  1. No. You can use many different programs (EXCEPT POI Loader) to send waypoints to your units internal memory, where you can access them via the Geocaching feature. Correct Using the POIs as a place to store waypoints is a great way to store massive numbers of waypoints in an organized fashion. If you set that thought aside for a minute....you could load the 500 caches closest to your home and the 500 caches closest to your work all together in the unit's main memory, again, being able to access them through the Geocaching feature of your unit. If that's not enough and you really need or want to carry more, you can use POI, but you'll lose the ability to use the specific Geocaching functionality when doing so.
  2. If you visit the GSAK Forums, specifically the Getting Started section, you'll find topics like "GSAK 101" etc. which are recommended reading for all those getting started with GSAK. If you then need help with a specific issue, there are many folks there who will be happy to help you.
  3. GSAK is an excellent tool, but if you'd still like an answer to your original question, you may want to visit the EasyGPS Support Forum.
  4. Since you loaded them into your unit using POILoader, they are exactly where you would expect them to be.....in Custom Points of Interest. If you wanted them loaded as regular waypoints, you could have sent them to your unit's internal memory directly from EasyGPS.
  5. I'd definitely support this change.
  6. I don't think your gps should be in 'Mass Storage' mode in order to properly interface with EasyGPS. When in that mode, the gps wants the computer to interface with the removable card (fine for Mapsource loading maps) not the internal memory which is where waypoints/routes/tracks are stored (and where EasyGPS is looking to make a connection). Leave your gps connected, but press the power button twice, which will take you out of 'Mass Storage mode', then try EasyGPS again. *edited to fix typo
  7. If you mean this stat bar: It's not currently possible. Jeremy and team would have to add this functionality in order for this to work.
  8. You can download waypoints, routes to your Legend (I'm not sure about tracks), but it will not transfer the actual maps to the Legend.
  9. Embra, thanks for the further clarifications and updates on my comments. Lets see if I have it right now: Magellan software comes with a single unlock code You can install the software to more than one computer (desktop/laptop, etc.) You cannot install maps to two different gps units from the same computer because you can't install the same application to the same computer twice It might be possible to install two different mapping products to two different gps units from the same computer (one type per specific unit), but this had not been definitively confirmed The dying computer=new unlock code purchase was off-base. One would hope Magellan would help out in this situation, but there is no clear published answer to this situation Did I miss anything?
  10. It's worse than you think...not only two T3Ds, but also two computers. Magellan's one GPS/one computer/one software program copy-protection arrangement is the most adle-brained scheme I've have the misfortune to witness. I had a father who bought his family of 4 their own GPS/DirectRoute packages note his frustration (note: this is known to be the situation with the newest MapSend DirectRoute, and I *presume* it to be so for T3D, although I must confess I've not heard this verified from anyone yet). If you can find v1.0 of T3D (the version that comes on CD), you can run both GPS units off the same computer...and, for that matter, you can get by with a single copy of the program, although it would be a violation of the EULA. Bold emphasis added by me. Admittedly my statements were based on information that I myself read in other postings, but for now, I'm sticking by it. I've seen many posts by embra in regards to Magellan products and services, and consider him to be one of the resident Magellan 'gurus' on these boards. I also know if the info is incorrect, it certainly wasn't a lie, but rather a mistake. Also, notice similar experiences by other users. Until you're post, I've never seen this assertion challenged or seen anyone explain how to (legally) get around this odd restriction. For now, I'm standing by my previous comments.
  11. A Premium Membership ($3/month or $30/year) will give you access to Pocket Queries. Pocket Queries allow you to get up to 500 caches at a time, and allow you to apply specific criteria to help you get just the ones you're interested in, and exclude the ones that you're not.
  12. It's on the list to be up for sale with my Legend (and the cable to connect them)...Don't want to have to explain why I need to carry two pda's to my wife , and don't want to actually do it, even if she said it was ok.
  13. Be careful....not only does Magellan have a similar set-up, they actually tie your gps unit and software to a single computer, so if your computer dies and you replace it, guess what.....you're going to need to buy another unlock code. You correctly explained Garmin's policy as I understand it and I don't have a problem with it. If you sold your existing software/gps/unlock code to someone else, they would be able to use it. Again, not possible with locked Magellan products (unless you threw in your computer too).
  14. From the Pc-Mobile web site: The palm website and unit documentation also state that the E2 "Uses a USB synch cable", so how do I use a normal serial cable to connect to this pda?? I understand that USB is not an option between the two, which is why the BT adapter was being discussed.
  15. I guess I'll have to do without a connection between my current devices then (not a huge deal) since my gps needs to use a 'serial' interface for waypoint/route/track data and my current pda doesn't have serial capabilities. If the only thing I can do with the BT adapter is use it for pda navigation, I don't see the point, since I don't know of anything I'd do with the pda that I can't do with the standalone gps. At least I still have some $$ in my pocket for a different toy now....wonder what will it be??
  16. These are called "Unknown" under the cache type list on the Pocket Query page.
  17. The Garmin 60 and 76 series can be set to NMEA in/out, so I think it probably would work. I'm more interested in using the connection to send new/different waypoint sets to the gps than I am in using the pda for navigation, so an additional bluetooth gps doesn't suit my needs. My single experience with Pc-Mobile was a good one, but with their website not giving a clear answer on this, and their no return policy, it wouldn't be fair of me to expect them to take this back if it wasn't compatible. I'm hoping someone else took the $50.00 risk and can give some assurances. Maybe they'd 'loan' me one so I could test it for them, then they would know for sure and could promote it as such if indeed it does work.
  18. I've only been able to find one example of this type of device online, and it's from Pc-Mobile. This particular one uses the serial connection (round, 4-pin) on the 60 and 76 series units. I have a cable from them that I used to connect my Legend to my m125, and it worked fine, but I'd like to actually find someone who's used this new setup successfully before I order one. From the Pc-Mobile site: The bold emphasis is added by my, and is my biggest concern in ordering because they have a "No refund for any reason" policy. They will replace defective merchandise, but if it simply turns up uncompatible, and isn't actually defective, I'm stuck with a useless (to me) item.
  19. When I went browsing for a cable to connect my 76CSx to my Tungsten E2, I learned that there wasn't one because the Tungsten E2 (plain E also?) doesn't have a 'serial' connection, so the interface protocol won't work. The recommended solution was a Bluetooth adapter for the gps, which the pda can then see and interface with. I haven't actually purchased one yet, but it looks like that will be my only option to connect these two devices.
  20. Filtering by attribute would be much more attractive (and probably used alot more) if they actually worked properly in PQs. Why use a 'feature' if you can't rely on the results?
  21. Find --> Waypoints --> Menu --> Delete --> All Symbols --> Yes
  22. You could also create one or two caches that the signs would indicate, but would not be listed online. You could put a couple goodies inside, but perhaps more detailed info than the standard stashnote, with info on finding gc.com and tracking down the rest of the caches in the park using the site.
  23. In the CacheMate export window, make sure "Yes" is checked under the "Include additional child waypoints" options.
