What the Heck ? Now Garmin says the g2 Bluecharts are "RECALLED" ???? http://www8.garmin.com/bluechartrecall/ Being replaced with the old regular Bluecharts 2008.5 which were issued in July of 2008. So the charts I would be using will be a year old. Not so good when being used for Waterway Navigation. Well... at least the old regular Bluecharts can be used with Mapsource. I wonder what Garmin is going to do next ? I have a 400c that has the g2 Bluecharts Coastal pre-installed.

I am trying to figure out how to display the tide tables on a 400c. When I go to the "Where To" buttoit brings up another button for "Tides". When I hit that it gives me location that are near me. When I chose one of those, it just brings up the chart of that specific area and does not display the tide info or give me the option to display the tides. Can anyone help me find the actual tide table ? Thanks

Does anyone know how to get to the Diagnostic Screen/Mode on a Garmin StreetPilot 7200/7500 ? I know there is a diagnostic screen for many other Garmion models and I would think that there is a way to get to it on the 7200/7500 too. I have tried some of the methods which work for other models, but they seem to differ based on the model. Thanks

First, make sure it is updated to the most recent formware. And you know it does not have maps preloaded on it right ? You will need to load whatever maps you want on it. But before loading any maps/charts, get yourself a Micro-SD card of at least 2GB in size to load the maps/charts on to it. I also suggest reading thru the many very informative posts on this forum... the people here are very knowledgable AND helpful. Just be polite and ask your questions...... Have fun !

I have read some reports from users that the routing in the latest City Nav Maps v2010 have been a little screwy for them. Others say it works fine for them. I have also loaded the CNNANT 2010.1 maps on my 2739 and DO notice some different routing than I had with the 2009.1 maps. Is the actual software routing engine algorithyms etc hidden amongst the map data/program somewhere? Is there an "New" mapping logic program in each update... OR... is it just the maps themselves which are causing the "firmware" routing engine to send us different ways ? It seems like everytime we have a new update of the maps, someone experiences some routing changes. Some for the better and some for the worse.

Looking at the video you posted it shows a daylight readable screen. Of course we don't know if that's with or without the backlight on. If it's without, I'd say they really did find a way of improving the screen. Is the youtube video the only one out there right now ? I just got the 400t and have not had it outside..... is that what the 400t looks like too ? From the few minutes I have had it, I haven't had it outside, so I can't say what it looks like. I will say... that the scrren was much easier to read when I kept the backlight on all the time. It much worse than my 76CSx as far as the screen readablility.

Kinetic27, I am in exactly the same situation. I just picked up a 400t from REI also. I read that the new 550t is not due out until July or so..... Do we return the 400t or keep it since it a ppretty good price with the rebate. But although price is important... I would be willing to pay more for a better, more readable screen. I wish we could get some preliminary review of the screen readability from someone who got their hands on a unit for testing or review prior to it's availablity for sale to the general public. What if we return the units to the store and later find that the 550t really does not have a better screen ? Yes... there a few other "improvements" I like, particularly the Faster USB, but would that alone make it worth another $100-200 over and above the 400t ? I don't think so. What do all you other 400t owners and prospective owners think ?

Per the comparison above, of the 400t & 550t, the Display Resolution is still the same I wonder what they did to improve screen visibilty? Shows built in memory as 850MB which is less than the 400t. Waypoint storage has gone from 1,000 to 2,000, Route storage has gone from 50 to 200, and Track Log storage has gone from 20 to 200. Have any of these stated stroage capacities aleady been increased on the 400t from software updates? eaparks, I noticed the memory statement too... but on that comparison screen it shows 850MB as the meory for the 400t as well.... and we both know that is wrong ( it's 4GB factory installed). I believe Garmin has been stating the amount of FREE memory after the maps/charts etc are loaded. Since they both show 850MB, I suspect that 550t really has the same 4GB as the 400t. But I do wonder where all the other increases have come from.... some sort of new software/firmware or perhaps the meory is MORE than 400t and has been held in reserve for the additonal items. Oddly... the specs for the regular 550 that come without any maps pre-loaded also shows 850MB of memory. So I think something is not accurate.

I'd be VERY curious to know jusy how much "better" or more "Enhanced" the screen is over the 400. The 400 is a little hard to read.... but leavin gthe backlight on does help, but sucks the life out of the battery quicker. ANyone who takes the pluge for the 500, please post here you opinion and pics if you have them.

I hope everyone sent off an email to Garmin expressing their opinions and review and discoveries of v 3.90. Let them know we're not happy with the loss of our differential signal indicators !

PDOP'S & MM, Thanks ! Now thaat I think about it, the 76CSx really has little to no "internal" memory and all the maps/charts are stored on the Memory Card. But it's still a 2GB 2025 segment limit even with a 4GB card ?

I have a 76CSx and wanted to re-load CNNA and Bluecharts on it. Please refresh my memory on how to load BOTH of them on the 76CSx. Do I have to use Mapsource and the "Map Tool" to select All CNNA and then select all of the Bluecharts and then transfer to the GPS ? Will it be too large to go onto the 76CSx? Or can I use map tool and select all of the CNNA and then a couple of regions of the Bluecharts? Or... can I load all one of them on the unit and the other on the memory card ? And what is the easiest method to load onto the card ? Can I just copy the img to the unit or the card or does it have to be done using mapsource? I did a search and couldn't find what I am looking for. Thanks.

You do not need to be any sort of member. But if you do sign up for a membership, it's $20 and you get discounts at different times. I think you get some sort of rebate credits too for things you buy with certain restrictions. But before you order on-line.... call your local store to see if they have it in stock already and you can pick it up right away wihout ordering it and you still get the sale price.

Did you just go to your local store and they had it in stock, or did oyu order it and have it delivered to the store for pickup ? I ordered mine to go to the store, but so far... no notice of it arriving at the store. I hope I didn't waste my time ordering it if they have them in stock anyway.

MapMonkey, When you look at the compatible products list under the g2 Blucharts page the 76CSx is not listed. I had asked Garmin Support about this rumor a while back and they said they were "working" on a new firmware version to make the 60/76CSx compatible. But they had no time frame at all. I'm not sure what features won't work with the 76CSx, but some of the features of the g2 line don't even work with the Oregon 400c. At least not as far as the g2 Bluechart "Vision" version goes. Hopefully it's soon......

I was just looking to see if Garmin had put out a newer version of Bluecharts Americas yet. The last one was 2008.5 and was released over 6 months ago. When I went to the Garmin website. I got an official notice that the Bluecharts are discontinued. QUOTE: "This product has been discontinued and replaced by BlueChart g2®. Please check the new g2 product page for compatibility. Tequila, I looked closely at your screen shot and it hit me.... Are those the missing "D's" showing up in on your unit ? I thought the latest update made those differential symbols disappear ? Are they back ? Thanks.
