  1. Thanks--sent them a message and it worked...and the answer is that they are hoping to have it the last weekend in June, assuming they can get enough volunteers, etc. Fingers crossed!
  2. I took a break for a few years (health-related) but am back now and was hoping to do the caching event in South Lake Tahoe. I used to live there and LOVED those events. They were hosted by Geoteaming, but I just spoke with John Chen and he said they aren't involved anymore. He said The 4Woodys were taking it over, but have nothing planned (except maybe a meet and greet.) Does anyone know if there will be something this year? Or can one of the potential organizers contact me? Thanks bunches!
  3. It only asks you if it's set to "spanner" mode. In other modes, it won't connect at all, in yet other modes, it will connect right away. The setting is in Setup>General (or is that called System?). Set it to Garmin Serial and you're gonna be fine. Okay, it was set correctly and I found the waypoints I had loaded (apparently several times!), but how can I save them as geocaches? It's for a geoteaming event where I live and only a few will survive the weekend to become actual caches. But it'd be hard to play without the hints. I kind of miss my old, basic Magellan Explorist. And I tried to open the files while attached to the computer and can't even find my cache log! Thanks for any help...
  4. Hi, I have the Oregon 550T--I connected it like you told the last person, but it doesn't ask me if I want mass storage! I don't know where my manual is--is there something I'm doing wrong with this model? Thanks...
  5. I tried that...it's been temporarily archived.
  6. Good idea...I inadvertently destroyed a TB (house fire) and when I couldn't get any response after several months from the owner, I had Eartha list it as lost and remove it from my inventory list. Thanks Eartha!! (If you're not sure how to get to her, go to her profile and click on send message...or you can look in the forum posts for one of her posts and click on her name)
  7. Yep. Send an email to the TB forum Mod Eartha and she'll move it out of your inventory for you. Thanks for the suggestion...sent the e-mail, but haven't gotten any response and the TB is still in my inventory. Any other ideas?
  8. Sooo, on the same topic, but from the other side...I had a TB a couple of years ago and fully intended to move it along. But nature interfered and we had the Lake Tahoe Angora Fire 2 years ago ...for some reason, the TB was not among the very few possessions I chose to rescue in the 20 minutes I had. The pets, the computer, pictures and camera equipment, yes, but not even the GPS receiver made the cut (yes, the whole house is but a memory)!! I e-mailed the owner to log it as lost, but he never did so and has now become inactive. Is there a way to get the #$%#&( thing off my inventory? The TB graveyard seems to be locked down and is not accepting more lost/ dead TBs. Any ideas??
  9. I am new to the game, but I like it for the challenge and finding new places I didn't know about in my area, but mostly, I sometimes need an excuse/reason to get out and go for a hike. Just going out on a 2 mile hike isn't always attractive, but if I have a goal of something more than reaching the destination, like finding a cache, I'm more likely to get up and go!!
