  1. 2000 Subaru 2.5 RS, Brake booster support, Custom designed forced air intake, Underdrive pulley, Customed designed and handmade undercarriage guards, High flow fuel pump, Intake fuel pressure riser, Custom honed and ported intake manifold, 20 mm rear anti sway bar, custom add on air bags for added height when needed. Gets good mileage, gets me there faster then most and I have passed more pick-up trucks and 4 wheel drive vehicles stuck on hills that I drove right up then I count. In the snow I make 4x4's look like they are standing still.
  2. 0.9 miles. I have been getting all the further away caches out of the way. Figuring with winter coming I can hit the closer ones and hopefully still have daylight. Besides I know my area pretty well. I like to get further away and explore places I've never been.
  3. My take is if the TB gets moved hundreds of miles awway and you don't want to or can't travel to get it and want to get the cache just email the owner and explain it to him/her and I'm sure there are ways around it. Were all in this sport to have a good time and we all want the others to enjoy our caches that's why we hide them in the first place.
  4. Ammo boxes are excellent when you have the space and locale to hide them. Alot of times it is hard to find a suitable hiding spot in urban areas. What I have done recently is use different sizes of empty vitamin or over the counter pill bottles. What I do is remove the normal paper gasket inside the cap and cut a circular piece of rubber from and Bicycle innertube. Then I put rubber cement on both pieces let it sit for a few minutes and press them together. Then I gently screw on the cap till I feel it seat and let it sit that way for an hour or so. Then I just take off the cap let it finish drying and voila. Instant rubber sealed container. I still have one that I made filled with rocks in a bucket of water. It has been there two weeks now and no leakage what so ever. Again if isn't closed well enough leakage is possible. Easy to camo tape, the bottle cost me nothing since I needed the vitamins or medicine anyways and even if I had to buy a bicycle tube for the amount of uses I get it is next to nothing. Now I have just about any container size I want. They will never be as big as an ammo box and true the mouth can make it a little difficult to the contents out however it is still alot easier then fumbling with some of the mircos I've run across. Just my 2 cents
  5. Airmapper, Thanks for the feedback and yes I do use GSAK and love it for orginization of caches. It would be nice to create routes using Mapcreate just because of the finer detail and learning the lay of the land as I'm creating the routes. I'm sure I can work around it. The waypoint symbols I'm refering are the new Geocahce specific ones available in the Expedition C and GSAK has the functionality to tie these to the various caches so I can create a .USR file reflecting the cache specific symbols. Just a pet peeve I guess. Thanks P.S. Joined the Lowrance users forum today.
  6. Yeah I agree that the software to the Expedition C conversion is lousy. I love the new waypoint markers for Geocaching however when I load that data to Mapcreate I just get the stupid blue and white box marker. Then if I load it back onto the card and pick that .usr file on the Expedition C that is what shows up. What a dumb thing to do. What is the purpose of having these nice Waypoint marker icons if you can't manipulate them in the Mapcreate software. I think they either need to upadte the Mapcreate software or create and addendum for Geocaching. Just my 2 cents.
  7. Sportrak Map Lowrance Expedition C (just recieved it Friday)
  8. I just ordered and received 3 days later a new Expedition C plus package from TigerGPS. The Mapcreate package says series 6. After installing it if I look at the "Help" "about Mapcreate" it shows it as 6.3.282. Did you look at the about Mapcreate to see what the actual version is that you have?
  9. Fisher space pens are available in a couple different sizes. I have a micro Space pen and the beauty of it is that you can write on just about anything. Especially damp or wet logs. Not mention underwater or on oil soaked paper even. Yes I have written on both as well as birch bark when the log was missing and that was all I could find. You can find them on the net. Yes they are more expensive however you pay for what you get. As far as losing it, I haven't lost it yet and I have had it for 7 years. The one I have had no pocket clip so I took the pocket clip of off a pentel mechanical pencil and slipped it on. It hasn't moved or came off yet. Just my two cents. Happy caching
  10. Magellan Sportrak map First GPS unit and was a package deal from Bass Pro shops. First time using it for geocaching this evening and seemed to work fine. Was a little dificult when standing still. Would seem to hunt a little. Did work work and did find all the caches I was looking for.
