  1. Hello, Is there an online (or other) resource that lets you type in an address and then it will give you the coordinates of that address (the same type that show up on the cache pages)? TIA!!
  2. I use CacheMate for Palm, but I think they're the same in this respect. While displaying your list of caches, go to the "Srch" menu and select "Nearest Caches...". This will display a dialog box where you can enter any set of geographic coordinates. Next, you'll see another dialog box that allows you to set up some search filters. After making your selections here and clicking OK, you'll get a list of caches sorted by distance from the location you entered. When you highlight one of the entries, you'll see the distance and direction to that cache. --Larry Hmmm, I don't see any Search feature in Cachemate. I looked under the list menu and Options menu (the only 2 menus) and see no search. Where might it be located?
  3. Basically, you put the coordinates, waypoint name, and comments in proper format in Excel. Save the file as a .csv file, then upload to your GPSr using Garmin's free POI LOADER software. You can also use MapSource and save a bunch of waypoints in a .gpx file. CLICK HERE to read the definitive Custom POI thread. Thanks!!
  4. Howdy Just downloaded Cachemate for my PocketPC. So far so good! My question is, is there any way to get information stored with each cache that displays how far each one is away from your home coordinates? On geocaching.com, it will say a cache is x.y miles away from your home coordinates. I want to be able to scroll through Cachemate and find that same info while I'm out in the field. Is that possible? As far as I can tell, when you import the gpx files into Cachemate, that's one of the only tidbits of info that is missing, and it could be very useful. TIA!!
  5. 1000 waypoints, in the unit. However you can create custom Points Of Interest and store as many of those as the size of the card will allow. thanks for the quick reply! might I ask how to create custom POI's? TIA
  6. howdy again Is there a limit to the number of waypoints (caches) that the 60csx can hold? If so, is it dependent on the size of micro SD card you have? I have about 500 megabytes left on my 2GB micro card in my 60csx after I installed City Navigator. do the waypoints get stored there or on the actual device? TIA
  7. could you possibly give me an example? I'm not quite following your process here. I appreciate your help!
  8. what do you do about the radius? doesn't that get most of the same caches no matter the date? also, is that the date it was last found or when it was first created and how can you distinguish between the two?
  9. Hello, I am trying to get all of the cache pages for the Boise, Idaho area sent to me in pocket queries. There are roughly 1500 around the Boise area and I understand that the max number of entries you can have in a pocket query is 500, so I would basically need to make 3 queries of 500 each. Making the first one is not a problem. But how would I pick up where the first pocket query left off and grab the next 500 in a second pocket query, and then make a third one where the second one left off? I do not see a way to do this at all. For example, say the first 500 entries left the 500th one about 10 miles away from my home coordinates. I need the second batch of 500 to start off at the next entry after the last one from the first query and contain the next 500 entries (so hypothetically the second batch of 500 entries could start with the first one being 10.1 miles away all the way up to 25 miles away from my home coordinates, or whatever the case may be). Anyone know if this is possible? Any help would be extremely appreciated. TIA
  10. cool. got that to work. now for some reason I can't get goecaching.com to give me back any search results for my pocket query. i can go search and find 1500 caches in idaho, but when i try and create a pocket query for 100 in idaho, it says nothing is found!
  11. So Smache is showing up on my Pocket PC but whenever I tap it to open it it comes up with an error saying: "Cannot find Smache or one of its components. Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available." Any thoughts? TIA
  12. I really need help No matter what options I choose or don't choose, the pocket query comes back with absolutely no results! Can someone help me out here please? TIA
  13. there has to be a way to do this. i have the pocket pc version. i tap the Import button and then Start, and it shows all of the waypoints I have on the POcketPC but not loaded yet into Cachemate. Every time I click one, it imports it into Cachemate. But isn't there anyway to import all of them into Cachemate at once??? That will take forever clicking on each one. Help please!! TIA
  14. Are you doing it through the wizard or online at Garmin? I did that all online at Garmin and had no problems (once I finally found that right code to use!).h
  15. Hi there I just loaded up City Navigator on my 60csx. Two questions: 1) Is there a way to manually type in an address and navigate to it? 2) Is there a way to type in the name of a location, such as Best Buy, and have it find the closest ones and then navigate to one of them? I can do these things on my cell phone, so I would imagine this would be possible with the GPSr and City Navigator, I just can't seem to find that option! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Happy Holidays!!
  16. OK, I must be blind, but where exactly are the screenshots? I see a bunch of icons from the program when I follow the link that says "Click here for Smache help files and screenshots", but no full blown screens. maybe you're right...it is too late to be on here. i need sleep lol!
  17. So where is this code at? Is it on my 60csx somewhere? Ok, so I just called Garmin support. Apparently the unlock certificate is wedged in between the two pieces of "artwork" that comprises the packaging, and not in the CD jewel case. Now how in the heck are people supposed to know that? I would be curious to know how many calls that has generated!
  18. So where is this code at? Is it on my 60csx somewhere?
  19. While installing it on my PC, the wizard is asking me for either a 25 digit code or an 8 digit code. On the CD case that the City Navigator came in, there is a 10 digit serial number. What am I missing here???
  20. You don't know what slow is, until you've transfered maps over a serial connection. lol...touche!
  21. THanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately I don't have a card reader, so I guess I'll have to do this the slooooooow way
  22. Hi there So my City Navigator v8 is supposed to be delivered today. Is there anything I should know about transfering the entire content over (maybe except Hawaii and Canada) to my 60csx (I have a 2GB card)? Is it pretty straightforward? Are you able to select by state to transfer over, in case I wanted to leave some states off for the time being? TIA!
  23. Hi all There HAS to be a way to do this. I'm trying to transfer more than 1 waypoint at a time to my 60csx, but the Waypoint Manager is not letting me. Everytime I try and drag and drop multiple .loc files into the Waypoint tab, it only accepts one of them. If one is in there already and I try and drag and drop a second, the one that was in there gets replaced! I can't enter (well, don't want to) 10 waypoints 1 at a time! Any suggestions here, or are there other freeware programs that are better for transferring multiple waypoints to your GPSr? TIA!
