  1. It might be that the cache was archived which is why you don't see it on the map. Sometimes the logbook will have the cache name or GC code on it and you can search for archived caches if you have that. But look at it this way, it introduced you to a new pastime and since you already like to hike it's a no brainer!
  2. Please read the post above yours. I voted before I read the post about it going back. I would LOVE to know what the reasoning behind removing it was. And where is the "I don't want your social media links on my cache page" voting page
  3. The only place I can think of that might have some stuff would be REI in SOHO. http://www.rei.com/stores/142 Here is what they carry http://www.rei.com/category/1/q/Geocaching Most of us order stuff online. Or at events if a vendor comes.
  4. All good this morning, and the lost one is back and downloadable too Thanks!
  5. I went to download a PQ that ran today, and when I clicked it told me it was no longer available and now it's gone. Weird. It's not that important, just a weekly one that I keep updated but thought I'd mention it. Going to report at that other site too. ETA I am the 12th person reporting this on the other site
  6. Just remember to turn it off when you are done. Chirp eats batteries for a snack.
  7. Most of the caches themselves are either ammo cans or tupperware in the woods, nothing really exciting there. It's almost always about the experience. One of my DNF's comes to mind. A tough hike, very rocky and steep. When it flattened I looked up to see a fantastic view of Boston. I felt like it was a Wizard of Oz moment when they finally see the Emerald City. Couldn't find the cache (it was in fact missing) but really enjoyed it anyway.
  8. Yet. Well I just got home and it's there now. It said it ran a 01:53:15 which was earlier then the other 3 but it must have gotten lost in cyberspace
  9. Only 3 of my 4 ran this morning. Just an FYI, not earth shattering or anything. Anyone else?
  10. Hey antully, I added you to my geocaching circle. You are in MA? I go there a few times a year on business. Are you going to the Watertown event on the 26th? I need to go to my site there so making plans to include that event.
  11. Jay, send me a PM with your email. Personally, the only upside I can see of it is that I can access it at work (for now till the internet police cut it off)
  12. Found these in Watkins Glen after GWIX The cache page said they couldn't see their pictures once they got home. Spooky Tombstone Watkins Glen Famous #1 Apparently this was someone on the Titanic. I didn't watch the movie since I knew how it ended.
  13. , I've gotten in cars, met strangers in the woods to hunt a cache of theirs that I'd DNF'ed, gone into tunnels and caves with people I'd just met, on trails with steep drop offs and probably many other things one would tell a child never to do! But hey, you could get robbed at the convenience store too. You can't stay home and pull the shades because of a few unsavory characters. Like you said, bad caching karma to whomever did that! They'd best wear gaiters and gloves and cover themselves in Permethrin if there is such a thing as karma. Not only did they cost the company money but there were a lot of people depending on that service who were disappointed!
  14. Someone said they had an expensive piece of their equipment stolen (a repeater I think) which is why the service was so poor. Disturbed that would happen at a caching event
  15. Meetup Rock Climbing Group
  16. I don't like ticks, or poisonous snakes, or poison ivy but I don't get anxious about them. If I could see Flicker at work I might get anxious about a humongous spider. I get anxious occasionally when alone in the woods. Could be I see a homeless person(s) camp or get myself into a situation where I could potentially hurt myself and have no cell phone signal. I think to myself, this was not an especially bright move on my part coming out here alone. Then my heart beats rapidly till I get out of harms way. Briansnat coulda fooled me with the caves, you were all cool and calm in there!
  17. I don't really set goals for caching, but my intention is to have a good time in my leisure time and if it's not fun I don't do it and I surely did meet that goal. It was great meeting so many new people. And every where I turned I saw someone from our great Tri-State caching community. I guess it being driving distance helped a lot of us get out there but dang, I sure do know a lot of people! Anyway if I run into any of you that I met and I can't remember your name, don't take it personally. It's just the old CRS kicking in.
  18. An enjoyable time had here too! Did I meet you SunbeamBatteries? I think I did one of your caches on the way home. Met SO many people and I have a huge bag of pathtags I traded for. I did the AGT Warren county requirement for the coin and just doing those 6 caches took me all over the area. One of them was where the Spongebob series was but I didn't have time for it. I was pleased with the facilities, plenty of parking and plenty of restrooms, places to sit if you wanted and no end of places to spend $$. And I never felt crowded, which is good because I am not a fan of crowds. Not to mention all the other events during the weekend. From the Mama's breakfast to the train ride, the meet and greet, anniversary, coin event and beach event. Only one I didn't make was the ball game, was busy spelunking
  19. Actually, Packanack and the OP there are people who do just that. In fact there was an event held recently. You might look into contacting some of the people who ran it /attended it. Hanging Around Whitestone
  20. It's cleared up for me as well. Probably something the firewall gang here at work was trying to do and messed up
  21. I looked at the feedback site but don't see it. They show with red X's through them on two browsers here.
  22. Where do you live that you can get a soda out of the machine for two bits????? Next you'll tell us that gas is $1.29 a gallon!
  23. Hey Dog, have you created a Feedback post on this? I'd vote on it, were it will rise to the top, have a Lakey post that is a priority issue, and then be ignored for eight months while souvenirs and transparent backgrounds are introduced. Yours Truly, Cat Seriously, you have suggested this many time in these forums, but except for the release upate threads, they aren't hearing you. I will vote for it to, let me know. Meow
