  1. Jim, It's possible that he does have 4.10. I have heard of some instances where Garmin units have been received with an oddball software version that no on ecan find anywhere. Not thru webupdater or otherwise. It's almost like Garmin has loaded some sort of interim software. The units still function fine. But why those version can't be found is beyond me. But then again.. you may be right and someone has loaded the wrong softwar eon the unit somehow.
  2. g-o-cashers, Thanks for the verification of the 550t having 4 GB of factory installed memory. You are probably correct on the others. I believe on the Oregon 400 series, it was: 400t = 4GB 400i = 2GB 400c = 1GB Garmin installed memory according to how much was required based on which map/charts were installed on the unit.
  3. As usual, there is a cloud of mystery around how much Factory Installed Internal Memory is in the various Garmin units. There "IS" more internal memory in the Oregon 400t then the 400c or 400i. I believe the same holds true for the newest Oregon models. Does anyone have what the actual factory installed, internal memory, is that is installed in the new units ? I'm interested in the Total memory installed and not the "Free" memory after any maps are installed. Oregon 450 Oregon 450t Oregon 550 Oregon 550t Thanks a bunch !
  4. Hmmm... according to the Garmin site, the latest software version is 4.0 and not 4.1 for the 60CSx and 76CSx. I tried the webupdater to see if it gave me 4.1 but no luck. I guess it's another one of those non-published version that appears on some units but is not offered as an update. I wonder what it fixes ? Anyone have any inside info on this version ? Thanks.
  5. Hi -OZ-, I did my best to use the viewer and I find it extremely difficult to manipulate to get it to show what I want to see. I have the inland lakes v3 and don't want to spring for $100+ for the newest v5 unless I am positive it show the buoys on Lake Powell. Plus I believe the way they are shown on the 400i may be diferent and so was hoping someone has a 400i unit. Thanks I checked on my 400i which has v5.0 on it and there are no buoys shown on the lake. Native 20559, Thank you very much for checking that for me. I might as well stay with the v3 Inland Lakes then, because that does show some buoys on Lake Powell. I didn't even notice them at first because they are merely shown as little tiny dots and not the traditional shape of buoys/markers on the regular BlueCharts. The number shows up when I zoom in at least as much as 500 feet. As long as they are there and fairly accurate, I'll be in good shape. I wonder why they removed them from v5 though. Thanks again.

  7. Does anyone out there have an Oregon ( Or Colorado ) 400i ? It's the one that comes with the Inland Lakes. I'm trying to see if the Inland Lakes charts on the 400i show the Buoy/Markers on Lake Powell in AZ/UT ? Thanks for any help.
  8. Thanks to everyone for all of that great info about the batteries and charging. It makes me feel a lot better knowing I can use those eneloops since I have plenty of them on hand as well as well as a LaCrosse BC-900 charger and a couple of the eneloop wall chargers.
  9. I have a bunch of the Eneloop batteries that I use in my 76CSx and had planned to use in the PN-40. But it seems I read something about the PN-40 needing it's own special type battery ? Are the eneloops nickel metal hydride or something erlse and will they be OK to use in the PN-40.' I don't weant to damage it by using an incompatible battery or battery type. Thanks.
  10. Thanks to both of you for those links. Those videos are very helpful. Regards
  11. Hi Joseph, Thank you very much for the Treat !!! It will certainly make my use of the GPS much more usable and enjoyable. Keep up the great work ! Regards, Tim
  12. Besides the Oregon 400t at Costco for $350, I got a sales mailer flyer from West Marine ( Boat/US ) and they have a sale on the Oregon 400c for $299. The differences are that the 400t comes with the TOPO maps preloaded on it and the 400c has the g2 Bluecharts pre-loaded on it for the boaters. Another difference is that the 400t has more factory installed memory as the 400c andor the 400i. But these both look pretty good to me.... if I didn;t already have the 400, I'd jump on one or the other.
  13. Hi. Does anyone know if you can use the Oregon 400 series with Garmin's "MobilePC" software ? If so... does it work pretty well ? Thanks
  14. And Delorme only has a limited number of those left. Unless things have changed, once those are gone there won't be anymore made (according to Delorme's own folks on the Delorme forums). I doubt you'll see Delorme lower it's price. I wonder why they won't make any more of them ? Poor sales ? New version coming ? I have seen a few ads from people selling their SE's, but I still wonder if the cost differential is worth it... especially considering you can get the PN-40 (regular) for $200 right now off Amazon. As a side note.... I think COSTCO has the Oregon 400t on sale right now for $350 and includes shipping. And that's a good deal too. But I like the greater maps availability, particularly charts, for the DeLorme units.
  15. So... did you ever sell it... or is it still available ??
  16. Hmmm, after doing some goodle searches about the PN-40, I learned that DeLorme makes as "SE" version which has about 8GB of installed memory. But it can only be purchased directly from DeLorme and no other retail outlets. That means it going to demand top dollar......
  17. I Assume the actual PN-40 unit is the same, but I want something to use more for waterway navigation. So I assume I may be better off with a PN-40 that comes with the Navionincs Charts ? How many different iterations so f the Navionics Charts are there ? And do any other Charts work with the PN-40 ? I have a 76CSx and an Oregon 400. Even thought the 400 is a much more advanced unit, you can't manipulate the charts using MapSource like you can wiht the 76CSx and the old regular Bluecharts, so I am looking for something new and differrent. Can you look at and plan routes or layout a course on a PC and then load it to the Pn-40 ? Thanks *** I just picked up the PN-40 with the Topo Maps for $199 w/free sipping from Amazon. ***
  18. Hi jotne. I read a post by "SergZak" over at the gpspassion forum. And I went and checked my account on "MyGarmin"... sure enough.... it was offering a map update.
  19. I have just read that the newest Garmin CNNANT2010.30 is available. When I went onto "MyGarmin" account, it does offer a new map.
  20. Maybe my experience will help. I had never had a problem with my PC's recognizing any of my GPS units.... until.... I got the newer nuvi units. I went absolutely CRAZY for weeks trying to get my PC to "See" it. What made it worse was sometimes it saw it, and other times it did not. I tried loading and reloading the Garmin drivers with no luck. Then... by sheer accident, I discovered that there was some sort of hardware/driver conflict. I found that if I leave my printer turned OFF, the PC see my nuvi. As soon as I turned my printer on, it did not. I spend several hours on the phone with Garmin and they could not figure it out So... try your luck with turning off or disconnecting all other hardware/connections and see what happens. .
  21. Tatooed Lady, Did you purchase the unit directly from Garmin ? Thanks.
  22. This looks very intreresting. I sure hope that it is truly compatible withg all of hte old Bluecharts too as well as the g2's. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=64242 Not sure how it's going to work exactly... it says something about transferring your charts from your device onto a memory card in order to work ? It should be available in November according to the site.
  23. That patch wasn't for TOPO 2008, it was for the older version that you do not have. Thanks for that info... But what version of TOPO is that for ? Regards
  24. It's there now, but when I tried to run it it said that my Topo was not found. But yet... I have it and it is loaded and working with my current MapSource. Huh? It wasn't there when I just tried it. I think you used the link to Download MapSource United States TOPO Basemap Patch by mistake. That's what I meant.... I tried to run that Topo Patch and even though I have Topo 2008 loaded and working in MapSource and on my GPS units, it gives me an error saying it can't find the map.
  25. It's there now, but when I tried to run it it said that my Topo was not found. But yet... I have it and it is loaded and working with my current MapSource.
