For me it depends on where i am at. My longest was about an hour. The cache was over 100 miles away in the middle of the mojave desert. It has 11 finds since Jan. 2003. For the ones closer to home I just leave and get my wife. She will usually see what i can't in about 5 minutes.

So, Can I still log it as a find if my dog found it?

I was thinking of this method. Could you possibly change the container to something resembling a small animal.

GSAK is definately the way to go. I've had it about a month and am still learning new tricks. Right now i have it set up so my 60cx shows the code, the type, the difficulty level, what type of container, whether or not the coordinates have been corrected (for puzzle caches), and as much of the name as i can get after all that. I don't know how i ever lived without it.

Thanks for the help. I didn't realize that the pocket query did not include archived caches. I did finally figure out to use the gpx date.

I am having a problem when updating a database in gsak with a PQ. Newly archived caches are not being changed in the database. The only thing checked in the PQ is "caches i haven't found." This caused quite a bit of searching for caches that were not available. Thanks for any help.

I only have one FTF so far, and have a question relating to being first. Do you log your find ASAP or do you wait a little to throw others off?

My 6 year old son just refers to it as the geocacher.

Does anybody have an etrex legend that doesn't work, but the shell is in good shape? Fell and cracked the face and Garmin wants more money than a new one to repair. Thanks.
