathetic. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  12. I would like to complain about the lack of information on some people's profile page. I try my darndest to snoop into these peoples private lives and all I get is a big blank white page.........ACK!! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.

  14. With either the Geocache.com logo, or the words Geocache.com. We use one with our GPS, but the manufacturers isn't the best quality, and looks as though if you bent down and snagged it on a bush, it would come apart..........$5 ?? Would also make a great cache trade item. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  15. I would just like to clear things up on my end so that I don't look like the bad guy here...... quote: On behalf of all the non-Jeremy people who have spent the time and effort to try to make this thread a very productive and not-*too*-harsh environment for discussion, I would like to thank you for considering us all worthy of ignoring for the sole fact that we are not Jeremy. Since my thoughts apparently are not worthwhile, I will refrain from replying to the rest of your post. (My ideas are quite thoroughly documented in the many previous posts; I see no need to rehash, as you apparently don't seem to care about the rest of our ideas.) This last comment did not make sense to me. First of all, I am not the one that made this thread "too harsh". Jeremy asked for ideas......I gave mine. A simple restroom icon would be nice....that's all. It was simply an idea. Second of all......I did not say that I considered all of the other posts worthy of ignoring. I said that if you didn't like my post, you could ignore it. I read your ideas......along with everyone elses. All were very valid ideas, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how you interpretted my post as having said that I didn't care about anyone elses. Let me give you a piece of advice you can either ignore or save for future reference......... In corporate training, they discuss a thing called "mirroring". People will naturally mirror your attitude back to you. If you smile, they'll smile......if you're nasty, they'll be nasty back. Or as my 15 year old son would say......I'm pickin' up what you're throwin' down. In the future, please do not read more into my posts than what I say. I'm a simple mind with simple ideas. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  16. quote: If you had read and understood the thread, you would know that cache attributes should be things that you would use while searching, *NOT* just little pieces of pretty description. Hmmm, I guess I can't find where Jeremy said that...... quote:If you base your caching choices on the style of restroom facilities available at the various locations, you have issues that a professional could probably help you work out. While it may be interesting, especially to those with children, to note what type of restroom is at a particular location, I would have to agree that it not something that belongs as a cache attribute.. If you had "read and understood" my original post, you would notice that I did not say that I based my choices on whether there was a restroom available. Only that it would be nice to know whether I need to stop at a gas station before moving on to my next cache. Being a female, it is difficult to just whip it out and go anywhere, and don't particularly want to dig around in a bunch of leaves where others have done so..... Honestly folks! If you don't like what some people say, simply blow it off as another idiot posting...... Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  17. Did they tell you why they were handcuffing you? Is it illegal to walk through a park with a plastic bag? Sometimes the police can have what I call "duh moments". I was watching COPS the other night and they kept yelling at this guy to stand up. Unfortunately, the guy was hog tied.....hands and feet were handcuffed behind his back. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  18. Sweet!! Hidden Bridge was one that was on our list....... We thought we'd work our way up the Wisconsin side of the river and back down the Minnesota side. There's so many, that it would take us 2 or 3 days to do them all.... All of the others that were recommended sound pretty neat too........what to do? what to do? Thanks everyone!!! Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  19. Why not have it at the food shelf, and have the clerk at the food shelf hide a traditional cache there? That way everyone wins............ Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  20. The only attribute that would REALLY be handy for me would be is there a public restroom? Not all of the caches I've been to have one.. Perhaps use the state parks restroom criteria....flush, vault, seasonal restrooms? Do I need to stop at a 7-11 before I hit the park? Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  21. We'd like to give them a try! They are an unusual design........how would they hold up to Wisconsin cold? Alot of times we have deep snow, but with an icy layer on top. My 8 year old son got one of those cheep plastic toy snowboards for the hill in our backyard last year. A couple good times down the hill and then SNAP! We're wondering if the plastic just couldn't handle the extreme cold........ Ice would be an issue too.......would these turn into ski's on an icy layer? Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  22. Sometimes newbies post a question simply to introduce themselves to the forum. Many times I've seen them be rudely markwelled simply because the 'markweller' takes pleasure from this. Its a shame acutally.....Someone finds an activity they love, they get all excited, they read a lot of the forums and want to join in the comradery. With that I will say......as a newbie, at first I didn't know what the term 'markwelled' meant. I figured it out quick enough. I have to admit that it did give me a somewhat negative image of Markwell. But after spending more time here, I realized that Markwell was actually markwelling in a nice way. No rudeness there......But I do think that if Markwells name is going to be used for that purpose, then perhaps we should do it nicely as Markwell could be judged by our rude responses. By the way....is there some kind of prize available for the number of times we use a form of the word Markwell in a single post? Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  23. But it all depends on what kind of mood we're in. Some days we feel like knocking off 6 or 7 relatively simple caches. Other days we're out for a long hike and multi's tend to give you that. Although I agree..........multi's are more fun if they have a puzzle of some sort involved. I do have a question........I've seen a number of logs and forum posts where people have said they skipped steps on a multi and found the cache........how is that possible? We've only done a couple multi's and are currently working on the Mission Impossible cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=6514......I just don't see how one could complete these without doing all the steps.. Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
  24. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=6514 Check out the Mission Impossible cache in Minnesota...... Not only is the cache page fun to read, but the logs are fun as well........ 25. have people bring a photo of themselves to tack up on the wall as previous victims of the cachekiller........... Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.
