  1. Power trail on 441, the GRIM series. It's still growing, but here's a bookmark to quite a few of them. Just did 88 of them on Thursday. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...4b-ef01c6db354f
  2. Started out using our Garmin Nuvi 350, then upgraded to Garmin GPSMAPS 60Csx. Use C:geo on the Moto Droid on the fly and just got a GPSMAP 62st, which I really, really love so far!
  3. It's always fun to run into fellow cachers and join forces for the hunt! We live in a smallish geographical area, so we run into cachers quite often. It's funny to see how the conversation runs!
  4. Even my GPSr is not always accurate. So many variables. You will develop a sense (geosense!) over time of the right place to look! Although sometimes I look at my GPSr like it should find it for me!
  5. If you use GSAK and have a separate database for your finds, just click on "last found", and it will order your caches in order found. Good fun looking back, even though it's only been a couple of years for us!
  6. I log DNFs if we searched and couldn't find. If we got to the area and there were muggles present so we didn't search, then I log a note stating we'd try again at a quieter time. Part of the team refuses to search in front of muggles.
  7. Done and happy to see I fall in the current majority 41-50. Interesting but, then again, I'm a gadget geek...
  8. Yep, I join the club of having a spouse who is a fair weather cacher. Likes the hikes, but that's about it. He grumbles at micros, but funny thing is he usually finds 'em! 14 year-old son grumbles too, but I drag him along anyway.
  9. Oh I'd rather be caching then so many things! But unfortunately I have to work, keep the household, make the dinner, etc. Sneak in the odd cache or two when possible. Love the hiking and seeing new places that were right under my nose all the time. Love the comraderie of cachers in our area, especially the good-natured teasing. I've been caching a littler over a year and see it lasting a long time. I wish my family enjoyed it as much as I do. Wonders how many of us have family members not so enthusiastic about caching? Wonders why I got the bug and my husband didn't?
  10. If you click on your user name on the top right of the screen, you'll get to "my account details" and you will see a link on the right side of the page under your stat bar called "update your home coordinates". Just add your home coordinates, and you should be all set. Good luck!
  11. Heard about geocaching online about five years ago, but did pursue. We got our first GPSr a little over two years ago, and I got interested in geocaching. Joined the site, but never quite had the time or motivation to try caching until this past April. That's the thing though, isn't? Once you try it you're hooked! Funny thing is that our son, now 13, was moaning about having to go for a walk on the beach (we life on Cape Cod). I suggested to my husband we try a geocache. He was game and we explained what it was to our son. DS was excited. You should have seen us trying to use Nuvi to navigate. We had no clue one could enter coordinates, so we just went to the satellite screen to follow the current coordinate around until we got near the cache coordinates. I'm really surpised we found the cache! We had fun anyway, and most importantly, our son didn't complain about the 2 or so miles we marched around trying to find the cache. I've turned some friends and relatives on to geocachinig now. How cool is it that this hobby of ours brings us to places we've lived near forever and never explored!!
  12. We've been using a nuvi 350 and are still newbies to caching. We want to get a decent handheld. Nuvi works fine, but definitely isn't ergonomic and no case. Also battery life is dodgy -- could have been stranded on a recent multicache, but luckily where near a road when it died. Suggestions for a handheld are welcome -- price range $200 - $300 would be best. Good Christmas present to ourselves
