  1. It is important to remember that lack of logins does not equal inactivity. Logs made using an app do not show up as logged in. Whenever you suspect an inactive member due to their last login date, go to their profile and check their hides/finds for recent activity. That is a much better indicator, but requires more effort.
  2. I'm pretty sure Amazon's tablets don't have GPS, so it probably wouldn't be very useful if you found a way.
  3. Sure. Automatic visiting should be discouraged, and you already know nothing is going to fit in a nano and nearly nothing in a micro. A small will depend on the specifics. At any rate, you know (or should) before you get to the cache whether it's likely to support the trackables in your inventory. Use your limited visits judiciously. Two months? You seriously couldn't find a place it would fit for two months? I understood the preferred time limit is two WEEKS, unless you get special permission.
  4. Dipping isn't the problem. Properly done it is an excellent way to show where a traveler has been. The problem is cachers who hang on to travelers for extended periods (months) while dipping them everywhere they go. No thought given to helping the mission or letting someone else enjoy the piece. I wouldn't object to a restriction that you may only dip other peoples items a limited number of times (perhaps 5), and none after two weeks of holding it. After that you should be dropping anything you have, unless you have the TO's permission. For your own stuff, dip to your heart's content.
  5. I'm not sure "conscientious" is the word I'd use. I know of at least one app that allows users to automatically log a visit to every cache logged on anything/everything in their inventory. Zero effort required by the visiting cacher.
  6. In my area there are several groups that have a monthly dinner (or other meal) get together. It is rare for there to be new caches for the event, except the occasional couple of delayed publications to give FTF as a door prize. They go live within a couple of days (usually the next day) and are just ordinary caches after that. Sometimes the prize is naming rights instead of FTF.
  7. I was seeing the same as kunarion, but right now everything is OK. Currently seeing WEB04.
  8. Chrome on Win7: After the login screen (which appears as usual), I get a (nearly) text only (with hyperlinks) page, with just my avatar among the profile items, and the small "geocaching" graphic from the left of the menu bar. The map looks OK, and cache pages so far (only checked a couple) look OK.
  9. How about the Metro Gathering in New Jersey? http://www.geocachin...02-00bc7f80727d This will be the second year.
  10. You're right. I had thought of that, then found the previous thread and over thought. Off to the help center. Thanks.
  11. Well, it's not a one time thing, as I didn't get one this week either. I did e-mail Jayme H, the Lackey who helped clear up the mess last time. Haven't heard anything yet.
  12. Thank you everyone for replying. Hopefully it was a one time thing.
  13. Nothing in the Outlook spam folder. Last newsletter was on 9 June. I like to see the new nearby caches & events, although I also run a weekly PQ for new stuff. Just checking in case things have gone south again.
  14. Was there a newsletter this week? I didn't get it. First time since the Comcast mess a while back.
  15. The best way to meet other cachers is to attend events. If you sign up for the weekly newsletter, it lists upcoming events near you, and includes a link to a more extensive list. As a premium member, you can set up a notification to find out about events up to 50 miles from your location when they are published.
  16. You can also go to the Event Calendar https://www.geocaching.com/calendar/ (under the Community tab on the website).
  17. We had a couple of issues to work out. The change was actually rolled out earlier today. Thanks. My last notification was yesterday, so I'll keep an eye out next time.
  18. I have received several event notifications since this release and they all still have the published date instead of the event date. Win 7 & Chrome.
  19. Caution: Just because a CO hasn't "logged in" recently doesn't mean they're inactive. It is quite common for phone users' log ins to not register on their profile. Go to their cache activity to check. If they are still playing, their finds & hides will reflect that.
  20. They had that today at MEtroGAthering (GC56TP7) Mega in New Jersey. In the adult group, one of the last entrants threw the can "hammer toss" style and he sent it far enough to come in second, but it burst open when it hit the ground and the contents flew everywhere. Fortunately the can was not damaged and they could finish.
  21. I thought it might be that type of item, but I don't think I've ever seen a foldable one. Thanks.
  22. Being moderately vertically challenged, I'd be interested in links to any such tools.
  23. If I may piggyback a question, do the Oregon 6xx series support personal cache notes from Pocket Queries? I often make a list of caches I want to seek, but don't have room for a lot of detail. Having them on the GPS would be a great help.
  24. How do you lock the screen? I don't remember seeing that, and wanting it for the same reason as you.
