  1. SOMEbody has a whole lot of ISO files hidden on their computer.
  2. Ski Hills show the POI icon for waterskiing as opposed to downhill skiing.
  3. ah. nvm. the forum time is not set properly. i'm seeing that post as being at 2:56 and its now 6:52 here. I'll fix that.
  4. How about an update to the Map name, so that it at least appears as Ibycus' Topo, instead of just "topo" when selecting mapsets on the GPSr. And then, how about an update that causes a massive punching glove to fly out of my monitor and hit me in the face every time I go to post to this forum?
  5. One more. Provincial Parks read as State Parks.
  6. Can that possibly be all power lines over High Level? Navaids in the middle of Calgary? No Provincial Borders with maps? I'm also seeing some dirt roads showing as alleys? Specifically within the Cypress Hills SE of Medicine Hat.
  7. I also just noticed that all POI's, though they have the correct icon, are all labelled as "Unknown". Is there any way you can default their titles based on type, instead of just saying "Unknown"? I should also add (instead of always criticizing) that I REALLY like what you're doing here. I'm beginning to regret my purchase of Mapsource Topo, as this has much more of the useful things, like trails. Thanks alot. BTW, I didn't see you at the Alberta GeocoinFest. I was hoping to meet you. Maybe some other time.
  8. Just figured it out... Had a look at Medicine Hat, its one of the squares I'm missing. For some reason it didn't upload to the compiler website. As soon as I can figure out how to script the upload of updates, I'll be uploading a new version of all of 082 and 083. THis actually appears to be a case in pretty well all the maps within the installer that I used. I'm seeing this behavior within 052, 072, 082, 083, and 084. The Below images show what I see. In the First image, both screens span 072, 082, and 083. The Second image shows 084 over High Level, AB in the first screen on the left, and 052 over Dryden, ON on the second screen on the right.
  9. There's no topo info over cities?
  10. i just noticed the same thing too. a fix would be nice.
  11. Yea, I actually have the copy of Travel Alberta that has the article in it. The issue came out back in like February or so.
  12. More and more people are moving to larger, widescreen monitors, yet the Goodies have few widescreen images, and all are in a rather small size. I know not everyone has a 27 inch widescreen monitor (like me) but even the more common 24 inch monitors have a native resolution of 1920 x 1200. Perhaps it's time for change?
  13. How about icons for Mega Events and Benchmarks?
  14. Another Local Group for Alberta: Geocaching Alberta South
  15. View your cache pages while you have an active wi-fi connection. This will cause your images to be viewable, and then store them in you PPC's offline cache for viewing in the field.
  16. The images included in the GPX files are in fact picture links. If you take a look at the cache pages within GPXSonar while you have an active wi-fi connection, the pictures should show up and store themselves within you PPC's cache for offline viewing.
  17. After reading this topic a bit further, I noticed a common error that I would like to clear up. In reality, there are three norths, True North, Magnetic North, and Grid North. True North - the earth spins on an axis which passes throught the North and South pole. The geographic north pole or True North is located at the top of the earth where the lines of longitude converge. Grid North - is the north indicated by grid lines on a topographical map. Because Eastings (The lines on a map that I'm surer most of you mistake for lines of longitude) are exactly parallell to each other, they will never converge at the north pole, therefore they are pointing slightly off true north. Magnetic North - is where a magnetic compass needle points. I would suggest that most of read this section of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets Reference Book.
  18. I always use True North. As an Army Cadet of six years, and always using a map and compass, I understand that the differnce between True and Magnetic North can be huge. I also understand that that's why you ALWAYS set the declination on your compass before you set out. This can normally be found on your map. Once properly declinated, your compass points you to True North, so why not use the same on your GPSr? Mind you, as far as Geocaching is concerned, it shouldn't make that much of a difference. All it'll really change is the bearing that your GPSr gives you, but it will still take you to the coordinates. And if you need to know your bearing for a puzzle or letterbox cache, with the relatively short distances that you will travel, which North you are using short be insignificant.
